This is my families 2nd trip to the cabin, and we had a wonderfull time as we did the first time. Ken and Laura are the nicest people we have ever met. On arrival we had snow and the second day it was a winter wonderland, snowball fights, snow men and a warm cozy fire to warm by. The cabin is rustic and cozy but with all the amenities. Plenty of things to do. Legens a Great Family sports bar and resturant in Maggie, shopping in Waynesville, and Ashville is only a few min. away. Plan on having a stress relieving experience. Sitting on the front porch and letting the views empty your brain,re-discover your family and find new friends Craig, Martha, and Craigie

This was our second trip to the cabin. Something I have looked forward to each year. This time it was super special. As Michael and I were sitting out on the porch enjoying the fire, he went to get up to start the grill, and to my surprise he got down on one knee and proposed! So this trip was extra great. We love the new heater in the bathroom...i guess that's new, or either we overlooked it last year. Makes a huge difference. During the day we went over to Ghost Town and took a trip up the chair lift. Very scarey as an adult! LOL Or now I realize how really high up we were. Went to Cherokee (short drive) and didn't hit it big...but had a blast. At night we would sit by the fire pit (FYI...there is a great guy who sells firewood that lives behind the BB&T on soco road. Just pull in the leather shop and drive all the way back...you can't miss the big piles of wood). He has great prices and who wouldn't want to support local people??? :) At night we would sit by the firepit, make smores and just enjoy the peacefullness. We grilled out a lot. That was fun. And laid around in the hot tub for a moment...one night star gazing I saw 5 satellites, that was neat!! During the day (check out what I thought was a giant weed on the side of the house) turns out to be a butterfly bush. You can see some really beautiful butterflies resting on the flowers, makes for great pictures. We took a somewhat medium length drive up to looking glass falls and the fish hatchery. Great drive, minimum traffic. The falls were beautiful...as usual. Took a short drive to Waynesville for a craftshow...spent too much money. The gas logs at the house really do warm up the whole cabin very quickly!!! There are resident chipmunks that you sometimes can see scatter across the stone steps, saw a little wee baby this time around! You won't be disapointed in this place. It is rustic, but nice and quaint. Just the way a log cabin should be. You will have everything you need just bring toiletries. Ken and Laura are always so nice and great. Also one of the reasons we always come back. Great owners!

My husband and I had a nice stay. The weather was rainy most of the week, but it didn't matter. We ventured into Maggie Valley, Waynesville and Cherokee. There is plenty to do in the area and some nice shops. We had reading material, dvd's and the dog. Life is good and what else is there to want? Thanks for the stay. Hope to do it again.

We found the cabin tastefully decorated; yet still retained the rustic feel. The owners were wonderful and really worked to provide us privatacy. We loved staying there and will again. The only thing to note was that there was not a working phone and we could not get reception with our cell phones. I also wish that the cabin had WiFi so we could surf the web with our iPhone for things to do in the Maggie Valley area. But overall it was an excellent experience that provided the peace and quiet that we needed. It is located in a private-scenic setting surrounded by woods in a grassy openning.

Everything was perfect for my guests and me, but most of all my parents had no problem arranging the stay. Everything was as listed on your rental site and all we had to do was get there and relax. Even though it rained some, we were able to enjoy nature at its best. It was the perfect place to reconnect with friends and relax. The only complaint I have is the visit was TOO short. I plan to return this summer for a longer stay. This cabin and location was definitely the perfect gift for this Leap Year Girl. My parents, guests, and I thank you so much for arranging everything to make this birthday one to remember.

We had an amazing time at the Homestead. Ken was such a great host and so easy to work with! It was so great to be able to drive just a few minutes up the hill to go skiing for the day - made it easy for my parents (who weren't skiing) to head back when they were ready. The kids LOVED the jacuzzi!! The beds were extremely comfortable, and there was plenty of room to stretch out and make ourselves comfortable. The fireplaces and heaters made the house very warm and cozy - perfect for wrapping up under a blanket after a marathon day of skiing! The cabin was equipped with everything we needed to prepare meals, and everything was in perfect working order. The directions to the cabin were clear and concise. We are ALL looking forward to coming again next year - and maybe sometime this summer too!

This cabin is adorable. 5 minutes from the Cataloochee ski lodge, 30 minutes to see the wild Elk in Cataloochee Valley. The cabin was more than we expected. Hot tub was great to relax and star gaze. Ken and Laura were most kind and helpful. We were lucky and experienced the first natural snow fall of the season. Thanks so much and we look forward to returning to this one again and again!!!

The cabin was wonderful. The view was fine. We really enjoyed the stay. The only minus was the sofa bed needs a better mattress. Very quiet place to stay.

We have just finished our 2nd stay at The Homestead. We had the best time ever. The cabin is so cozy. We love the rustic look of the cabin, but it does offer modern conveniences too. Ken and Laura are the absolute best!! We can't wait to book our next stay at The Homestead. We are from Florida, so it is nice to "beat the heat" in the NC Mountains in June and July. Thanks Ken and Laura for your hospitality!

We are a family of five (three boys ages 12,7, and 2) We decided to take a last minute trip to Maggie Valley in hopes of showing our children snow for the very first time! (We are from Florida so this never happens!) The cabin was absoloutely perfect! I had fallen in love with it on the website and nothing else even halfway compared to it when looking at anyhting else. Once we arrived it was everything that we had promised and more! It truly was rustic and serene for an amazing value. We were able to spend 4 wonderful days there with my our children. We were close enough to everything to do things during the day and have awesome "family nights" at the cabin. We arrived back to Florida on Monday, February 7th. Three days later on Thursday, February 10th our seven year old son was diagnosed with AML leukemia. Though our world has been literally turned upside down, it was such an incredible blessing to know that we had just spent an incredible vacation together and what an unexpected blessing that it truly was! Thank you so much for opening your beautiful cabin to our family!

I loved the cabin. If we would of stayed in a hotel or CABin Resort the experience would NOT of been the same. Very Pet friendly. Will stay here anytime I'm in Maggie valley NC. The location is great also. You Can't get much closer to the smokeys then this. Very close to Cherokee. LOVED IT

We found plenty of snow while staying at Ken and Laura's cozy cabin. This cabin is very comfortable, well equipped, quiet, and sitting in the hot tub with snow all around was a wonderful experience. We would (and plan to) stay here again in the future. Both Ken and Laura are very friendly and were very helpful. We plan to tell firends and family about this cute, cozy, very reasonably priced cabin in Maggie Valley.

We just returned from a week at the Homestead. And a week was just not long enough!! The cabin was the perfect "home base" as we motorcycled through, in and around the Smoky Mountains. My first comment to Laura as she showed us around the cabin was "it looks just like the photos on the website". I loved sitting on the porch in the mornings with my coffee, watching the hummingbirds and snuggling on the couch in the living room at the end of the day. There was plenty of things to do and see in the area, White Water Rafting, Gem Mining and a trip to the Mineral Spa in Hot Springs was well worth the trip! We can't wait to go back and look forward to staying here again. Only next time...for two weeks! Thanks Laura and Ken!!!

This cabin was the perfect place for our family. So quiet and peaceful but still close enough to do activities if you choose to do so. It was the perfect cross between outdoor camping and staying in a hotel. Although we went in August, the weather was perfect....we were able to sleep with the doors and windows open at night. This was our first time there, but it will not be our last. The 150 year old cabin had character and charm...and the price was very reasonable. The all around perfect package for us. I would recommend it to anyone looking for relaxation and all the joys of nature.

Our party consisted of my husband and I and our four children with ages ranging from five to fifteen. The cabin was perfect. The beds were comfortable and everything was clean. The grounds were beautiful. The hosts, Ken and Laura, are two of the nicest people I have ever met. They went above and beyond to ensure that we had a good time and everything we needed - our car broke down and it is quite possible that their kindness is what saved our trip. I highly recommend staying at Homestead. My family and I will definitely be staying there again.

Our family truly enjoyed our stay at The Homestead. It is a beautiful combination of the old and the new. Sitting on the front porch having morning coffee was a tranquil treat. We loved walking by the stream taking pictures and the hot tub was a nice end to each day. Thank you. We hope to return again and again.
