Area Description

About the neighborhood: Gramercy Park / Flatiron

Central to all New York City attractions.

Serene and upscale, the Gramercy Park neighborhood was named for the elegant one-square-block park of the same name created by Samuel B. Ruggles in 1831. Its clean streets stretch from 20th Street until the start of Murray Hill at 34th Street, and are bordered by the East River and Park Avenue to the west. The townhouses around the park, built before the Civil War, are among the oldest and most outstanding in the city, and many tend to be handed down through the generations. Highly desirable for its classic architecture and close proximity to fine dining and shopping, Gramercy Park.

The Flatiron District is bounded on the north by the triangular Flatiron building (known as the Fuller Building, which was built in 1902, at the corner of 23rd Street), goes south to 15th Street, extends as far east as Park Avenue South and west to Sixth Avenue. Union Square sits on the southern boundary of the Flatiron neighborhood. At the time it was built, the Flatiron building was New York City's first skyscraper, and thought not only to be the tallest building in the world, but also the first skyscraper ever created. Today the neighborhood is booming with abundant restaurants, shopping, and convenience.

 Had a good time!, June 6, 2008
By Sheila & Beth (Southampton UK)
This was our first visit to Manhattan and we would recommend anyone to stay in this apartment. Viet and Liezl are most helpful and hospitable. The apartment is clean, well kept and very central and convenient for all areas of Manhattan. We always felt completely safe. There are good restaurants close by and the wonderful Wholefoods about 5 minutes walk away. Don't miss taking a look at Gramercy Square - there are some beautiful buildings there - also the Flat Iron building, not to be missed!  more...

PERFECT PLACE TO VISIT NEW YORK, May 1, 2008
By beatrice (Paris (FRANCE))
Nous avons adoré l'appartement qui est vraiment ravissant et très bien équipé. Idéalement situé pour visiter NY, en plein coeur de Manhattan (restaurants, boutiques, métros, bus et taxis sur place). Je vous le conseille vivement. Excellent rapport qualité/prix.  more...

Excellent 1bedroom in Gramarcy area NY, January 7, 2008
By Paul Lowenberg (London, UK)
This apartment was perfect for our needs. It is in excellent condition, the kitchen is all of the equipment needed, the bedroom was very comfortable and our 2 kids loved the loft. It should be noted that it is a very low ceiling height in the loft so many adults would not be comfortable sleeping there. The apartment is small (but that is typical of NY), it is excellently located. There are really good restaurents just aroundt the corner, and the owners are very friendly and helpful. We would certainly stay here again when we are in Manhatten.  more...

Great place to stay, May 18, 2007
By Shari (Hanover, MN)
Thank you so much for your hospitality. The apartment was so cute and in a very convenient and quiet location. It was nice to be able to come back after walking and sight seeing all day, and just relax. Also, thanks for all the helpful tips. We highly recommend staying here and would love to come back someday. PS- We saved over $1000.00 dollars staying here versus the tiny hotel room we had originally booked!!!  more...
Owner Supplied Testimonials
Dear Viet and Liezel, We have appreciated your place, it was clean, good location. And we have appreciated to have other clean linen and towels during our stay (especially as the weather was very warm those days).

So thank you again, I’ll surely contact you when I’ll come back to NYC, as we do that almost every year, and will send your contact to friends who plan on being there.

Have a good week, thanks again,

Marie P.

Hi Liesl,

All I can say is if this is your first start, you are off to a good one. I loved the extra little touches, of the ice cube trays, in cute shapes and colors.

Thank you once again for being such a good host and creating this lovely space. I am sure that there will be many more, who will come to enjoy it as we have.

Warmest regards,

Arlene
