Reviews for this vacation apartment rental in Manhattan, New York
This apartment was perfect for our first visit to New York City. The location is perfect at the intersection of some great areas - Greenwich Village and Soho and within walking distance to East Village, Tribeca, Chelsea, Little Italy and Chinatown. We basically walked everywhere from here, including Central Park, and back from Brooklyn one night! It's a comfortable flat with everything we needed (TV, a computer with internet access, guidebooks, time outs, food and drink recommendations and more). It's also close to some great restaurants and bars. The view from the rooftop is terrific on a nice day and would be great to sit out in summer with a couple of beers. My only proviso is that for two people it was great. For any more than that it would be a little bit small, although with four people it would be cheap on a per person basis. I would happily return and also recommend to others.
Right on the subway line, the location of this apartment was perfect. Easy walking distance to West Village, SOHO, Nolita, Tribeca, Chinatown, and East Village. Being close to all amenities (supermarkets, laundromat, banks, bakery, cafe's, restaurants)we couldnt have asked for more for our 2 week stay. The landlords, Viet and Liezl, were very attentive and contactable at all times. Great views of the city skyline from the roof made the experience all the more special. We felt like locals which is just what we wanted. We hope to stay again.
As with all things real-estate in New York City, life is a trade off. The neighbourhood is great, it really is a local place with character, and the apartment is extremely quiet at night, the view from the tar beach roof is exceptional, transport links are great.
However - cosy is an understatement, and you would be pushing it to have four adults in the place at one time - there simply isn't enough physical space in the place. The airconditioning is pretty noisy and the beds are well beyond their use by date. There is also way too much of the owner's stuff left in the place when space is a premium.
That said, for the price, it's pretty good value, and the owners are very friendly and accomodating. I am sure staying in any other season than summer would also prove to be more comfortable.
We stayed in #17 which is a mirror image of this apartment. The apartment was nice and clean. We enjoyed having a fridge to store drinks and food in. It was very helpful having a computer with high speed internet in the apartment. You do have to walk up five flights of stairs to get to the apartment so make sure your legs are in shape. Overall this was a great place to stay in Manhattan.
The Greenwich Village apartment is the perfect place to stay when visiting NYC. My husband and I found it very cosy (especially in the middle of Winter!) and the apartment was filled with all the necessary amenities and more! Cafes, Joe’s Pizza (best pizza in NYC, Market Trading (best burgers in NYC), supermarkets, clothing stores are basically at the door step of this apartment, not forgetting Carrie Bradshaw's apartment and the Magnolia Bakery (Sex and The City)..which is only a 10 minute walk from here.
We will definitely be rebooking this apartment on are re visits to NYC.
Thankyou for providing us with the opportunity to stay in such a lovely apartment, which allowed us to explore NY in the most convenient way!
We have just stayed for a week in this apartment and loved everything about it. The location is excellent - you are right in the heart of Greenwich Village with all of its cute stores, great cafes and restaurants. The apartment itself is very quiet, cosy and really bright - the sun shines right in which is a wonderful way to start the day. Transport links couldn't be better with a metro 3 minutes walk away. And the view from the rooftop is awesome! We would definitely recommend it and will definitely be back.
