Interesting places abound nearby

Dreamy and evasive Cafe Alou on 83rd between Columbus and Broadway is where Tom Hanks dated Meg Ryan in You Got Mail. The pastry is as luscious and decadent as the French decoration. A must visit. Then around the corner you have the best Hazelnut coffee in town. The place is called Drip and do pay attention to the stationary computers and myriad of folders. It is one of the most ingenious dating concepts in a coffee shop.

Then later at night you have Lava Lounge that has an exceptional red lounge room with huge pillows and a basement lava room. It changed names recently but ask around on 83-84th Street on Columbus and you will be directed in the right direction. In addition, just walking down Columbus you must take advantage of the exquisite Snapper presented at Calle Ocho between 82nd and 83rd Street on Columbus. It was spectacular and is a must treat. The oyster lovers will be pleasantly served on Columbus between 78th-79th Street at Ocean Grill with your own private fire place, find it and for a final enjoyment of privacy, find Cafe Artistes at 1 w. 67th. Of course, you must visit Tavern on the Green which is located a stone throw away in Central Park off Central Park West and 70th Street. These are the secrets of the Upper West Side. Indulge this and don 't forget that Lincoln Center and the Shakespeare in the Park have free performances all summer long, every summer. Lincoln Center has live music bands outdoors on Lincoln Plaza for free for 4-6 hours each Saturday night during the summer' All from Salsa, Jazz, and Classical to anything that makes you move.

Professional and convenient, September 23, 2008
By s (Tampa, FL)
This was the first time I've rented an apartment during a stay in NYC and it was terrific. This neighborhood is incredible and the best in NYC. It is convenient to the trains, the sites and the park. This owner and her staff are very professional with clear communication and follow through. We met the rep. at the apartment at the time agreed upon and were given a short orientation and exchanged the balance of the rental. Everything was exactly as advertised. The apartment is small and not at all posh, but convenient and has everything you need right down to the Splenda packets and great water pressure.

True to its expectation, September 23, 2008
By Monique BAREL (Neuilly, FRANCE)
Every good thing has been said in he other reviews.I just could add that coming from France and used to rent in Europe, I was agreably surprised to find already disposable in the apartment the first and indispensable little things as shower gel, shampoo, detergents, toilet papers, all small things that would have had to be bought in arriving in a rented place in Europe. Our big daughter slept in the sofa bed and it was perfectly ok for three people. The location is great. The only detail that was a little bit annoying was the darkness of the apartment, as we had to draw the curtain to know what was the weather. Anyhow, highly recomemndable place.

The previous reviewers sum it up well. I was also pleased to benefit from a last minute discount (offered on the "Last Minute Deals" page of this site), and with the professional nature of the booking (some of the other listings I inquired about were distinctly amateur in their responses). Note the apartment may be a little small for 4 people - but it's "do-able" if you are looking for ways to save. Would love to come back again sometime.

Location, Location, Location, August 6, 2008
By Lory Moore (San Antonio, TX USA)
This apartment is in an awesome location, 2 blocks from Central Park and surrounded by some fantastic restaurants and great pubs that stay open till the wee hours. Zabar's deli is 2 blocks away, easy subway access, etc. Apt is well furnished with coffee pot, ironing board, hair dryer, cable tv. If you are looking for an authentic NYC experience I would highly recommend it. We'll be back!

 Excellent Location!!!, June 6, 2008
By Gerry & Beth (Chautauqua, NY)
Our family stayed here over Memorial Day weekend. The location was fantastic with a parking garage and subway station nearby... a short walk to Central Park, Natural History Museum and many stores and restaurants. The apartment was very clean, with fresh paint, new carpet and a remodeled bathroom. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots and pans, toaster, etc. There were plenty of towels and bathroom supplies. Elaine and Tom were most professional and helpful in planning our trip. We would definitely recommend this accomodation to anyone.

 Excellent stay, January 2, 2008
By Claire Barnard (Washington, DC USA)
My husband and I recently stayed in the studio apartment and we had an excellent experience. The apartment is nicely appointed, very clean, and is in a great neighborhood. As a former New Yorker, I can honestly say that one would be hard pressed to find a better deal in the city or a better location. Elaine and her colleagues were so easy to work with and I would highly recommend staying in one of their apartments.
Owner Supplied Testimonials
We had a delightful stay at Apartment 1A on 157 W. 80th in the upper west side. It was our first time in NYC - our stay was cut short by flight delays, and our hosts graciously adjusted the rental balance - without even being asked! The apartment was very comfortable and had every convenience we needed. The location was great - easy access to the subway and great neighborhood restaurants. We'd love to come back - thanks so much for a great experience!
