Description of the Manhattan vacation apartment rental

Located in the tony Upper East Side and very near Carl Schurz Park and the Mayor's formal residence (Gracie Mansion), this lovely, charming home is clean, large for one bedroom, quiet and private with a full office and living room/sleep sofa. It is owned by an interior home design professional who has multiple residences.

The apartment is a full home and it will be supplied with coffee, tea, sugar, honey, milk, juice and other light breakfast foods/snacks for that first morning or two.

A front, one bedroom apartment on the fifth floor, this flat has excellent natural light and an additional sleep sofa in the living room, sleeps four. We must emphasize again, however, that there are four flights of stairs and there is NO ELEVATOR. Upon reaching the apartment, the door opens into a large, windowed, full, eat-in kitchen; to the left of the kitchen is the bathroom, to the right of the kitchen is the office which has soft wall-to-wall new wool carpeting and a walk-in closet for guests. The office leads into the bedroom and finally, in the front of the apartment is the living room.

The bedroom has a full size bed, dresser and night stands. The full/queen size modern sleep sofa in the living room is new and very firm. There is cable television in the living room.

Portable fans in each room, 9 foot ceilings, cotton towels and bed linens, fully equipped kitchen and bath. NOTE: This apartment has ONE very large sink located in the kitchen which is next to the bathroom (see diagram). There is no sink in the bathroom.

Adorable kitchen, shabby chic with modern stainless steel shelving, modern glass tiling, large refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker, modern glassware, service and cookware.

The office is available for telephone calls within the USA (so you can call all over NYC to make your reservations, call for deliveries, etc.) and there is a modem so you CAN BRING YOUR COMPUTER LAPTOP and get to the internet.

Large bedroom with full size bed and window, new carpeting, pine dresser/bureau, clock/radio, standing mirror.

Living/Dining Room has modern flat wall to wall carpeting, 2 large windows, air conditioner, ultrasuede sleep sofa, table, two stuffed chairs, cable television.

The windowed bathroom is off the kitchen, with modern shower head within an antique, gold leafed footed cast iron tub, hand crafted designer mosaic floor, toilet is clean and new but slightly askew, chrome shelving and bath cabinet for guests.

NO SMOKING in or near apartment or building, no pets, children negotiable in advance.
We adhere to a SHOES OFF policy in the apartment; CLEANLINESS IS ESSENTIAL.
This is non-hosted but owner lives very nearby in neighborhood.
$150. per night for 2 people, $50. per night per additional person, negotiable, depending on season.
$1050. for one week, 7 nights, one or two people. Longer stay, price negotiable.
All guests are to arrive at apartment simultaneously.
$100. cleaning fee.
15-20% non-refundable reservation fee and full payment (80-85%) due upon arrival. If notified with a minimum of one month prior to arrival, the 25% will be applied to alternative dates if rescheduling.

The location and neighborhood is of the best in Manhattan, off the East River and York Avenue by Carl Schurz Park, clean. If you are a runner, the East River is lovely. Transportation is excellent as well (buses north/south and east/west, subway, taxis) as well as all services: dining, shopping, laundry/dry cleaners, beauty--everything! Our guests have only been super-satisfied, but again, this apartment is for fit folks who can handle the four flights of stairs.

#4,5,6 subway station at Lexington and East 86 Street Crosstown buses (west bound) on East 86/First Avenue
Busses on every avenue to lead you north and south; 86 St. is a limited stop=fast downtown bus rides!

Car parking on the street is easier in this neighborhood on weekends and considered very safe.
