Other Vacation Rental Amenities

As Langston Hughes put it: "There is so much to see in Harlem." Visit Hamilton Grange, the country estate of Alexander Hamilton; Riverbank State Park, with its wonderful carousel and a spectacular view of the George Washington Bridge; the beautiful architecture of City College (CUNY); the lovely row houses of Hamilton Heights (often called Sugar Hill) that have been home to Count Basie, US Chief Justice Thurgood Marshall and boxing great Sugar Ray Robinson; and Strivers' Row (a reference to the upward mobility of the doctors, lawyers and other middle-class professionals who purchased homes here) on 138th and 139th streets.
Any day is a good one to come uptown, but Sundays are, for many, the best time to hear gospel singing at churches like the Gothic-style Abyssinian Baptist (where the charismatic Adam Clayton Powell once preached), Visitors of all races and creeds are given a warm welcome (please remember to dress appropriately for church).
For a taste of Southern hospitality and stomach-and-spirit satisfying soul food at a restaurant such as Dinosaur Bar-B-Que, Sylvia's, Amy Ruth's or Bayou. Hopping nightspots include the Lenox Lounge, St. Nick's Pub for great Jazz, the world famous Appolo Theatre. For great music, dance theatre, Aaron Davis Hall and the Gate House.
Museums nearby include The Museum of Natural History and the Rose Planetariun, The Studio Museum of Harlem, The Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture. The fantastic Bronx Zoo, a must if travelling with children, is just 15 minutes away

We really enjoyed the apartment, the beds were comfortable and location was great only a block from the subway. Quiet neighborhood and friendly.

I had booked another property for a week long stay in NYC. I was going to conduct a 3 day medical workshop for area Health Care Providers and needed a spacious place to do it. When I arrived at JFK, the contact for the other property was a no show and had essentially disappeared. What a horrific situation to be put in - I was very worried and somewhat panicked. Fortunately, Carola had been so caring and straightforward when I was initially looking for a place that I took a chance and called her in the hopes that she could in some way help me. Not only did she help save my workshop – she scrambled around after getting my call from JFK and sure enough I was taken care of! WOW. Throughout my entire time in New York City, she was entirely helpful, patient and problem solving - absolutely brilliant. The apartment itself is wonderful, really architecturally lovely (the pictures do not do it justice) – it has everything you need to feel safe and very comfortable – it’s also nicely situated with shopping and subway all within 3 short blocks. It is very clean, spacious and well appointed. The students in my workshop remarked at how lovely and huge the apartment was – when they inquired into what I was paying for rent – I was told I was getting a very good deal. I will, without hesitation, go directly to Carola in the future for my New York rental needs. Not only is she an honest, thoughtful and conscientious person – but I now consider her a fr

Home away from Home in NYC., October 7, 2009

We just returned from a 5 night stay in NYC. We rented 40560 an apartment on 76 Edgecombe. This was very convenient for us as we were 5 people in total. Having the fully equipt kitchen available for breakfast and snacks was great. The subway was just one block away and we found it super easy to get around all of NYC from the apartment. The owner Carola was so accommodating, answering all of my questions prior to travel, and even going above and beyond getting us started with breakfast food for the 1st morning as we had a late arrival into NYC. Carola also provided us with subway and city maps, and was very helpful with great suggestions and knowledge of the area and NYC in general. Thank you Carola! We will recommend you and hope to see you again in NYC. Catherine Duda

We had a great time in this apartment . The apartment is exactly as described in the web, very well equipped and the photos perfectly reflect the quality of furniture, kitchen and the comfort of the bedrooms and bathrooms. The location is great, in a very beautiful residential areas, with a subway station within a 2 min. walks, you can reach any part of NYC in few minutes. The space is amazing, great for a family of 5 without any problem. The owner, living in same building, is very friendly and can help you on site with anything you need. I definitely recommend this apartment.

Dear Carola,
I am writing to say how much my family and I enjoyed our stay at your piedaterre on Edgecombe Ave. last summer.
Being an interior designer, naturally I couldn't help but notice the lovely details of of the apartment. The moment we stepped into the lobby, I felt as if we'd landed in a hotel in Florence Italy, or one in Mexico. The cool tile floors in the lobby and plaster walls, along with the fusion of eclectic furnishings, were so inviting they made me swoon.
The suite was very comfortable and made us feel right at home. With two teenagers in tow, my husband and I couldn't have made a better choice. In the mornings, while the kids played with their digital toys and watched their television at one end of the apartment, we were able to sleep in wihtout being disturbed. Joy!
For the two weeks we were in New York, we became natives of Harlem. One of my more mememorable evenings we spent there was spreading out our blanket on the grass in St. Nicholas Park, eating a picnic dinner and sharing wine with the 'neighbors' sitting on their blanket next to ours, while we enjoyed an African Dance performance and a film under the stars. Heavenly!
The next time our travel plans bring us back to we will definiatley book the suite again!
We send you our best regards,

The Clarke Family

Thank you Carola for your kind hospitality and for all your great suggestions for our first trip to NYC.
We loved the apartment, so convenient and easy to move into.
We are so glad that you suggested the wonderful Gospel service at Abyssinia Church and the walk around your beautiful neighbourhood.
I don't know how we could have managed in a hotel with the 3 kids.
We hope to come back again next summer.

Best regards,
Johnny and Elisa Delas
