Perfect location, perfect price, perfect trip

Myself and girlfriend just recently finished our 4 night stay at John's place. Made the whole process very easy from the very first inquiry phone call as this was our first time renting from someone. Assured us everything would be ok with money and the place being ready for us to stay in and it was. Although he was not able to be there as he had prior commitments he had made arrangements for someone else to meet us once we had arrived and left in which we had no issues. This is a great place for 2-3 people to stay. Located at 48 and 5 ( 3 blocks west of Times Square ), comes with cable tv, wifi, full kitchen with glasses, microwave, fridge, stove, pots and pans and utensils, bedroom with comfortable bed, full bathroom and ac, what more do you need! There are grocery markets a few blocks away in which you can buy food to cook breakfast, lunch or dinners. Hop on Hop off main center is two blocks up with two stops near by. Within 10-15 minutes of walking you can reach rockerfellar, central park, times square, penn station, msg, macys and other various malls and stores. Right beside port authority and close to the subway line. Although the building looks old on the outside, the inside is very up to date and well taken care of, along with a friendly 24 hour door man to make you feel more comfortable. Had also left a pair of sunglasses behind in which John was kind enough to ship them back to me. Although it is so close to T.S, it is on a very quiet street with hardly any noise or through traffic. Would definitely recommend staying here if you are a small group or a couple. I will definitely be coming back on our next trip. For this price you get location, comfort, safety and your own space which you cannot get all in one at a hotel. Only downfall was we were not able to meet John, hopefully next time! Will be back soon.
Perfect place/disappointing trip

The apartment was literally a quick walk to Times Square and although small and a bit dark, was perfect for my stay. Comfy sofa, full cable, wifi, and a kitchen to have a quick bite rates far better than any hotel. Unfortunately, the NY Marathon was cancelled after my arrival so my trip was a big disappointment but the owner went above and beyond my expectations in making my short stay pleasant and was very accomodating with scheduling changes. Be advised- most residential buildings in NY are old and don't "show pretty"; don't judge a book by its cover- location is key and this place is fantastic to see everything New York has to offer

It took too long to write because of the rush of day-to-day, but the memories of NY and the flat does not leave us never. As for the flat, the location is amazing, the room is perfect for two people and all of the photos corresponds exactly to the site. As the owner, John, it's another reason to make the flat accommodation the best choice . He was considerate of the first contact through bye. It was our first trip to NY and we can say: It could not be better.
Great location, lovely apartment!

We (a group of 3) really enjoyed staying in this apartment, very central with a walking distance to... well almost everything! It is located in the theater district, very close (less than 5 mins walk) to the Times Square and Port Authority, so you won't have to worry about how to get around town while you're staying there. Has a nice little kitchen with all the required facilities (fridge, kettle, coffee machine, toaster, kitchen supplies, spices, even wine and martini glasses!) so you can easily prepare your meal at home as well. It is a safe neighborhood, and the apartment has a doorman 24/7 so safety is not a problem. I wouldn't even consider staying in a hotel during my next visit to NYC, given that the hotels offering the same price levels have relatively worse locations and you feel much more comfy in an apartment. John, the owner is a really nice guy who tried to check on us frequently even though he was abroad during our visit, just to make sure we're ok. The cleanliness and the lean decoration also impressed me, we really felt home during our 1-wk-long stay there. Would definitely recommend it.

Best central location in Manhatton

Location in theatre district around the corner from Restaurant Row and a choice of 3 diners within 2 blocks of the apartment is perfect. Being on 45th Street is centre of town. To go up town walk to 8th Avenue to go downtown walk to 9th Avenue corner and grab a cab. You can travel 20 blocks for just $10 including tip in off peak traffic. Apartment has everything you need including air conditioning with walk in wardrobe with closet for the suitcases, full size fridge & gas stove. A hugh laundry is in the basement with 12 washers and dryers so laundry is a breeze., We stayed for 3 weeks and cooked once, there are so many places to eat on different budgets it is cheaper to eat out than in. The best thing is you are 2 blocks from Times Square but without the noise and bustle, and is very reasonably priced compared to hotels. Will definitely stay here again when visit the Big Apple next time.

I loved my stay in this apartment. John the owner was great. Very welcoming and I could tell he took pride in the apartment. My flight was late and he was so great about waiting for me. The apartment was really comfortable. It had everything needed, a comfy bed and couch and a clean bathroom and kitchen which were all great after a long day of sightseeing. It was just like a little home in the heart of New York! And it made me feel like a local for the short time I was there. I was travelling alone and it was comforting to have a secure building and all the doormen were really friendly. It's been said before but it is in the perfect location. A few blocks from Time Square and the Theatre District. Great if you are seeing any show because they are all within walking distance. Very close to the trains at Port Authority and Time Square which connects to every line in the city and makes it a great way to get around. Plenty of restaurant in the area as well as markets and pharmacy for everyday things. It really was just a nice place to stay and the price was great for the area. I will be back to New York again because I love it and hopefully I will be able to stay here again. Thanks John.
Perfect apartment perfect location

Me and two of my friends stayed in the apartment for 4 days, just before the christmas. We were very lucky to find the apartment in the busiest time of the year. Appartment is so clean, warm and comfortable that we felt like home from the first night of our stay. It's also very close to most of the attractions. I would recommend it to anyone, in fact this will be the first place I will check when I go to NY again.
Location, location, location!!!

This is an axiom of realtors. And in this case very true indeed. This apartment is located centrally to everything we wanted to do or have access to. Theatres, cafes, delis shops as well as subways, bus stops etc. are all within easy walking distance. The doorman, Jim, is also a treasure. He was very helpful and informative about local eateries, shops and services. He also received a delilvery for us when we were not "at home". This is something friends of ours could have used when their lost luggage took 2 days to get to them and they had to wait in their apartment for its arrival. They did NOT have doorman service at THEIR apartment. It was a lovely trip the NYC and we would like to repeat the experience and are recommending this apartment to our friends.
Great place to stay in the heart of everything

My husband & I stayed here for a week in late October and we both loved the place. The apartment is cosy and warm, and there was plenty of space for the 2 of us. John made us feel really welcome and at ease, and was available at anytime to answer any questions we had. The location was SUPER handy, literally minutes to everywhere, and most of it within an easy walk, including Times Square (5 mins), Central Park (15 mins), Rockefeller (15 mins), Penn Station (10 mins) Madison Square Gardens (10 mins) etc etc. The kitchen was tiny but well equipped, the laundry room in the basement was so handy, and the security offered by having a door man really set our minds at ease. The neighbourhood was really pleasant and there were so many restaurants close by that we never needed to use the kitchen. If we were ever to go back to NYC we would happily stay here again, and would happily reccommend it to anyone.
AWESOME PLACE!!! NY HOTELS ANYMORE!!

I'm still here after almost after 1 month staying in this awesome apartment. It really made me feel like home! We are from Brazil and me and my girlfriend rented this apartment for 1 month stay. In my country, making long distance deals is something scary. I must confess that I got really concerned about sending money overseas for booking in advance, etc. But John, the owner, is such a great guy that I'm sure I will do over again every time I visit NY. And have lots of friends that are really interested also. On the first day, a Sunday, John stayed with me in a teleconference for almost 1 hour helping us to set the wireless signal into my laptop with Verizon. This is how this guy does - he really knows how to make us feel like home, giving a great support for everything we needed. We will leave soon - we miss our country and home - but we are sure that we will also miss NY and mostly the great experience we had staying at John's place. Location is just perfect! 2 blocks from Times Square at a very calm and peaceful block at 45th street. Subway is on the corner. Full of restaurants, drugstores, supermarkets and all kinds of services just half block away at 8th and 9th street. Could write forever but will stop here. Thanks John - and for all those are reading this - believe me, this is the place to stay in NY! And I'm not a John's relative or so - just a very happy Brazilian that spent an amazing month at a really great place!

It really was our home away from home

My partner and I stayed at John's place for a month in June-July. We had spent the previous week in another apartment in Nolita, which allowed us to truly appreciate the size, cleanliness and homeliness of the place. We were really able to make it our own. I would recommend this apartment to anyone, it can't disappoint and I can't imagine getting a better apartment for a better price. John was also a very attentive host, making sure to fix any issues that may have arisen. Great area for tourists but make sure not to spend all your time in midtown - the rest is much better!

This apartment worked out very well for our week long stay in NYC. The location is great for theatre going and is central to many other options. The metro stop is right around the corner and there are many restaurant choices close by. The apartment is very quiet and clean, air conditioning works well, kitchen tiny but well equipped. The only slight drawback for us was that the bathroom is off the bedroom. The owner is great to work with, answered my many questions promptly, and had someone there to meet us even though it was about 1 in the morning when we arrived.

WE LOVED IT!!
November 6, 2009
My story: Mom and daughter scouting colleges ( FIT and Parsons), from the South (GA). We have traveled out of the country many times but never to NY for some reason. I was more nervous about this trip than any before for some reason. I needed to feel some comfort of home while I was visiting so decided against a hotel and Im telling you it was the best decision made. John the owner of the apartment is a super nice guy and made me feel relaxed about our experience. He was very accommodating while we were there and talked to us about the basics of the city. The apartment was immaculate and perfect for two people. We were two streets away from Time Square but yet the apartment is on a nice quiet street so we got the best of both worlds. The apartment building has full time security, not that I felt threatened at any time but it was a nice feeling to know someone is there watching. The apartment is a gem, honestly smoke and pet free which I loved. Dont even think about sneaking around those rules. The transit was a new thing for us but very convenient to get to from the apartment. The subways are everywhere and there are maps in the apartment to use as needed. We picked up a few things from the store so we could have snacks and drinks but mostly ate out. Everything is at your doorstep or so close its wonderful.Restaurants, bakerys, drug stores, theaters, you name it, right at your feet. No wonder so many people fall in love with NY. I felt safer in NY than I do in Atlanta!
