Description of the Manhattan vacation apartment rental

This classy and tastefully decorated apartment sleeps eight (3 BRs + Sofa bed in living room opens to fit two). It is located at 9 West 70th Street, right off of Central Park West. Conveniently located across the street from C/B subway lines, and two blocks from 1,2,3 subway lines.

Amenities include: wireless internet, cable television, and local phone service. A plasma TV in the living room is available for your use at your leisure. The kitchen is newly renovated, and is fully equipped with all new appliances. Also available for your convenience is a washer and dryer located in the apartment itself!

Area Information

Traditionally known as the home to New York City’s affluent cultural and artistic workers, the Upper West Side of Manhattan has come to be known as one of the most upscale neighborhoods in New York City. It is home to some of the more well known museums such as The American Museum of Natural History and the Hayden Planetarium, and is also home to cultural centers such as Lincoln Center. Also found in this neighborhood are European style cafes and bistros, friendly diners, fine restaurants, and ample opportunities for shopping. During the summer weekends, the streets are dominated by the ever-popular flea markets, and Central and Riverside Parks are always a popular way to spend afternoons, even during the week.

Location location location

In the Upper West Side you could hardly get a better location. 20 yards from Central Park West with access to the park at 69th and 72nd streets. And the entrance to 72nd street subway is just across 70th street (it is at the southern end of the platform). B and C lines. A block from Columbus, two blocks from Amsterdam and then another block to Broadway. Just fabulous. 70th is a classic and pretty UWS street, mostly brownstones, and it was great living in real NYC, all with "our own" stoop. The UWS is a real Manhattan neighbourhood yet just a few subway stops from the theatre district. We love it. The unit itself is a good size, each bedroom perfectly adequate. Kitchen a bit small, but a good dining area. The bathrooms are fine. And having a laundry is great. Now it is not luxury living, but it doesn't pretend to be. Air conditioners a bit rattly, but they all work. Sheets are not hotel class, but so what? Kitchen a bit small with little bench space, but who cooks in Manhattan, other than making breakfast, for which it is fine. The price is very good value for living in NYC. We were 6 adults and it suited us well. Recommended.

Same time next year...

I have kids in NYC so I am there alot and knew the neighborhood so convinced my friends to stay there and all 5 of them loved it. We enjoyed the neighborhood and found it easy to get around. Loved being so close to the park and hope to stay there on our return next year.
