Description of the Manhattan vacation apartment rental
My striking Brownstone is a 5 story 1895 town house in the Upper West Side of Manhattan. I had the ornate facade resorted recently. It features 8 apartments, two of which are short-term rentals. ( I occupy the parlor/garden duplex apartment ) .
Studio #3
Situated in the Parlor Floor Front, 1 flight up – no elevator – overlooks West 81st Street. It has 2 big windows along with security bars under a stained glass crescent (as shown in the frontispiece photograph).
Main area is 12ft wide and 22ft long. Large decorative fire place dominates the room along with its 13ft ceilings ( with chandelier/ fan in middle ) . Toward middle of building is high bar which separates well stocked kitchen from LR. A spiral stair case leads to a loft queen-size bed, leaving about 4ft clearance: guests can sit up, but not stand. A reading lamp is available there with a clock radio.

Area Info
The house is in a neighborhood of town houses on the side streets, large apartment buildings on the avenues, piles on Central Park West, and grand institutions like the Museum of Natural History, the New York Historical Society, and Lincoln Center close by. It lies between the huge Central Park and the narrower Manhattan-long Riverside/Hudson Park.
The area has a large number of restaurants on each block of varying ethnicities and sophistication. Zabar's famous deli and the superb Fairway market are just a few blocks away on Broadway. Central Park is one block away, offering a stroll to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and all the other institutions on Museum Mile.
The immediate area is well served by two subway lines and buses going north and/or south along every avenue, as well as the 79th Street crosstown bus line. None of the other areas of Manhattan - Times Square, the Village, or the Financial District, for example - is located far away in time or is difficult to visit .
Unlimited Metrocards are available at subway stations at any hour.
