The neighborhood: : Riverside Park is the hidden gem of the city, with a European style promenade, wooded paths for walking/running, and gorgeous views of the Hudson. There are all types of sports fields, a skate park and two wonderful childrens' playgrounds. Entrance to park at 103rd street. There is an outside terrace cafe. Gorgeous in springtime with all the blooms. Equally beautiful in winter. The neigborhood is exceptional - safe and quiet, with lots of great little eateries. Night time walks along Riverside Drive or West End Ave are especially nice. Within walking distance to a variety of NY sights, including museums, Columbia University, and St John the Divine.
The #1 train will take you to other parts of the city like Times Square, Herald Square, The Theatre District in a relative short ride (less than 20 minutes).

Easy access to the Henry Hudson Pkwy aka West Side Highway if you are driving.
