Description of the Manhattan vacation apartment rental
The kitchen has a 4 chair dining table, while the living/dining room has its own six chair formal dining table, Murphy bed, sofa and armchairs.
A closet area off the living /dining room towards the middle of the building houses the second Murphy bed, a dresser and clothes hangers that can be closed off by two massive original sliding doors.
The apartment has its own Wifi internet connection and satellite DirecTV servicing a 34" TV screen.
Area Information
The house is part of a neighborhood of townhouses on the side streets, larger multiple dwellings on the avenues, occasional grand apartment buildings on Central Park West. Some notable institutions such as the old Museum of Natural History and the new Planetarium are just across Columbus Avenue; Lincoln Center and the New York Historical Society are just blocks away. The Metropolitan Museum of Art is a stroll across Central Park (one block away), as are the other Museums of Museum Mile
The area is well served by many bus lines and two subway lines, with a high population of restaurants of many different ethnicities and varying levels of sophistication. Zabars' famous delicatessen is on Broadway at 80th Street, while Fairway market on Broadway at 74th Street offers the best in meat, fish, vegetables and fruits.
No area in Manhattan - be it the Theater District or the Village - is far away in time or difficult to reach.

Reviews for this vacation apartment rental in Manhattan, New York

Amazing, elegant studio with everything I needed
August 21, 2012
This apartment was a lifesaver to us! So beautiful and elegant, with everything a family could need - all in it's place. The murphy beds transformed the elegant living room into a bedroom for 4 - and were incredibly comfortable.(And the sheets felt like 500 count!) Shades, every kitchen tool, gorgeous glass ware and dinner ware, elegant bathroom - all provided with friendly host and advice on where to go with our kids. I never would have believed that a "vacation rental" could truly have all the comforts of home, especially when I really wanted a good kitchen to feed my small children. And it's in one of the best neighborhoods in New York City. We ate at Zabars, played at the museum, and dined at the trendy restaurants on Columbus, walking in Central Park whenever we wanted since it was so close. I'm going back to this place again - and will highly recommend it to everyone.

Loved the Apartment
Review Submitted April 17, 2012 Date of Stay March 11, 2012
Feel at home away from home. The location of this spacious apartment cannot be beat- literally minutes away from the Museum of Natural History and part of a comfortable neighbourhood with shops and stores to satisfy your every need. The kitchen is a delight, the beds are comfortable, Alec is a welcoming and kind host and available to help. We would not want to stay anywhere else on our next visit to New York. Book early as it is popular! Anne, John & Alexander (Ontario, Canada)

My husband and I shared this apartment with friends of ours and their 5 year old. It's in a fantastic location: easy access to two subway lines, across the street from the planetarium and museum, easy access to Central Park for a morning run. The proprietor was super friendly and helpful, and gave us great restaurant recommendations (there are several good, affordable, choices right in the neighborhood). The apartment was spacious and very quiet from the street, although you can hear neighbors above and in the hall. Typical for these old buildings I'm sure. Bed was comfy, bath was dated but we had plenty of hot water and water pressure. Would definitely stay here again.
Rating:
4 out of 5
Owner Response: I'm glad they enjoyed my short term rental apartment - it IS well located. But I am puzzled by the "bath was dated" remark: the tub, toilet, and vanity are modern.

I recently stayed at this property with my sister and her 3 teenage kids and absolutely loved it. I have stayed a several guest houses in NYC and this is my favorite. It is clean, spacious and the kitchen is the biggest I have ever seen in NYC (and unbelievably equipped too). I am (was) a huge fan of the Greenwich Village area, however I am now an Upper West Side convert, this area is right by Central Park it's so peaceful and beautiful, it's very close to the subway and surrounded by lots of great restaurants/shops etc. Alec was an amazing host who really made us feel welcome. You will not be disappointed with this location.

Edit your Response
Owner Response: I am so pleased they had a good time! I did go all-out with the kitchen equipment - I was so bothered by the hotels around here that offered "kitchens" with a few cheap aluminum pots and pans and the like. Cuisinart stainless steel cooking set for me! I wanted a kitchen where I would like to cook - and I'm picky. (And to save money on restaurants for breakfasts and lunches!)

My family enjoyed staying in the apartment very much. It was very comfortable, the kitchen was modern and well equipped, and in a great location. We will be sure and contact Alec when we return to visit the city again and hopefully this wonderful apartment will be available.

Owner Response: I hope to see this family again too. I love having happy guests!
