Awesome location half a block to the beach. A great house for couples or medium sized families. Lots of outdoor yard space with room for the dogs/kids/adults to run. An enclosed entry area makes it a great place to store windsurfing/surf/beach gear, or bikes.

large deck and awesome views

When we first arrived at the sunset house we were pleasantly surprised at the ocean view from the living room. The outdoor area was so much fun to grill, play catch with the kids and to just relax on the deck. This house had every connivence that we needed and then some. We enjoyed the dvd collection, games and books. We loved the proximity to the beach, town and city park.

This house is great value for the cost. Location is perfect!!! about 4 houses from the beach but you can see the waves from the living room. 3 blocks from town so easy walking to the shops, etc. Although there is only 1 bathroom, it works out fine because the shower is in a separate room and accessible without going through the main part of the house so you don't get it full of sand after a day at the beach. Rental agency very responsive and easy to work with. The only thing I would add would be a propane grill rather than charcoal grill but otherwise, it is ideal. We will definitely stay here again.

The two of us were hoping for a relaxing escape and that's just what we found. Sunset House is very comfortable, casual but nicely decorated and equipped with everything we needed. We loved being steps away from the beach, the cute town, and the farmer's market. We are looking forward to our next trip to Manzanita and this lovely home.

Summer 2011
I stayed in the Sunset House for a week over the 4th of July in 2011, and could not have asked for a better experience! The house easily accommodated my large group of friends (our number ranged from 3 to 7 at different parts of the week), and the location was absolutely ideal. The beach, visible from the large back deck as well as the living room, was only a block away on a dead-end street. The surfers in our group loved watching the waves from the deck, then walking down to catch a few when the conditions were right. In addition to the proximity to the beach, it was so much fun to walk the short distance to Manzanita's main street for coffee or ice cream, and we did this nearly daily. The house itself was very clean, comfortable, and more spacious than it appears in photos. I have since stayed in a few other properties on the Oregon coast, and none of them measured up to this one in terms of location, amenities, and value. I definitely plan to return in the future!

Manzanita is wonderful and this house was the perfect place to enjoy its many pleasures. Our group of dear friends stayed over a winter weekend that included the crazed howling of a full-blown Pacific storm, and the house of the perfect warm and cozy retreat from wind-blown walks on the beach just a block away. We loved watching the spume fly off the crashing waves from the comfort of the couch - the big picture windows looking west to the ocean are perfect for that. The house quite comfortably handled an onslaught of musicians and instruments, and was great for playing music into the wee hours; there are rooms you can retreat to, if need be, and a large and comfortable living room to gather in. The house was quietly stylish, completely set up for a collection of cooks (which we are) and fully outfitted for any adventure. We, being surfers and mountain bike riders, especially appreciated the large garage with all of its storage space for our gear. The house is an easy walk to Laneda St. and coffee, pastries, the morning paper, lunch, dinner, the local pub, the market and whatever you might need. Having rented many houses in various parts of Manzanita over the past 20 years, this is the only one I will stay in from now on. And, though it might sound touchy-feely, the spirit of the place is perfect. It is a calm and cozy retreat that its owners clearly love and cherish; we all plan on returning to it again and again.

What a great location! We enjoyed the view and sound of the ocean, and used it as a starting point for a quick walk to town and biking in the state park. We felt at home in this comfortable classically-styled beach house.

Summer 2011
My family and I stayed here last summer and had a wonderful 4 day holiday! The house is spacious and open with excellent light and can easily accommodate 2 families. The back deck is a perfect place for BBQs or just hanging out drinking wine and looking at the view.

The location is just about perfect. It is a minute walk to the beach and maybe a 3 minute walk to the main drag (what's name of street??). The pizza place on the corner rocks and there is a very good Mexican restaurant nearby.

We love coming to Manzanita and will definitely come back to this house again!
