Miller's Retreat -Your Home Away in Mason, TX
|Per night:||$155 - $175|
Set on a 9-acre property, the scenery at Miller's Retreat is country and your neighbors are far enough away to be unobtrusive. You'll find the wildlife very close in this open yard, with comfortable viewing from the front porch or from the wood deck in the rear.
The family area includes a 25" TV with DVD player. DirecTV hookup is available for those who want to bring their own receiver. There is no wired telephone service, but cell-phone reception is very good from AT&T and West Central Wireless, a partner of T-Mobile. Books abound here with mostly classic titles for your reading pleasure. A slightly out of tune console piano awaits if you feel like pounding the ivories. (Be kind, it went through hurricane Celia on the Gulf Coast!) Guest house amenities include coffee and juices and frozen delights. //millers.kd-sol

Our group of six found Miller's Retreat a very pleasant get away. The owners were extremely courteous, helpful, and friendly. The house was very clean and comfortable with ample linens, dishes, and everything else needed. We were greeted with a personal welcome note, homemade cookies and banana bread. Coffee, juices, and frozen cinnamon rolls were also provided. The back porch was a favorite place to gather and enjoy the sounds and sights of nature. The house is private and secluded and yet right on the edge of a storybook small town filled with history and character. The town of Mason, though very small, has a surprising number of antique and resale shops as well as a great restaurant (Willow Creek). Fredricksburg Trade Days (third weekend of the month) is a mere 40 miles south also. Our group has decided to make this an annual destination. The price is perfect for a larger group and so much more pleasant and comfortable than a motel stay. The website describes it well but could not possibly convey the true comfort and charm that visitors experience.
This is a wonderful place to stay....comfortable, relaxing, beautiful. Really enjoyed drinking morning coffee on the back deck, watching the hummingbirds at the feeder and the deer off in the pasture. Loved the antique/thrift shops too!
