great place for families

February 26, 2013

This was a really nice home and the pictures do not do it justice. Very roomy and clean. The beds smelled fresh, the bathrooms were clean. The downstairs had an unexpected surprise of a train set and a race car set, along with board games and Wii games. The kitchen was nicely organized so you knew where everything was, and lots of storage space for your goods brought from home. I think the only possible complaint would be that the dishware looked dusty so we prewashed what we used. The owner was very nice in her emails and gave us suggestions for wineries (we ended up going to Shenandoah Vineyards on the way back home. Very nice place and if we do another two family vacation, we will be coming back. I will recommend this house to anyone going to Massenutten! Thanks!

Joyful Passage is fabulous

February 23, 2013

What were the dates of your stay? 2/7/2013 - 2/11/2013 Did you enjoy your stay at Joyful Passage? absolutely What did you like best about the house? I liked the feeling of home. The house is welcoming from the moment you walk in. I also enjoyed the key less entry, no one had the keep up with a key. How was the cleanliness of the house? The house was clean and well organized Is there anything that would have made your stay better?? A hot tub would have been awesome to soak in after getting banged up on the slopes :) What was your favorite part of the mountain? I loved it when I woke to a beautiful snow covered morning after our first night there. I absolutely enjoyed seeing the slopes lit up at night. Would you stay at Joyful Passage again?? We are coming back again and are already getting our dates together.

Great location for a family gathering.

August 13, 2012

We really enjoyed staying in this property. Plenty of room with the finished lower level where the kids stayed and thought it was great having their own area. The couch in the living room needs replaced but everything else was fine. There were things to do with the pool, cars to drive, bungy jumping and caverns to visit. We would do it again. It was so relaxing! The house was also well furnished with games.

Tranquility at it's finest!

March 19, 2012

Quaint, serene, cozy, wonderful house set in the woods and yet near civilization...I love to cook so we spent most of our time indoors enjoying the entire place - especially the cozy fireplace! If we had to find anything wrong with it, I guess it'd have to be the den's tv's speakers need to be replaced or the tv replaced as there was interference making it kind of difficult to enjoy watching tv by the fireplace in the den. Other than that, I really couldn't find anything wrong with it - definitely worth the money and hope to come back again soon!

Nice weekend

January 27, 2012

The accommendation was great. There was plenty of room for everyone. Nice playroom/family room, great living room, kitchen, dining room. The bedrooms were comfortable even the bunk beds. I like the three bathrooms, however the bathtub in the upstairs hall was very luggish on draining and evidently had been like that for a while with the black marks on the tub. We ended up just showering in the other two. It stated in the contract to allow 30 days for the deposit to be reimburse which I feel is way too long, especially if other renters come in right behing you. Suggest the turn around on the refund be a lot sooner(within 5 days). All in all a very enjoyable experience for all of us.

Good Week!

August 18, 2011

We enjoyed our week at Massanutten in Joyful Passage. The electricity went off one day and we had to go out for lunch, but it came back in a couple of hours. We had all the essentials we needed. Nine of us were a little crowded with sleeping arrangements, but managed ok. We would rent this again for a short time. The location was great, and the driveway being on street level was good (didn't realize we were getting that good perk until we saw the extreme "up's" and "down's" of many of the other driveways. This was a blessing as we had several senior adults and one disabled younger person with us. Thanks for making it available for a reasonable rent.

Missing Joyful Passage!!

October 29, 2010

We were sorry to see our 4 day vacation end. Our 86 yr Dad and The Kids weekend was wonderful. Joyful Passage was a big part of our vacations success. It was one of the nicest places that we have ever rented. It most certainly was the cleanest and fresh smelling rental ever!! It had all the comforts of home, beautifully decorated, comfortable, lots of extras right down to the filled candy jars for guests. We are thinking of coming back again in the spring. It is very convenient yet tucked into the woods that we shared with the deer. We were very impressed!!

A lovely home away from home

September 10, 2010

We were a group of two adults, two teens and an 8 year old and this house was PERFECT! Well equipped with all kitchen essentials, entertainment options, clean linens, and little extras to make the stay more pleasant. Plenty of room to spread out and then come together for meals, games, tv watching, etc. We used the home as our base of operations for trips to Massanutten Water Park, JMU, Luray Caverns and swimming/hiking time. We will definitely be back to this lovely home!

Tranquility

February 26, 2008

The property offered peace and quiet. It was a very scenic drive thru the resort to get to the property. The house was welcoming and had ample space to spread out, it was hard to pick which comfortable couch to hang out on. It was not very far from the slopes, waterpark, or resort. I would stay at this propery again!!! Thanks for the getaway!!!!!

Appreciated the binder and all of the loose pamphlets, which gave us some ideas for things to do. I wish we would have had more time to do more exploring. It would have been great to visit the spa at the resort and to visit one if the wineries in the area. We ended up ordering from one of the pizza places you had a menu for on Saturday night and it was SO good...beats Dominos and Papa John's any day!

Thanks again so much for your hospitality! Definitely hope to stay again!

The birthday party was fun! We really enjoyed your place and it worked great for our group of sisters! She was totally surprised and we had a ball playing Encore and then another sister brought Just Dance II which we played on the Wii. We have wonderful memories of our weekend get-away and will never forget our 70 year mother dancing to âMonster Mash.â Thanks for a lovely, affordable weekend!
Laurie F 1-21/1-23-11

Our family spent a three day weekend in JoyfulPassage and loved it. The home is very clean and well appointed. Our kids loved the basement with board games, toys and Wii. The kitchen had all the utensils and cookware we needed. The layout is great because the bedrooms are separated from the main den and there is a full bath for those staying downstairs. The house is very well located being approximately half-way between the ski resort and the water park and the neighborhood is quiet with very little traffic. The owners were great to work with, communicated well and were very concerned that we had what we needed and enjoyed our stay. Will definitely be renting JoyfulPassage again

Joyful Passage is indeed a joy to stay in! We go to Massanutten 2x a year and we finally stumbled across the best the mountain has to offer in Joyful Passage. This is someones home away from home and all the little details made it like our home away from home too!
The location is perfect ~ on a very quiet residential street where the homes are occupied year round. Close to the water park, and only a few miles drive to the top of the mountain where the ski areas and other recreation areas are.
Clean and comfy beds and linens, fluffy towels, a fully equipped kitchen that you can actually cook in~ it has everything! Full sized refrigerator works great. The kids had their own bathroom and they loved the bunk beds! The house smelled clean and fresh and the bathrooms and kitchen passed my cleanliness test! The house is immaculate, freshly painted, and very nicely furnished for maximum comfort. The little touches are everywhere, from menus of local restaurants and directions to grocery stores to special lighting at the front door lock so you can see when you come home in the evening. The basketball hoop is good for shooting hoops but not for a full game, since it stands on gravel. The WII system rocks but bring your own favorite games , since there is not a huge game library. The family room is roomy and has an abundance of games and puzzles..not so many toys, so bring your own favorites.
We stayed here for almost a week this Fall and the experience was fabulous. The owners are very, very nice and very hands-on managing their property. We had a toilet leaking issue, called the on-call maintenance man, and he came right out and on a Sunday, folks!!
At Joyful Passage, youll fall into peaceful relaxation and dread going back to your daily grind. I highly, highly recommend this property for one of the most peaceful, relaxing, easy going vacations around!
