Description of the McCormick vacation cabin rental

Beautiful two story log cabin in a wilderness setting by the lake. Cabin is approximately 1500 square ft with 3 bedrooms and large wrap around deck. A 6 man hot tub is built into the deck.

The cabin sits on 300 ft of shoreline on Lake Thurmond with a view that extends over several miles of lake. It is located only 10 miles from the McCormick airport. It has a covered boat dock and a pontoon boat is available that can be rented for $50/day.

Please keep in mind when making reservations for this cabin that it is located in a quiet residential neighborhood on the lake and is not suitable for groups of more than 8 to 10 people. For example a class reunion or family reunion would be inappropriate. There are numerous state parks nearby suitable for such gatherings.

Area Information

There are several outstanding golf courses nearby, fishing within one mile of the cabin is outstanding and there is a new 20 mile long hiking, biking, kayaking trail only a few miles away. Whether you are looking for water sports, golf, a great place for long walks or bike rides, or just a beautiful setting to relax and enjoy this is a great place to spend a week or a weekend. And for Masters fans the cabin is about a 40 minute drive from the Masters Golf Tournament in Augusta, GA.

The weather is mild in the winter months permitting year round enjoyment of golf, fishing and most outdoor activities. If you reserve time during the winter months of December through February and the weather turns too cold for outdoor activities you can cancel your reservation at no expense. A stay during the winter is normally every bit as enjoyable as a summer stay. Many actually prefer the cooler months when the hot tub and outdoor activities are more inviting.

Very Peaceful

We rented the cabin in between my son's graduation in Columbia and his AIT in Augusta. It was fairly easy to find with the GPS and located on the lake. Although the lake was down about 6 feet or so, it was still a very enjoyable experience. The owner(Jerry) was a very personable person which made the overall experience great! I read the other reviews and they indicated the rustic nature of the place. I found it to meet my expectations! Very quiet and secluded yet close enough that you didn't feel like you were in the wilderness. We had 6 people and all slept comfortably in the three full size beds. We utilized the kitchen for breakfast and found no issues. The hot tub was great as the evening temperatures fell to the low 40's. We had no issues figuring out how to turn up the jets but do suggest better instructions for those who have never operated a hot tub before. We did not utilize the boat but Jerry called me to ensure that we were not wanting to use it as he was going out of town and didn't want to dissapoint us if we had wanted it. Overll great experience. My family and I had a very peaceful trip and enjoyed the together time in a nice environment. We were able to go into McCormick and enjoyed a good pizza at Michelle's.
