Please Note: Our 2006 26 foot Party Barge Pontoon is also available for rent for $995 per week (June rates are lower depending on the week). I also have a 2001, 3 person fishing boat to rent for for $299 (1/2 Off in June, September, and October). You are welcome to use a row boat as well as a new paddle boat that are included in the rates.
We are on BEAUTIFUL Big Sandy Lake; a 6000 acre premier Lake 2 hours North of the Cities in Aitkin County.
This 4350 square foot home has spectacular views and was built in 2001 with 1st class construction through and through. Every year we are continuing to add and update.
Our lake home is situated on a 9 acre lake lot with a wide sandy swimmable shoreline that has that Northern MN feel. Since it is a large lot, I have a 2008 4 place golf cart that you can rent for $100 per week.
The lot is wrapped by trees including tall pines, maples, birch, oaks and aspens to give you that "Up North" feel. If you are looking for privacy, our 1200 foot driveway and 300 foot wide treed lot will fit the bill!
This home features an indoor home hot tub, sauna, home theater,WiFi,custom bar and much much more. We decorated with cabin accents throughout which transform this lake house into a elegant cabin. The walls,ceilings,and floors are accented with maple, hickory, aspen, oak, cedar, hemlock, pine and ash. The result is a warm comfortable yet elegant feel. Every bed was hand made from log resulting in a northern Minnesota retreat. All of the bedrooms have custom log dressers as well.
We stocked our 2nd home with blenders, toasters, coffee grinders and other accouterments that you would expect in this caliber of home.
Rates are based off of a 4 person occupancy. Add $19.99 per person per day for additional people including children.
The decor and fabrics are not toddler friendly and you would not enjoy yourself while you worry about those little hands getting into all of the interesting accents. :) Add $150 for the final cleaning.
Sorry: No young adults without your parents. Our home is pet free and smoke free. You are welcome to kennel your pet in the garage or outdoors but they cannot enter the home.

Once you head north of McGregor MN, the landscape transforms into that northern Minnesota feel which is adjacent to Savannah State Forest. You will find plenty of beautiful trails for walking and snowmobiling.
When you get hungry, visit one of the 5 restaurants that are located on this beautiful lake. There is a 27 hole championship golf course minutes up the road called Minnesota National. Enjoy dinner at their new BEAUTIFUL 18,000 sq foot event center.
Big Sandy is famous for its large pan fish. The DNR has stocked the lake with walleyes. It is common for people to catch walleyes and crappies right off of our dock.

Overall the place was quite nice. The grounds were extremely nice and spacious so many activities could take place. The couple renting their home seemed to be very nice and easy to speak with. The overall condition of the home was very adequate however there were certain things that could have been better. Example: several lights fixtures had burnt out light bulbs and none could be found as replacements, there were several snails on the beach when we arrived and the clean up was left to us the renters, there was dirty underwear left from the previous party that the cleaning person did not pick up etc. After the final rental payment was made, along with an additional cleaning charge, we were informed that the kitchen needed to be cleaned, sheets needed to be stripped from all beds and put into the laundry room before we left, fridge needed to be cleaned out and wiped down, stove and counter top needed to be cleaned, dishes needed to be clean and put back in cupboard. If this was not done there would be an additional $50.00 charge to us. This is on top of the original cleaning fee that we had already paid up front as part of the rental. It would have been nice to have this communicated to us PRIOR to us making the final decision on renting. There are several TV's in the home however all TV's are controlled with one controller. This being said all TV's in the house were on the same channel as the main TV with the one controller. As mentioned earlier, Steve and his wife are very nice individuals, I did enjoy taking with them as well as the process with the rental. They did make their golf cart available to us to go to and from the beach as it is quite a walk, especially if one is carrying several items to and from the beach/boat. I would recommend this as a rental opportunity to anyone that is interested but please do be aware of the things that one will not discover until after the final payment is made. Even with the above mentioned items, my family had a great time at Steve's place. Unfortunately, I do not think he will be renting the home out in the future so we will need to look elsewhere as we do rent a lake place each year.

We just returned from a week in McGregor, MN at Big Sandy Lake. This house had super comfortable beds and lots of space for the 7 of us. Every year we travel together for our "Girls' Trip" and have known each other since grade school. The restaurant at the resort next door was fabulous. The winery down the road is a must (and also has great wild rice in many varieties). Duluth is close enough for a day trip.

We were very fortunate to find this property. The house was everything we expected, with an awsome surround system. Fishing was perfect,as we caught a 14" croppie 100 yards out from the dock. Minnesota National golf course is one of the nicest courses I have been on...Worth the extra money to play. Thanks Steve for the opportunity!!

What a great time! Our entire family had a fabulous time at the beautiful lake home-fishing, swimming, boating, and relaxing. The house was large, beautiful and fully equipped to meet our needs. A great time was had by all and we hope to do it again in the future.

This is an amazing rental and everything it is advertised to be. "Everything" you need is right there. The owner of the property is extremely easy to deal with and a Great guy ! 7 of us fit very comfortably and all had our own bed. The little extra's like the hot tub, Sauna & the use of the golf cart, made it a step up from your usual rental ! Thanks Steve & VHR for making our vacation perfect !!!

The vacation home was fine, I have no complaint. The vacation did not work out because of other circumstances. My wife's mother was ill and died early in your stay so my wife only spent a day of the vacation. The weather turned cold and rainy for three days. We were forced to stay inside for a good share of the vacation time,
