I don't want to write a review of the dexter as I'd like to keep it a secret. But here goes. A repeat and then some of what others have said. A clean wonderful apartment, and for me a second home. a great neighborhood. close to the beaches, the sobe excitement, south point. i bring my car down and don't use it again until i leave. courtyard in the back to sit in on cooler, rainy, etc. days and really no downsides. me gusta mucho.

Best Peaceful Vacation In South Beach

When I booked my stay at The Dexter I was hoping it was a peaceful, relaxing location in a quiet residential neighborhood, like advertised. It was - and more! Not only were the accomodations fantastic (clean and neat), the property itself was tranquil, with a soothing courtyard out back. I would often work on my laptop out there, under the gazebo (they have great WiFi). In fact, I actually worked from The Dexter, moving my online business down to South Beach for the Winter, with the only distractions being the sunshine, the beach and my favorite all-time restuarant (Big Pink) only a couple blocks away. They deliver 24 hours a day, too! I rented a bike, shopped at the nearby Publix, and felt like I really lived there. I wasn't a "tourist", I was a neighbor. Frank, the owner, was attentive, always helpful and there for me whenever I needed him (which was rarely). There's a maid service which came by once a week to change the sheets, provide towels, etc. But there's also a laundry out back, which was nice. When I did want to "party" the clubs, restuarants and shopping of South Beach were only a few blocks away within easy walking distance. Taxis are readily available, too. Coming "home" to The Dexter was great compared to puling into a hotel at the end of a long day of fun in the sun. Did mention Big Pink delivers? :)) Thanks for the great time Frank, and I'll definitely be back if you're not fully booked for next year! - Mark

The location is fantastic.It is residential area ,close to Art Deco Quarter,several good restaurants around.It is also safe,quiet,there is a place to park your car and you can walk to the beach and to the Art Deco Quarter.Also , it was very thoughtful the housekeeping in the middle of the week.

We really enjoyed our stay at the "Dexter". It was very convenient to the beach and shopping. Definitely better then staying in a hotel. Very clean and cozy. The owner went out of his way to make sure everything was ok and acquaint us with the area. We will definitely be back.

Excelente lugar - Comodo y tranquilo

Estuvimos alli todo el mes de Abril 2009 junto a mi mujer (embarazada), en el apartamento 3. A mitad de mes llego mi madre. El lugar es muy tranquilo y muy cerca de la playa y de Ocean Drive. Caminando se accede a un paseo muy lindo del lado del canal de acceso al puerto. Lugar ideal para vacaciones con acceso muy sencillo y practico. El apartamento muy comodo y con todos los elementos necesarios para cocinar y guardar. Todo muy limpio y ordenado. La habitacion muy linda y comoda. El sillon cama donde durmio mi madre, muy comodo tambien. Acceso al bano a traves de 2 puertas, por lo que no se molesta a nadie en la habitacion o en el living mientras se duerme. Excelente atencion de sus propietarios. Cualquier consulta siempre atentos.

Perfect SoBe Condo!

This place has everything we needed for a week in South Beach. Walking distance to clubs and restaurants, and the beach. Very easy to get to transportation if you need to get further up the beach or downtown. Plus there's a back patio to relax in the Atlantic breezes just to get away from it all! Much better than a hotel room, with extra space, and a kitchenette for cooking (if you get tired of those SoBe eateries!). We will be back!

Clean, Convenient Condo is SOBE

This property we stayed at was a cute 1 bedroom condo that fulfilled all of our needs. A kitchenette area was available to cook in if eating out was not your thing every night. A beautiful back yard oasis with plenty of palms was great to relax in at any time of day. We were only 2-3 blocks away from the beach! The owner was so accomodating! We will be back next year Frank, we were so happy with the accomodations. It was AFFORDABLE, off the beaten path just a smidge so it was quiet when you wanted to sleep, and within walking distance to great clubs, restaurants and the beach! I would suggest this to any of my friends or family!

We're an early 40's couple with two older kids. We stayed at this property over Christmas and New Years and we had a fantastic time. From the moment we arrived, we were treated like family by the hosts. The unit was large enough for the four of us and came with every amenity we would need. The location is perfect, close to the action (beach, restaurants, shopping) but nice and quiet. Having a parking permit is a real plus in this area because parking is not cheap. The backyard is a real oasis, a perfect place to start your day with a coffee or end your day with a cocktail!

I recently stayed 5 nights in this property over the New Year's holiday with 2 friends. It was a perfect place for the 3 of us girls! We had more than enough room and the apartment is quite comfortable. The decor is cute inside & the yard outside is like a little oasis to relax. Frank was an excellent host...extremely helpful & friendly from the correspondence for reservations through our stay and beyond. The location on Meridian couldn't be better as it is walking distance to all that South Beach has to offer yet quietly removed from the hustle & bustle. I would definitely stay again. So take advantage of this spot if ur coming to Miami!!

our stay was everything we could hope for, and were attended to all of our needs. The place was new and furnished in a tasteful manner. The neighborhood is quiet and a few blocks from the beach, which is a pleasant walk. behind the building is a great garden offering a beautiful getaway from everything. also keep an eye out for the cat and its Hemingway paws! she is adorable. I had to wait for my rental apartment to be finished and needed a solution to stay somewhere, but I did not want to be accomodated at a hotel. so I found this and loved it right away. Erwin & Frank were very hospitable and the way they maintain the beautifully decorated apartment is very pleasing. I loved to sleep in the bed (the linens are changed weekly and smell so clean & fresh). It is a really great location in South Beach to get a good night sleep. Cable TV with 80 channels & secured internet access. A turtle in the mosaic of the countertop in the kitchen makes it a real floridian gem. I loved it there. The best alternative to my own home!

From the time my wife and I decided to go for this apartment,the corrospondence prior to securing the place was most cordial and honest with Frank. We booked the apartment for 28 days and got a very reasonable monthly rate; I say very reasonable as this was over the spring break and Easter weekend periods. I was working during this period with my wife 'holidaying' - the apartment has the most suitable location; easy walking distance to the beach and shopping areas and very easy access to the motorway heading out. The apartment itself is very clean and tastefully decorated which allows for a very pleasant stay. Frank is available for any issues regarding the apartment (we had none) and will also advise on other issues; his friendliness was immensely appreciated. The apartment is cleaned once a week with a linen change, and there are heaps of towels available. We will definitely opt to stay here when the opportunity arises again. So to Frank and Erwin - well done Guys!!!!!!

Quite and Friendly Stay!

If you are looking for a place to stay in South Beach, you should consider 336 Meridian ave. My husband and I lived in SoBe for 6 years, so we know the area very well and enjoy South Beach a lot. When we had to find a short-term rental, we ended up meeting Frank and Erwin who take care of “The Dexter”, this charming and calm art deco building. We have a three-year old so for us, it is important to stay at a place where you can sleep well through the night. At the Dexter, it was always very quite even though we were still only steps away from the glittery night life and great restaurants that South Beach has to offer. The apartment was clean and nicely decorated too. Dealing with Erwin and Frank was only a plus to this rental. They are very professional and polite, really nice people. The rate was good too and we hope it remains like that since we plan to come back when the time comes. Sincerely, Rafaela and Alberto (a satisfied couple).

We are a couple in our late 20's. We stayed here for 9 nights. We loved it and will come back here again. We highly recommend this property for many reasons. 1. The location is great--walking distance to everything central--the beach and Ocean Drive (5-10 mins walk--4 short blocks), restaurants. It is a safe and quiet location as well. Parking available. 2. Apartment: CLEAN, well-kept and taken-care-of, nicely decorated & furnished, perfect. It literally has everything you need, especially if traveling with children, (because you have a full kitchen). Comfortable bed, clean sheets & towels, new floors and furniture, brand-new rug. The owners are really taking good care of this place; they put their heart into decorating and taking constant care of this place and it really shows. Really impressive. 3. The owners: very accomodating, hospitalble, & pleasant people. Willing to help at anytime of day or night with anything we needed. Almost too good to be true. 4. Great value for price
