Description of the Michigan City vacation cottage rental

This cottage is located in a resort community (tennis, private lake & beach, pool, boat park plus private access to Lake Michigan beach (1 block). Resort feels like Martha's Vineyard. This home features kid friendly amenities (PS2 tons of video & books/games). It is located across from the waterfall pond, 1/2 block the pool, Lake Kai, deli/ice cream and the new park. This cottage also has a fireplace for chilly apple/pumpkin picking days or frosty football weekends. A large back deck (plus outdoor shower to rinse sand) is perfect for outdoor gatherings and grilling. There are 2 bedrooms with an additional loft area. 2 full baths, a queen bed, bunk bed with trundle, a twin boat bed w/ trundle in the loft. This home also feature wireless internet and ipod docking station surround sound throughout home. No smoking. No pets. This home is a weekly rental in season and weekends off season. Sleeps 7.

This is a Lake Michigan city beach area. The Washington Park area includes a Marina, a huge grassy park area adjacent to the beach for play, outdoor music theater and picnics. There is also the beautiful Washington Park Zoo which over looks Lake Michigan. This area is within a 3 minute drive to the NEW Blue Chip Casino and the Michigan City Outlet Mall (250 stores). A 20 minute drive will get you to the 4 Winds Casino. This Martha Vineayard type neighborhood is 5 miles from the Michigan boarder for skiing/tubing/snowboarding and also apple/pumpkin picking.

This area offers both summer and winter adventures.

We just returned from the Beachwalk Resort after spending a week at the Harbor Lights vacation home. It was a picture perfect family vacation! I had never been to the lakeshore in Indiana and was a bit skeptical, but what a nice surprise. The beach is perfect and exceeded my expectations & location a Michigan Harbor Country is just perfect as well. Beachwalk is great for kids. It is so relaxing and kids can safely ride bikes and play in the street, go to the pool, the playground, etc. My 2 & 4 yr old just loved Harbor Lights. Every detail is very well thought out and has a super cute nautical/boating theme. They just had a blast called it the "purple house". My 2 yr old said, "I wuv you, purple house" as we were driving away. We will definitely be back. Harbor Lights is possibly the cutest house in all of Beachwalk. It really is extra special with the lghthouse shape, the theming, the backyard and the location. Owner Heather Stout was extremely helpful throughout the rental process. I was hesitant about Michigan City and waffling on the properties and after a phone call with her I was completely sold. Harbor Lights/Beachwalk lived up to her description and exceeded my expectations. Great for kids, great for adults, wonderful & relaxing. I feel so refreshed! Quick note on the other review. Treehouse Restuarant recently closed...might be seasonal? We LOVED Villa Nova pizza and The Stray Dog in New Buffalo, and Rios mexican. Delicious homemade tortillas, very fresh mex!

 

 Amazing Family Vacation!, August 25, 2009

We recently stayed at Harbour Lights at Beachwalk resort and the reviews of the whole family was that this was a spectacular place. The owners of Harbour Lights are fantastic and take extra care to ensure that their place is in top notch shape. They went the extra mile to see that the interior of the beachhouse was had excellent finishing touches (unlike some other rentals at Beachwalk). We are a family of 4. Our two boys are turning 5 and 3 this year and each really enjoyed staying at Beachwalk. This is a very friendly place for little kids and there are lots of little activities to make the day pass by. The beach itself is amazing and it was a daily event to pull the wagon with the 2 boys to the beach. Places to eat in the area include the Tree House Restaurant on the way to New Buffalo. Great family friendly place that allows Mom and Dad to enjoy a glass of wine or a beer while the kids play in the sandy "backyard" of the restaurant. All in all a fantastic vacation and one that we look forward to repeating.
