A Slice of Heaven
June 20, 2014
The night we arrived, our family walked in to what would be our own gorgeous, spacious and oh-so-comfortable getaway home for the next few days, and instantly agreed we needed to return next year. On the final day, we left feeling the time was too short, and sad to go. Our family included 2 adult children, their spouses and children, one 18-year old, a cousin and a friend. We rarely needed to leave the property (except for those who took our boat out to go fishing), because there was an abundance of things to do to fill our days as we all reconnected and left our busy lives on the road. The gazebo offered a special place for snoozing to the sound of the lake against beach, the children had ample room to play inside and out, the teens claimed the lower level "man cave", my husband sampled almost every comfortable chair (there were too many for him to try in our "limited time") when he wasn't fishing. And did I mention how magical it was to reminisce in front of the stone fire pit, while sipping wine and indulging on smores? On several nights, the full moon cast a mirror image on the lake, which I could see from our bedroom. And very early on the last day, while the house slept, my husband and I spotted a lone deer gently grazing in view. What a perfect ending! Our hosts, Stan and Linda, couldn't have been more gracious and helpful for anything we needed, which wasn't much, because they thought of everything and the house was better stocked with creature comforts and gadgets than we could have imagined! And many thanks to their sidekick, Gus (a black lab), who was happy to give hugs. See you next year!
