Untouched by commercialism, the nearest secret black sand beach (Honomalino) lined with coconut trees and containing archaeological sites, is 20 minutes hiking from Milolii Beach Park. It is what real Old, Hawaii was on the island and is perfect for the adventurer.

A leisurely drive away is the Kailua-Kona downtown shopping areas where you will find a variety of clubs, stores and restaurants. You may wish to dine at the 'Captain Cook , one of the other surfers type restaurants on winding roads that criss-cross the island.
