Area Description

The Little Muskego Lake area is an area where lake living, rural atmosphere and new development all come together. The Muskego are is 25% covered by water, Little Muskego lake, Danoon Lake and Wind Lake. Located 20 minutes southwest of downtown Milwaukee and 90 minutes from Downtown Chicago Sportsman Island is meets the needs of those who want the "up north" atmosphere and the ability to experience city life close by. Even within 5 minutes there are major grocery and shopping areas as well as fine restaurants and night clubs. Located 2 miles off I-43 makes Sportsman Island a very convenient place to vacation.

All Metro Milwuakee activities are very close (within 20 miles) and easily accessible. As well as everything between Milwaukee and Chicago, in addition to Chicago, such as the Kenosha Outlet Mall, Gurnee Mills and Great America. There are also many golf courses including Apine Valley which is a major concert venue and ski hill in the winter. From Sportsman Island snowmobiles can access the state trail system.

A Very Enjoyable Week on the Island, June 14, 2009

We spent a week on the island and had a great time. The home's unique location was the highlight. Surrounded on all sides by Little Muskego Lake, the home gives the feel of being 'up north'. I haven't lived in Wisconsin for over 30 years, but this visit brought back many fond local memories. The celebrated occasion was the graduation of my son, William. My sister, Mary, graciously offered to host a graduation party so all of our relatives could join us without travelling to Denver. The party was great fun and we were all more than a bit tired after it was all over. Other 'events' during the week included a Brewers-Rockies game (which the Rockies won), a tornado warning while we were out on the lake fishing, skeet shooting with both the 20 gauge over/under and the 410, boating, fishing, many campfires, knit shop hunting, and antique shop scouting. The week passed too quickly but we are glad to be home ... just in time to celebrate William's 18th birthday and prep for DU.
