Everything we were looking for

We just returned from a week at this peaceful and relaxing lake house and can't recommend it enough! It's close to the water, but there's plenty of grassy area to enjoy as well, and we were pleasantly surprised to find many lovely places to sit and enjoy the scenery or read: on the porch swing, Adirondack chairs, the second floor deck...it was really beyond our expectations. We had a fire in the firepit every night, and slept great on the king bed upstairs. You can walk right into the water (it does have some weeds right at the shore, so it's not exactly an open sandy beach, but our dog enjoyed swimming, and as for us, we just floated on an inflatable raft out a bit to where the water was clear and beautiful and swam there). We also appreciated the canoe, pedal boat, and rowboat, because although the lake is small, it was fun to explore, and we saw at least 5 loons on the lake at all times, plus several days we saw cormorants and even a bald eagle! The owners are nearby and are very sweet. They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. We really loved the large outdoor table to eat meals at (and it's covered so if there's a rain shower you can still eat outside) and there's a wonderful long table inside that was perfect for playing cards at night. It was great to have a nearby convenience store for necessities and Wal-Mart and grocery store are only 15 min. away. Overall, highly recommended, and we feel very lucky to have found this gem and hope to return!

Great Experience

The cottage was great and had everything you could think of or needed. The lake was very tranquil, and we enjoyed a nice canoe ride in the evening. Cari and Jon were great to deal with and very accommodating. We will definately be back for another visit. Would recommend this cottage to family and friends.

Peaceful, beautiful

Serenaded by loons and bullfrogs! We had a great time. Something for everyone to do. Paddle boats, fire pit, boardgames and internet. The owners were thoughtful and friendly. Everything we needed was provided and more. We had a wonderful time. ; This is our 2nd year there and we will be going back again next year.

Home away from home

We needed a place to stay fast to go home to Maine. My grandmother of 93 years passed and everything was hectic with not much selection of quality hotels in the area. I found this gem of a property through a google search. I called Mrs. D and was promptly making arrangements. Upon our arrival everything was all set up and ready for us. The sense of home was very welcoming. Thank you!

Summer Camp

Didn't know what to expect when we first made arrangements to rent the property. Lived in that area growing up and never remembered there being a lake in that area. what we found was a hidden treasure. Quite and peaceful. You felt like you could almost reach out and touch the lake from the back porch/deck. Was one of the best vacations we have taken over the 25 years we have been married. The hosts were great making sure you had eveything you needed. But all you needed was your clothes and food everyhting else was there. Paddle boat and canoe during the day and sit around a huge campfire every night!!! Great place to vacation!!!!! Probably the cleanest renteal we have ever had. Loved it!!!!

This is a wonderful location, each year our family gets together at a camp, this years choice was by far one of the best, the lake is beautiful, the location is convienent for day trips... we enjoyed the ATV trails and kyaks. The cabin is clean and spacious, we enjoyed the deck, and times around the fire pit. The owners are very accomadating, and so friendly our children and grandchildren all enjoyed themselves. Thankyou Liz and Doug for a wonderful time!!!

Great place to stay, Cari & Jon were great and very helpful, made sure we had everything we needed to enjoy our stay, so peaceful and quiet, sit and look out on the lake and at night the stars were so bright and looked so close that you almost felt like you could reach up an touch them. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great time!!!

Our Family Vacatoin 2011

Our vacation at Conroy Lake was amazing. We couldn't have asked for better host in Cari and Jon. The lake is so peaceful and quiet. Watching the loons and fishing in the lake was wonderful. My kids had so much fun fishing off the dock. There was ample area for the kids to ride bike and a pool at the camp ground near by that we able to spend the day at. The cabin has everything you could ever need for your stay. Can't wait to come back again next year. I posted pictures from our stay on facebook and have had many friends ask for details on this cabin. They have all send it make them want to go to Maine.

Upon our arrival at the property, we were struck by how spacious the upstairs was, the magnificent view from the upper deck, the selection of comfortable beds, and the jacuzzi tub. Downstairs, there's a living room area, a full kitchen, bathroom and additional beds. Outside, there's a selection of furniture, gas grill, table, fireplace, and citronella candles to help you cope with the Maine bugs. We enjoyed sitting by the large windows or outside watching loons, hummingbirds, chickadees, ducks. My elderly mother enjoyed a day trip since the back allows easy access for the semi-disabled. The owners were wonderful, checking to ensure we were enjoying our stay, without being intrusive. This is a property I would definitely rent again.

A piece of heaven

This was the second year in a row that we have stayed in Monticello. I can not explain the feeling this place gives us. The peace and quiet here is amazing. In the mornings you wake to loons on the lake from a deck on the second floor, that you can sit on and overlook, watching the early morning mist lift, it is like being in heaven. This is what relaxing is all about. I can never wait to go back. We are planning our next trip the day after we get home. Everything is there for you. Besides your food, you do not want for anything else. We have told everyone about our experience here, I do not think they believe us, so we will have to just take them there. From the first day we arrived here, 2 years ago, I can not imagine going any where else. My husband and I will continue to visit this place for as long as we can, and hopefully have our family enjoy our experiences also. Karen London

Fall Hunting Trip

The vacation home provided us with a very comfortable and cheery return from the field at the end of each hunting day. Everything that we needed was there, which really helps when you are cold and tired. The modern kitchen and all its appliances and furnishings allowed us to prepare our game and cook our meals without any inconvenience. The setting on the lake was terrific, and we really felt great about taking this trip. Cari and John (our hosts) were very friendly and responsive to our arrival and stay. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a relaxing holiday or stay in the great outdoors.

A Perfect Reunion/Vacation

We were so lucky to find this spot for a wonderful reunion with family and friends when we returned for Fran's 60th Houlton High School reunion. Conroy lake and the cabin had all the ammenities for a secluded and peaceful stay yet was close enough (10 miles)to Houlton for us to attend festivities. We especially appreciated the spacious covered patio area with its lake view as we entertained family and friends. We made good use of the boats for exploring and fishing. We were often entertained by two resident loons who seemed to "own" the lake and a bull frog who "owned" our shoreline. The cabin was superbly furnished and Jon and Cari were most attentive hosts. We were there during an unusual heat wave and were always comfortable in the cool lower and air conditioned upper levels. When we had a minor plumbing malfunction, Jon was there in less than five minutes for an immediate fix. We can't say enough about their concern for our comfort and satisfaction. We look forward to returning to this perfect spot in 2012!

Beautiful Views and Home

This was a great experience for our first trip to Maine. The house is comfortable and well-equipped with internet, full cable, use of a small boat and paddleboat, and nicely stocked kitchen, linens etc. Houlton is near the New Brunswick, Canada, border so we took a day-trip there, too. The owner was very friendly and the house view of the lake is spectacular from both downstairs/lawn and also the upper deck. It was just my husband and I so we enjoyed having the place to ourselves. Groups should be aware that the house has basically two big rooms, with sleeping areas upstairs curtained off (no doors) and the downstairs has two twin beds plus a sleep sofa - all in the same area. We had no privacy issues for us (as a couple) but the lack of interior doors (other than bathrooms, of course) was a bit of a surprise. PS: The master BR has a jacuzzi tub right in the room, which is a nice touch. The other bathroom had a conventional tub/shower. We hope to rent here again.

Perfect little house

We have finally found the perfect house for us to stay in. Jon and Cari go above and beyond to make sure that your stay is carefree and pleasant. Everything you could possibly need is already provided for you...right down to fresh flowers on the table. Since we were able to bring our dog it was a true family vacation. We loved it so much we have already reserved it for a week next summer. Stay here and you won't be disappointed...I promise!

Home Away From Home

After renting many cabins in northern Maine we have found our PARADISE vacation spot !!! We just returned home and we are already making plans for a fall vacation !!! Jon & Cari go all out to make sure your stay is carefree and relaxing. All you need are your clothes and food and that is it. Great price and pet friendly! RELAX and ENJOY ... We wished we could have stayed longer than a week.. We did not want to leave! It was worth the ride from Delaware.

We just returned home 2 days ago from our long weekend at the cottage. The Fall is a beautiful time to visit! My husband and I were very impressed with the cottage and all of its amenities. We were amazed at how well-stocked the place was. We did not even need to bring half the stuff we did! Cari and Jon have clearly put a lot of thought into the place. Cari and Jon were very friendly and helpful, and we feel fortunate to have met them. Our dog also had a blast running through the pines! We look forward to returning again next year.

The Epitomy of Summer on a Lake in Maine

My family and I came out from Rural Southern Oregon and found the most perfect vacation retreat. We cannot express enough our appreciation for the hospitality and the wonderful setting for our summer vacation. Loons, Canoeing, fishing, firefly's, campfires, wisps of fog on the water early in the morn.... PARADISE! For anyone desiring a truly Maine experience, you cannot go wrong here. Fully furnished, full amenities and a truly full experience. whether you are single, a couple or have children, this is a one-fit for all. We spent 12 days and absolutely hated to leave. This truly fits the motto of Maine - "The way life should be"!!!
