Description of the Montombraro Di Zocca vacation home rental
Torre is a stone tower with three-bedrooms. It is on five levels. Built into the hillside, there are two ground floors. On the lower level there is a small, fully equipped kitchen with a door to a small patio area. Stairs lead up to a living/dining room with a fireplace and a door to the garden area with a table and chairs for dining al fresco. Steep stone steps lead up to the bedrooms.
Second floor bedroom has got a queen bed (two twins made together), third floor bedroom hahas two single beds and fourth floor bedroom has got a queen bed.
All bedrooms have private bathrooms with shower.
Area Description
Zocca is characterized by a mountain landscape of great importance, along with an important network of pathways for hikers, horseback riders and mountain bikers through ancient villages, castles and churches. Many are the recreational activities offered: a vast and diverse program of events enlivens the summer season.
Zocca is known as one of the Cities of the Chestnut: during the month of October, the renowned Festival of the Chestnut is held here.
A large part of the territory is occupied by the Regional Park of Sassi di Roccamalatina, natural habitat of great importance, visited for both learning purposes, as well as for recreational activities, and ideal destination for hikers and mountain bikers.
Every week we offer COOKERY COURSES for adults and children, whose subjects are:
1- PASTE EMILIANE: how to make hand made egg-pasta; Tagliatelle, Lasagne and Tortelloni with Bolognese sauce seasoning and more.
2- BOLOGNESE MENU: a complete 4-dishes bolognese traditional dinner : Lasagne or Tortellini, a meat dish, a side dish with season’s vegetables and a dessert.
3- PRIMI PIATTI ITALIANI: how to make different types of « primi piatti »: Gnocchi, Risotto and Pasta, following recipes from many italian regions.
4- PIZZA and FOCACCIA: how to realize the traditional Pizza and Focaccia.
The cookery courses are designed for enthusiastic amateurs, gourmets and anyone who appreciates food, wine and cooking. The participants will be executing the dishes and will taste them at the end of the course together in a friendly and familiar atmosphere.
We stayed at Tower in May 2006 and enjoyed our stay very, very much and wanted to let you know how much we liked it.
The building itself is wonderful, you made a great job on the restoration, the interior is very nicely furnished and decorated, the setting and the environment are great. And we have been lucky with the weather, too. It was a big advantage that the village itself was within walking distance from Torre. The fact there are some shops (bakery, grocery, salumi) is very convenient. For us it was a pleasant morning stroll to fetch bread and food for breakfast (or aperitif in the evening) and have our first cappuccino there on the bar terrace. Same thing for the restaurants in the village: we didn't need to take the car with somebody having to drive and cutting on the wine. Especially dinner at that farm just around the corner was a real surprise.
All maps and touristy brochures in the house were very handy: the maps of Bologna and Modena (knowing where to drive and park), the walking trails of the area, etc. May be interesting to mention the tourist office in Zocca but everything necessary was actually in the house. Compliments for the house. Fabulous renovated and with a great internal decoration, just like the houses-to-dream-of in the magazines. Located in beautiful surroundings and with lovely people and cute animals in the neighbourhood. "I Fontanini" is a good place to make some cultural trip like visiting Bologna, or just to relax in perfect quietness. Many thanks for everything!
