Idyllic renovated 1900 Vermont Schoolhouse (#39312)
Morristown, VermontDescription of the Morristown vacation cottage rental
Three-bedroom, 2 full baths, eat-in kitchen, dining room, living room, laundry, and porch on 4 acres.
Retreat to the warmth, comfort, and special beauty of my 3-bedroom newly renovated schoolhouse. Large windows throughout the house admit great quantities of sunlight and glorious views. Ground floor is loft-style, each area opening onto the next. The country kitchen is very spacious and equipped with new appliances, a large center island for food preparation, and a large eating area.
The kitchen opens directly onto the dining room area, with a farmer's table that sits 8 comfortably, a sideboard and chest. Just beyond the dining room area is a charming living room with a new plasma tv and dvd player. The furnishings are almost entirely antique. There is also a full bathroom with a large walk-in shower.
On the second floor there are three bedrooms, two of which have skylights facing the Mount Mansfield range to the west. There is also a study with a large work table, internet connection, and bookshelves. The master bedroom just beyond the study has a hand-crafted armoire and a small gas stove that provide plenty of warmth on cold days. There is also a second full bathroom with a fine old claw-foot tub as well as a separate laundry room with a new washer and dryer.
In winter, ski (x-country or downhill), snowboard, snowshoe, or stay indoors to read, write, and sip hot chocolate; in spring and summer, swim, hike, bike, or bask on the spacious lawns surrounding the house; in fall, explore the foliage, farmers' markets, and fine food at local restaurants in nearby towns. The schoolhouse offers a glorious retreat from hectic city life.
Located on 4.5 acres in Wolcott with superb 360-degree views of farmlands, woodlands, meadows, and the Mount Mansfield range nearby. Vermont is home to organic farmers, artists, artisans, and all people who yearn for time away from hectic city life.
The schoolhouse is located in Vermont's spectacular Northeast Kingdom. A short drive brings you to Stowe (25 minutes), Montpelier, St. Johnsbury, or Burlington (45-60 minutes). A 6-hour drive from Manhattan, one hour and fifteen minutes from the Burlington International Airport, and 2 1/2 hours from Montreal.
