Description of the Mount Airy vacation home rental
This renovated old mill house is only two block from downtown in 'Mayberry' where you can experience all the landmarks and friendly people just like on the show. Charm, charm, charm...and comfortable for up to 4 individuals.
No pets, no smokers (owner is allergic) This is a 'get away' place for Mount Airy natives who hope to retire there but meantime sometimes rent it out to special folks who will love it as their own.
It is all on one level and has only one step in from the carport, vinyl and laminate floors make it accessible for a smaller wheelchair or walker but it isn't officially handicapp approved. It has two bedrooms (queen size beds), a hall bath with shower in the tub, and open living room- kitchen- dining room and a four rocking chair front porch. There is ac/heat, paddle fans, TV, laundry for emergencies only, and clever and comfortable decor everyone loves. Owner is Archit./Int. Designer and Artist and the whole house reflects it!
Rates are 200. per night for festivals (min. three nights), 150.00 per night Sun.-Thurs. non festival (three nights minimum), and 175.00 per night week ends (2 nights minimum). Security deposit matches your rent fee and will be returned promptly in its entirety if all is well upon inspection after you check out. Check in is 3PM and out 11:AM
Full names of all occupants, vehicle make, model, color, tag and copy of driver's license required and will be faxed to local police to know who has permission to be there. Anyone else will be tresspassing.
Cancellation considered no less than eight FULL days prior to your reservation dates, otherwise payment is kept and a possible credit given for another time of owner's choosing.
The neighborhood is friendly, safe, and looks like it came off the set of Andy's show. It is a marvelouw place to rest, read, and replenish your spirit with no phone or doorbell to break the serenity. Good local restaurants are a short walk or drive away and many free activities abound and others are ongoing with low admission price (such as the 3.00 movie downtown, live music several places around, squad car tours, wagon rides through downtown, etc etc. You will LOOOOOVE this place....it is a step back in time when life was simplier, safer, and full of nice people who made time to visit as they passed on the street or in the stores. Everyone who goes wants to come back again and share it with others.... we bet you will as well !
Mount Airy is in the foothills of the blue Ridge Mountains and is home to the largest open face granite Quarry in the world, it is the homeplace of Andy Griffith, and basically the 'scene' of his 'Mayberry' town on his famous TV show. You can eat at Barney's, the Blue Bird Cafe, Leon's, Snappy Lunch, get a haircut at Floyd's, enjoy live music at designated places and others where folks just stop and start to play just for pure pleasure. There is a terrific museum with four floors taking you through Surry County history, an active wedding chapel where you can indeed tie the knot, the jail and courthouse famous from the set, the 3.00 movie theatre downtown, the state of the art ampitheatre, the Andy Griffith playhouse, his childhood home, squad car rides, wagon rides through downtown, lots of interesting shops to browse, a short ride to the scenic Blue Ridge Parkway, Mabrey's Mill, Pilot Mountain (town) and Pilot Mountain State Park, several wineries in the area, the springs at the onetime internationally known White Sulphur Springs Hotel (now gone) where famous people all over the world came to spend their summers and bathe in the healing waters (take your own jug and help yourself at no charge at the spring). There is a state of the art hospital, many old mills now turned condo, million dollar homes as well as working class mill homes close to town where the people walked to work every day for generations until the mills and furniture factories closed some years back. Our little place is the only one in town available furnished and for short term lease to the right persons who will enjoy it and treat it like the treasure it truly is.

- Deposits: Same as rental dates totaled. All will be cheerfully and promptly returned if the property is left in the same condition as when the renter's first arrived. A careful check will be made after you check out. We take a lot of pride in the condition of our property inside and out.
