Description of the Mount Vernon vacation cabin rental
You will want to rise-n-shine early in the morning to enjoy your coffee on the back porch or deck while enjoying the 210 degree view of the lake. Grab your paper or fishing pole and head down to our private dock to relax in the rocking chairs to witness the sunrise and the lake come to life. Lake Bob Sandlin is approximate 10,000 acres with a 120 mile shoreline known for its trophy fishing and an abundance of ducks, coots, heron and other birds. During the winter months, we have witnessed two bald eagles in our back yard. Let’s not forget the raccoons, squirrels and deer! If fishing is not your forte, then swing lazily in our lakeside hammocks reading your favorite book while enjoying spectacular views of the lake. Plenty of antique shops and places to eat in nearby Mount Vernon, Mount Pleasant and Pittsburg…just minutes away.
Our two story log home has a vaulted ceiling with a stone fireplace…with views of the lake. During the winter months, you can nestle by the fireplace or make s’mores in the chimeniea on the deck. The dining area is open to the fully equipped kitchen with refrigerator, ice maker, microwave, dishwasher, coffeemaker, toaster and blender while the ironing board, iron, washer and dryer are located in the utility room. Full cookware and dinnerware. Custom stained glass windows add color and light…while much of the furniture is handcrafted from logs…adding to the coziness of our home. The large breakfast counter/food prep area is highlighted by a mosaic of the Texas Flag while discretely tucking away a complete entertainment center that includes TV, DirectTV Satellite with XM Radio, DVD and Video Game System … with a limited library of music, movies and games. The video tape library is extensive as well as board games…just in case it rains. Yes, we now offer FREE Wi-Fi...ask for details. By the way, the perfect place for rain is on the back porch as the rain hits the tin roof.
Each of the 3 bedrooms is furnished with comfortable queen size beds. The downstairs master bedroom offers a TV/DVD/VCR combo, antique furnishing and a wonderful view of the lake…a perfect view to wake up to. The two bedrooms upstairs also offer TV/VCR units, one with lake view and the other with a view of the tree tops.
Ready for romance? For the adults, we have a hot tub on the rear deck…perfect for night time use while stargazing.
Enjoy dazzling sunsets, great fishing, and the serenity of the outdoors. Bring your boat or jet ski (rentals nearby) to explore the lake. Sunbathe, swim or float the day away.
Area Information
Located in the piney and hardwood forests of Northeast Texas, Pittsburg is a great place to live, work, start a new business, or for a weekend getaway vacation. If you love the outdoors, Pittsburg is close to two state parks and five large lakes with an abundance of water sports - boating, fishing and skiing. Or if you prefer historic buildings and homes, antique shopping, and museums, Pittsburg has these things and more. Pittsburg takes you back to slower paced, gentler times when everyone was friendly and helpful.
Designated as an historic Main Street City in 1986, Pittsburg's charm is evident in its lovely shops and a prayer tower with Paccard bells from France that chime the hour with soft melodies that waft through town. Shop the many stores featuring antiques, clothing, shoes, gifts, crafts, and a 1950's style soda fountain or try our famous Pittsburg hot links. Pittsburg has many excellent restaurants, bed and breakfasts, and don't miss our famous peaches, blueberries, and strawberries in the spring. Home of two award winning museums, one featuring railroads and the Ezekiel Airship and one farmstead museum which takes you back to the days of your grandparents.
Stroll back in time in Historic Pittsburg, a Texas Historical Commission Main Street City since 1986. The turn-of-the-century buildings, lovely historic homes and churches with awe-inspiring stained glass windows make a visit here a time to remember. Tracing your East Texas ancestors is easy in the large genealogical section of the public library and at the friendly county court house. Historic graveyards abound in the area, many with marked graves dating in the 1850s. Camp County has over 25 historic markers within its boundaries.

Quiet place to relax
January 28, 2012
Enjoyed the lake house. The neighborhood is very quiet. Really relaxing weekend. House was very cozy and clean.

Loved it!
August 10, 2011
The lake house was in clean and excellent condition. Lovely place with a fantastic lakefront setting. Extremely quiet and peaceful. We really enjoyed the time on the lake and the dock was a great size for hanging out with our large family. The lake was very low (~8') due to the drought, so that made it a little more challenging to enjoy the dock to its full potential, but we were still able to have a wonderful time on the peaceful lake whether it be just floating on rafts or skiing/tubing behind the boat we rented for the week. The owner was great to work with!

Great fishing, wonderful facility
June 20, 2011
This is a very well appointed, clean and neat rental facility on a beautiful lake. The large and comfortable dock provided shade to relax in and read or fish or just look at the water. A very restful and enjoyable weekend!
