Description of the Mountain Home vacation cabin rental

Set on 12 lakefront acres, with gorgeous views of Lake Norfork from every angle. Grand entrance is by a 2 acre circular driveway through hundreds of giant oak trees.

The back garden slopes down to the woods and to the lake beyond - it features a private 40ft swimming pool with luxurious king-sized circular daybeds and sun loungers. Perfect for family vacations, there is something for everyone - a 9-hole frisbee golf course, shuffleboard, horseshoe pit, 46-inch flatscreen TV with DVD, Bose surround sound and WII entertainment system.

The cabin has been completely renovated to the standards of a top five star hotel. Complete with 300 thread count organic cotton sheets, luxurious bathrobes, multijet showers, stainless steel appliances and stylish decor. The fully furnished deck is over 700 square feet, ideal for entertaining - with stunning views! The deck and gardens would lend themselves perfectly to a glamorous wedding, celebration, party or special event.

Accommodation consists of two master suites, each with king beds, and an en suite bathroom with his and hers sinks. There is also a children's bedroom with two queen beds and an en suite bathroom. There is a queen sofabed in the living room and two pull out twin beds which could be placed in any of the rooms, so full capacity could be up to 10 people.

The lodge staff would be delighted to help you plan excursions, fishing and guide services or catering for a special event. There are a selection of top notch boats and toys available for hire if you would like to hit the lake in style.

Area Description

The lake is smooth and quiet, ideal for water skiing, wake boarding and knee boarding. There is a 50-acre wooded peninsular adjacent to the cabin for hiking and trail walking. Trout fishing is amongst the best in the USA, choose from Lake Norfork, the Norfork or the White River. Other family activities include Blanchard Caverns, waterfalls of Buffalo National Park, floating the Buffalo River, rock climbing, horse riding and hiking.

Firstly, I know you are in shock from the title! I was as surprised as you are to find a luxury resort in Arkansas. Having traveled around the world a few times staying in luxury hotels, I have seen some outstanding locations and sumptuous suites. But nothing could prepare me for the Ozark Mountains - simply glorious, lush green rolling mountains - trees everywhere which of course leads to... birds. Hummingbirds, red cardinals, pileated woodpeckers, blue birds. If I hadn't of known better, I would have thought I was in Belize or Brazil. The lakes in these mountains are clear blue/green and a warm 80 degrees during the summer months. My days of the beach are over! Who needs sand and salt to ruin a perfectly good day. There was so much to do, I didn't know where to start - waterskiing was great fun once I got the hang of it. Hiking, trail walking - Arkansas has many waterfalls to discover and many rocky bluffs to climb for an amazing view. And the best thing of all was the complete lack of other people, was this what the planet was like before we all arrived?

So, onto the hotel - or should I say cabin - or could it be a luxury lakefront mansion? Maybe, except scaled down to a discreet 3 bedrooms - each with an en suite bathroom, a giant opulent bed and a view to end all others of the shimmering lake. All amenities and facilities were of a five star hotel - swimming pool, hot tub, daybeds, swing chairs and hammocks outside and designer furnishings inside. In fact, it was pretty difficult to leave home.

Our only complaint was that there is no restaurant on site, enterprising guests can fire up the barbecue - or you can request a chef. But we found a great barbecue joint just down the road which gave us a real taste of the south. My advice is to forget the beach this summer and check out this luxury secluded lake cabin in the Ozarks.
