Description of the Mountain Home vacation cottage rental
> Upgrades in the 2013 vacation season are tv's installed in the 2 lower level bedrooms. 5 Acres was purchased in front of the Getaway to leave in a natural, park like setting. Deer and sometimes wild turkey can be seen playingConsideration is being made to possibly add a walking trail thru the large oak trees and add a small cabin on the west end of this 5 Acres.
> Attached double carport with large circle drive which has enough room to park 4-5 truck/boat rigs in line of each other. Partially covered 12' X 52' deck across the back of the house with a full size Bar-B-Q grill. There are tables & chairs to seat 10 for your outdoor enjoyment where you can sit and enjoy watching deer & wild life, as well as the horses grazing in the pastures with some miniture donkeys who will come visit you if you invite them to do so. There is a Stone Fire Pit with picnic table and chairs. Firewood provided. (First rack is free, $10/each addition refill)
> There are 2 king beds, 2 queen beds, & 2 single beds. 5 flat screen HDTV's in the house. The Great Room is on the lower level & has walkout to a 16'X 52' patio. The great room has a large sectional sofa w/ 3 built-in Recliners, 32" HDTV, DVD, VCR, and Game Table. There is also a Movie Library of old movies for your convenience. A red box Movie rental just a couple miles away. Maximum occupancy for overnight is 10 people.
> No Pets allowed at the Getaway, but there are several kennels in the area. White Fence Kennel is a new facility just 3 miles away and is very nice and several guests like Deborah's Pet Salon in Mtn. Home. Check them out online if you travel with your pet. They are more like 'Pet Motels' than a kennel.
> Convenience Store with gas, groceries, food court, Dollar General, and a Subway less than 1 mile from house.
> In the spring, the dogwood trees show a blanket of white throughout the woods surrounding the property. The large oak trees are wonderful shade in the summer and in the fall their leaves are brilliant colors of yellow, orange, and red. The lakes& rivers are just minutes away to offer enjoyment relaxing with fishing or a swim to cool off on a hot summer day. Several Boat Docks located on both lakes offer boat rentals as to the docks on the White River.
> Ozark Regional Airport for private plane landings (no commercial flights) is just minutes away, if you choose to fly yourself in for a stay.Transportation may be arranged in advance to pick you up.
> Smoking is not allowed inside the house, but ash pots are available on the deck, patio, and front porch for those who do wish to smoke. Thank you for not smoking inside the house as it is a non-smoking guest house.
Area Information
> In Mountain Home you will find plenty of shopping, restaurants, antique stores, strip malls, WalMart, and beautiful parks. The area offers three 18 hole golf courses and several miniture golf courses for the golf enthusiasts.
> The Lakes and Rivers offer canoeing, swimming, fishing, boating, guided fishing trips, & caves to explore. All are just minutes away. Hiking, biking, horseback riding, or a day at a dude ranch are available within a few minutes drive. ATV trails are within a 30 min. drive in the Sylamore National Forest.
> 1 mile to the north is Double S Oaks Ranch where you can enjoy the excitement of horseback riding on their trails or in their indoor arena on a rainy day. Lessons are offered by experienced instructors or ride at your leisure. Reservations may be necessary. Due to hot weather, sometimes trailrides are not going out. Check online about reservations or to see if the trailrides are booked. There are brochures with phone numbers in the house.
> Stone Creek Ranch also offers horseback riding, trail rides, and activities. Check online for information regarding what all they are offering for the dates you are going to be here. There are brochures with phone numbers in the house.
> Bull Shoals has a lovely Visitor Center located at the Dam overlooking Bull Shoals Lake and the White River where you will find the History of the Ozarks to be very interesting and educational. It also offers you brochures of the area and a gift shop. There is a golf course and a look-out tower "Top of the Tower" at Bull Shoals where you can see for miles in all directions. Of course, the Lake will offer you any kind of water activity you might want.
> The Fish Hatchery at Lake Norfork Dam is always a real treat for kids and adults alike. Under age 16 can fish (catch & release) with no lisence in the Dry Run Fork at the Hatchery.
> Experience the beauty of the Lower Buffalo National River just 30 minutes to the Southwest. Here you will find plenty of bluffs, waterfalls, and caves while hiking, canoeing, and horseback riding in the wilderness area. For those of you that travel with your horses, arrangements can be made for boarding here at our Ozark Getaway Stable. Trail Guide available notice to take you into the wilderness, if you would like. Advance arrangements must be made for a Trail Guide.
> The Sylamore National Forest, is located to the South also offering hiking and mountain biking, as well as ATV and horseback trails.
> Silver Dollar City & White Water as well as Shopping at the Outlet Malls, and a variety of entertainment and restaurants in Branson, MO, are just a 90 minutes drive for a way to spend your day. Eureka Springs is less than 2 hrs for a day of adventure.
> A 2 hr. drive to Springfield, MO will take you to the world famous Bass Pro Shop, the Butterfly Palace, and the Wonders of Wildlife Museum as well as numerous restaurants and shopping malls.

Great Family Get-away

This lovely home was the ideal place for our family get-away weekend. There was plenty of space. Everything was well-kept, clean, and orderly. Marsha & Ken welcomed us our first night and were so informative of area amenities. It was quiet and relaxing. We had everything we needed and more. We loved our time there!

Spring fishing trip

Perfect place to stay its very close to any thing you would like to do from fishing hunting site seeing ! We would return again ! It's a beautiful place and Marsha and ken are great people they will make sure your stay is as comfortable as possible . And we had three trucks and 3 full size bass boats and their was still plenty of extra parking and a lot more room for more then 6 people , there was only six of us ! Thanks again !!

Wonderful Getaway - We'll Be Back!

We had a wonderful, relaxing vacation. The house was bright, spacious and impeccably clean. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen was better equipped than my own. We enjoyed relaxing on the huge deck, looking at the horses and donkeys (so cute!), and sitting around the fire in the evening. The area is beautiful - lots of outdoor activities to enjoy. We will definitely come again.

Fabulous Place to Stay
March 31, 2013
We absolutely loved this house and the owners!! It was much bigger than we expected. The beds and pillows were SO comfortable. As horse people ourselves, it was very relaxing to sit on the porch over looking the horses and donkeys ( who live attention). The house is well stocked with glasses, dishes and all other amenities. Food shopping is just minutes away. My daughter and I enjoyed our 2 mile country walks each morning thru the hills. We loved it so much---we are going to relocate from Illinois to Arkansas! I would highly recommend this property for your getaway!!!!

Best Family Rental in the Ozarks

When we planned our annual family fishing trip this year, we had no idea that there would be a foot of snow on the ground to greet us. However, we were surprized and thrilled at how nice the house was and its location. NO NEIGHBORS! We appreciated Marsha trudging thru the snow to greet us and make us feel welcome. The grandkids had room to play and the kids each had a bedroom for refuge. We had planned to stay there again next year, but after a family vote have decided to bump our trip in the fall and head right back to the ozarks and this house. Ken and Marsha are great folks and provide and excellent location for just kicking back letting life go by for awhile. We look forward to seeing y'all again in the fall. Scott & Alma Hays

The Ozark Getaway is a great property. The house is roomy and the six of us enjoyed the gathering areas as well as the seperate bedrooms. The kitchen was stocked with all the dishes, pots and pans and appliances we needed to prepare our Thanksgiving goodies. We also enjoyed the back deck for morning coffee and the fire pit for roasting marshmellows in the evening...and we can't forget the friendly donkeys.

My large family spent the weekend here. 6 adults and 3 children. There was plenty of space. Although we did not have the chance to cook, we noticed the kitchen was very well equipped. We were at an assembly all day both days so did not have time to really enjoy the property. We look forward to returning and relaxing on the deck, warming by the firepit, and more.

Great Getaway Experience!

What a great place! The Ozark Getaway was everything we hoped for in a relaxing fall holiday vacation. The kitchen was well equipped for cooking and eating. The backyard was so pleasing to view with horses and donkeys grazing in a picturesque pasture and the fireplace pit was perfect for enjoying the evening while snacking on s'mores. It was so pleasant we couldn't bring ourselves to even venture out to see the sights for two whole days. We figure we'll get to that the next visit! The most enjoyable stay

The Ozark Get-a-way was such an enjoyable place!!! We went there for our Fishing get-a-way with 3 other couples from all over, and let me tell you, we had so much room! The house was exceptionally clean, with just about every amenity that you could possibly want! There was room for our three trucks with boats, with more than enough room for 2 or 3 more! Ken and Marcia are so friendly, and laughed at us when we called to tell them that my husband had broke one of their lamps and won the "Oh Sh**" award! The Mules in the back were so awesome!! We fed them Carrots, and they laughed at us! The fishing was excellent, and the scenery is absolutely beautiful! I would highly recommened this vacation rental to anyone who is vacationing in the area.

Like a second home!

This was my group's second time staying at Ozark Getaway. We absolutely love it! The Getaway is so clean and peaceful. This time we remembered to bring carrots for the donkeys! We hosted a small baby shower for a friend while we were there, and Ken and Marsha were so helpful in making sure we had everything we needed. The Ozark Getaway is the perfect place to stay for a couple of people or an whole house full. It is a lot better than staying at a cramped hotel. There is a fire pit, downstairs TV room, games, movies, large kitchen, comfortable bedrooms, grill, deck and more. It's everything you could want. My group of six will be getting together next summer for a pontoon excursion, and we won't even look at anywhere else to stay. We will be booking the Ozark Getaway.

I have been here three times and love it everytime.The view is beautiful , with cute little donkeys in the back, which we named Kicker, Digger, Tigger, Sweety, & Billy Bob Joe Jr. The house has two levels, both levels have a living area. The downstairs has a full sectional that reclines. That was our spot! The outside area is great with a deck upstairs and a patio dowstairs, a fire pit with nice chairs, & and a covered carport. My friend, grandmother, and I stayed for a several days and loved it. We willl definitely come back again.

My family and I just completed out third visit to the Getaway, this time we stayed for two weeks. Each time we visit, the place just gets better and better! The new exterior siding, gutters, soffits and facial really improved the appearance of the exterior. The outdoor security light mounted on the storage building is a great convenience when returning after dark, and added to the sense of security at this peaceful and scenic spot. There is a new brick fire pit, and lots of available firewood--but due to the extreme drought, we were unable to try it out. We enjoyed the TV that was recently added to the master bedroom. Staying here is like staying in your own home--maybe better! Clean, all the comforts of home, and with incredibly attentive owners who quickly respond to any questions or concerns. Marsha even brought us lots of tasty veggies from her organic garden during our stay, what a treat! Ken was kind enough to set up an archery back stop adjacent to the storage building so that one of our daughters could hone her archery skills using her new compound bow. Did I mention the owners are incredibly accommodating? We've stay at the Getaway nearly 4 weeks over the past year, I can't imagine staying anywhere else for our vacation visits to the Twin Lakes area. During our most recent visit, we took a break from the water with a one day trip to Eureka Springs--very cool! Kind of like Key West, only a bit smaller, and with Victorian mansions. Lots of galleries, boutiques, spas, and shops of every kind; lots of history and neat architecture, too. If you're a X Files fan, you might want to check out the ghost tour at the historic Cresent Hotel. We also visited the National Fish Hatchery just below the Norfork Dam, about 30 minutes away from the house. Very interesting, about 2 million brown, rainbow, and cutthroat trout are raised there annually and released in the White River. By the way, if you like ribs and barbeque, consider giving KT's Smokehouse in Gassville a try--it's about 6 miles away from the house. For an awesome and very reasonable meal at a small diner, try D's Beacon Point in Bull Shoals. D's doesn't look like much, but the food (breakfast, lunch and dinner) is awesome, at bargain prices. We just left the Getaway, but my family is already planning our next visit. We will definitely return next summer! Thanks to Ken and Marsha for another awesome family vacation at the Getaway.....

I would stay there again! House was very comfortable, clean, and spacious. Two floors provided more than enough room for us. The donkeys in the back field are extremely friendly and cute. Owners of the house were very nice and easy to work with.

We really enjoyed our stay. Based on reviews that we read, we were expecting a nice place, but were really surprised by how well kept and clean the house was. The area is so quiet and peaceful. It is hard not to feel right at home. We just loved the country surroundings and yet it's just a short drive to town. The covered parking, just outside of the front door, is a great idea. The deck across the whole back of the house is a real plus. We had a great time, better than we would ever have at a hotel. The next time we are visiting Mountain Home, we would love to stay at the Ozark Getaway again.

an absolutely beautiful setting. Secluded yet only minutes from the Buffalo River, the White River, Bull Shoals and much more. The hosts were amazing. The house has everything you need and is way better than staying in a hotel. The natural setting was so peaceful and relaxing.

We had such a great time when our family got away at your Getaway! The house was perfect for all of us and the hospitality was great. The scenic views in the area are wonderful. We met with our daughter, grandson and wife for a time to get aquainted with our new granddaughter in-law. Walking into this house was like walking into a home. It has that atmosphere of welcome and feeling of everything is alright. There was not a thing we could think of that was not provided in the way of convenience or comfort. We just had to hang up our clothes and unpack the food! We were amazed at the how clean and well cared for the house and property were. We will definitely return if we get the chance. I must add that the owners were always on the look out to make special things happen for you like seeing the animals in the fields grazing, the donkeys loved to come visit at the fence line, wood for the fire pit, movies for that time of relaxation after you have toured the country all day, and I go could go on and on. The best way is for you to reserve a time for yourself and experience it all.

Epic trip to the Ozarks

My 5 buddies and I spend a week in the spring and one in the fall on motorcycles riding the Smokey Mountains. This year we wanted to try something different and found Motorcycle Nirvana in the Ozarks. Ken and Marsha's home was absolutely perfect for us. Wonderful hosts combined with excellent accomodations and amenities made for an epic trip. We really enjoyed the patio overlooking the woods and pasture after a long day on the road. Great place to wind down, drink a beer and watch the stars come out. We're already talking about /planning a return visit this fall. Thank you so much Ken and Marsha!

I have stayed at this property several times & it is always a wonderful experience. This time I had four teenagers in tow. They absolutely loved the downstairs. We enjoyed the deck for all our meals, it is beautiful! I also enjoyed the peaceful surroundings in the seating area out front while the kids ran to town. It is a wonderful house with different areas for any interest. And as always so clean and neat! Thanks Ken & Marsha for all the extras you did for us. Peyton so appreciated the talk with Ken about engineering. The kids had a blast! They are still talking about all the fun they had.

My husband and I celebrated our 10 year anniversary in the Ozark Getaway, and we loved it! Very "homey" touch with all the accomodations you would need. The best part of it was the downstairs, we called it -"Our Cave". We just kicked back and watched movies! Marsha and her husband are so very nice and hosipitable. We would reccommend it!

My husband and I have 5 kids between us and I was lucky to find Ozark Getaway! The house was beautiful, very well kept, and had everything that we needed. The hosts were by far the best I've experienced. The kids loved the downstairs and took it over as their 'lair'. My husband and I were able to spend time with our family upstairs while the kids played downstairs. I could not think of a better place to go to get away for awhile. The land was beautiful and the kids had a blast feeding the animals through the gate. I recommend this house to anyone traveling to that area.

Our family 4 sons and spouses vacationed at the Ozark Getaway in August 2011. The house was perfect, very roomy for a large family or group. The furniture and beds were all very comfortable and the open floor plan allowed 10 people to easily visit within one space whether 1st floor or lower level. We loved having 3 bathrooms which are all very large. The upstairs is open for gatherings and eating. We found the outside deck and covered patio which is accessible via master bedroom or dining area sliders an excellent place to relax and have coffee or meals. The lower level walkout is very light with nice windows and an open floor plan. The media area with sectional and built in recliners was a huge hit with the men! Gas grill is newer and large. Air conditioning excellent, was over 100 degrees during our entire stay and house was easily cooled with separate cooling units. Parking is amazing, plenty or room with easy access for any type vehicle and covered as well. The home has tons of windows providing outside light, is well kept, clean, easy to access from the highway and the setting is picture perfect, very peaceful. We have stayed at many rentals in the area even a top resort on the lake and found this home ranked 1st place. I would highly recommend this vacation home, you will not be disappointed!

Great location. The house was immaculate, very comfortable so much better than some of the resorts we've used in the past with their worn out cabins. Very nice having the extra space. We all enjoyed seeing the horses and donkeys (?) on the other side of the back fence, we fed them some carrots (with permission) and they really enjoyed it. We definitely look forward to going there again. The owners are great. Also even tho its not right on a lake its just a short drive to either Bull Shoals or Norfork. I also recommend the Bull Shoals Marina for boat rentals. Nice people and great service.

We spent our annual family vacation this year at Ozark Getaway and could not have picked a better place. There were 7 of us and the house was spacious enough for all of us and more. The house was extremely clean and beautiful. We loved eating out on the deck and cooking on the grill. We loved watching the horses in the pasture and got to pet the donkeys that came up to the fence. We had so much fun playing games on the big dining room table and just relaxing. There was 2 deer in the front yard one monring when we we got up. Marsha was the nicest person and made us feel right at home. We would highly recommend the Ozark Getaway to any family!!

Family from Nevada, Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas and Michigan gathered for a 65th wedding anniversary for my parents in Mountain Home. We found the vacation house to be perfect for our needs. We did have an infant and the house was pretty much set up for her. It had a pack and play and a high chair, as well as gates on the stairs. The house had lots of outside chairs for enjoying the scenic area. Several deer came into the yard and we enjoyed watching the horses in the pasture.

My family, seven adults and three children, spent Memorial Day weekend at the Ozark Getaway in Mountain Home, AR. We had a wonderful time! The vacation home was very clean, comfortable, and had plenty of room for our family to relax, dine, sleep, and just have a good time. The covered deck on the upper level was just great. We had other family members that live in Mountain Home over for a barbeque each evening, and there was plenty of room for everyone to be seated comfortably. We enjoyed sitting out on the deck in the morning watching the birds in the back yard and the horses in the field, and we enjoyed sitting out in the evening enjoying each others company. Marsha and Ken were very nice and really made us feel welcome. I felt that if there was anything that we needed they would have gone out of their way to provide it. I would highly recommend staying at the Ozark Getaway, and my family and I are hoping to plan another get together there in the near future.

We were SO VERY impressed with this house! It was SPOTLESS. There is plenty of room, and the view of the horses was a nice touch to help us enjoy our weekend getaway! Everything was perfect. This is one of the cleanest rentals we have ever had. Quiet, country setting within easy reach of Mountain Home, White River or Bull Shoals. Great for family get-togethers. Enough room to spread out and loved having laundry facilities right at our fingertips. Kitchen was large and perfect for cooking family meals. Two dining areas gave us enough room for everyone to eat. Just a perfect fit for our family. If we find ourselves back in the Mountain Home area, we will for sure stay at this vacation rental again. Owner are great people. Kind, helpful. Nothing bad to say about it. Don't hesitate...rent it and enjoy your vacation in comfort and style.

This place was clean and perfect for our family reunion. We had plenty of space for 6 adults, 3 children and a baby. We were able to cook and eat most of our meals using the cookware that was already there at the house. We loved the multiple common areas to visit, play games and watch tv. I visited about 7 other places in the area before booking this house. It was obvious that the other places took the pictures for the brochures in the 70's and 80's and have not updated the place since those pictures were taken. This was by far the best option of all of the places. There was no comparison. I can't stress enough how clean this place is.

I have to say that this was the cleanest, nicest place my family has stayed in the area. My family has been coming down to Bull Shoals lake and White River to fish and relax for 30 years. We are all neat freaks, therefore we always wonder how clean the place is going to be. With out a doubt I don't think you could find nicer! The home was big enough to spread out! The mornings drinking coffee on the deck watching the horses was great. Marsha and Ken came over to welcome us and make sure we had everything we needed. We would recommend staying here to everyone. Its a shame we couldn't have found it years ago. Guaruntee we will be back and enjoy it for many years to come! Thank you guys so much for the great memories and hospitality. P.S. Thanks again Marsha for saving us from the hotel room we were going to reserve! Had so much room to "get away" after being piled in the 4 man Jon Boat all day!!!!! We had a great time and really appreciated being so close to Bull Shoals Lake. Everything is really close, the house is spotless, well stocked with every little thing you need, and so very roomy and comfortable. We plan on bringing more relatives next year. We are three Co-workers that just needed a some down time. What a wonderful time! The house is exceptionally clean and well equiped. A great place to sit on the deck & vist, have a late night watching chic flicks or just unwind. Some of my family members traveled here from Texas to attend my little girls wedding over the weekend. The weddng was at Bull Shoals State Park, which is just minutes away. It could not have been a more perfect location for them. The spacious house was absolutely beautiful with all the conveniences of home. Where should I start? Marsha came by not long as my grandmother and I arrived. My parents arrived shortly after that in their RV. Marsha and Ken spent quite a bit of time calling around to campgrounds trying to help us locate a site for my parents RV. Marsha even went to a mobile home park to check it out for us! The house is beautiful! There are all the amenities of home. I love the huge deck and patio. It is very peaceful sitting on the deck, looking at the horses, and listening to the sounds of the country. The Citgo convenience/gas station is very close by and we were able to find last minute items there. My sons went to play basketball not too far away. My mom, brother and his family went fishing on Thursday...mom caught 10 fish! I took my grandson and granddaughter to the petting zoo, which was less than 2 miles from the house. We were able to pet a zebra, water buffalo, donkeys, horses, baby deer, and dogs. There is a bull there that has huge horns...each horn weighs 100 pounds! We didn't get to the riding stables until 1:00pm and they only have horseback riding in the morning because it was too hot for the horses. Grandkids enjoyed petting the horses. Loved the house and the hospitality of Marsha and Ken!

Bring your change of clothes and your toothbrush, that's all you need. The Gibson's are the loveliest couple. They will go beyond the call of duty to meet your every need. This home is just beautiful. The pieceful view from all windows is great. Waking up every morning to natures great sounds was wonderful. My children truly enjoyed seeing the horses grazing in the pasture everyday. There is a full size deck on the second floor for grilling and outdoor dining that is just fantastic. It is centrally located for easy access to everything you can think of. The site seeing is spectacular. The views from the Dam's are beautiful. Let talk food!! The Mexican restaurant down the road and the Brick Oven Pizza place in town is great (located in the Walmart shopping center). If you love BBQ, you have to try two spots. The mobile cart down the road from the Gibson's and Angler's Restaurant (WOW! what great food and WOW what a view). Take my advise. Look no further. This is the most perfect vacation home to come stay at. Why stay at a hotel when you can stay in the comfort of a home. Trust me you won't regret it!! P.S. Thanks Marsha for ALL of your help and for making small dreams come true!! The children ask that you please give a huge hug and kiss to Squa for them. We researched many properties in the area before deciding on this one and we were very happy with our choice. The house is enormous, tastefully decorated, and pristinely clean. There are beautiful views from both floors of the Gibson's horse farm. There is an enormous deck on the second floor and and patio on the first floor for grilling, enjoying the view, and down time during your stay, and a great movie-watching set-up on the lower floor where our whole group of 7 watched movies together. This house was centrally located for everything we came to enjoy - fishing and canoeing the White River, boating on Bull Shoals lake, and hiking. The Gibsons are a lovely couple and work hard to make sure you are taken care of and have what you need. If you have young children, there is a large yard for them to run in and a crib and high-chair are available as well. We highly recommend this property and hope to return for another vacation there!

The Linderman Gang had a wonderful time staying at the Ozark Getaway. It was very attactive and restful. Marsha and Ken were very helpful and friendly. If we had a need they tried to fill it. Myself and 12 other ladies spend the week-end at the getaway and had a marvellous time. The place has a very quiet and peaceful setting for just a quiet restful get away but it also has so many things that you can do within just a few miles. We will return and have already discussed having a couples outting and I want to take my daughters and their families and spend a day on one of the lakes.
