This is our 2nd year in this cabin. October is definately the most beautiful time of year in North Carolina. Lynn is great with the arrangements. Cabin is always clean, great view and friendly neighbors!! This year we were graced with "Diesel" the farmers terrier and my children loved him. Called for him every morning and evening. Great for mountain mornings sipping coffee and enjoying the peace and quiet, while Murphy offers great restaurants and family entertainment. Definately recommend Rib Country for barbeque 5-star. We actually plan that in our vacation. Spent a day in Cherokee and traveled to Franklin to mine for rubies- came home with over 25 carats. Played a little miniature golf and worked in some shopping too. Hope to be back in 2011!

My wife and I were making a weekend trip for a late celebration of our anniversary. We found the "Jewel in the Smokies" to be just what the dr. ordered. The property was nestled away about 8 miles out of Murphy, NC. It was only a short drive to some great shopping and dining. Shoebooties was our favorite haunt for food. Unbelieveable menu! We recommend the turkey, aspargus sandwich on the asiago french bread. None better! The chalet gave us a very private sense although there were other homes about 100 yards away through the trees. The placement of the homes made us feel alone and serene. The lodging itself was very new, very clean, comfortable and complete. We enjoyed all of the furnishings and the fireplace in the evening was wonderful. The sunrise came through the long windows in the front of the chalet to our second floor loft. The king size bed was amazing and the natural knotty pine gave the chalet a very warm appeal. The deck that wrapped around the chalet was the perfect spot for breakfast and multiple cups of hot coffee. Will we be returning?? You bet! Our plan is to make this a short-term respite several times a year. The area was delightful and the accomodations: perfect!
