Ocean Drive Beach is officially now part of North Myrtle Beach, SC. Ocean Drive is the main thoroughfare through North Myrtle Beach. The Drive is known for the origin of the popular 1960s dance, "the Shag".

Ocean Drive is often referred to by South Carolinians as the "OD", and brings throngs of tourists every year, notably at the beginning and end of season (April and September) for weeklong "Shagging" events.
