This moated wool merchant's house was moved from England to a Napa valley six acre hillside vineyard, 20 years ago.It is a playful and romantic historical home with two be\
[']?droom suits, both with fireplaces and one with a four poster bed.There are two additional semi-private sleeping areas (popular in the middle ages). Stunning features include four fire places, several secret passage ways, medieval style garden and hot tub, a large heated indoor tile bathtub for four with period style mural above, a 30' ceiling with the 500 year old timbers and crown post exposed and a gallery on two sides of the hall. With the 36 candle candelabra lit you can have a medieval feast served in the grand hall that you may never forget. The large kitchen has most moden appliances concealed behind period syle doors but the viking stove and grill are placed with the old fireplace alcove. The handmade reproduction medieval tile floors are radiate heated. The leaded glass windows, many with hand painted coat of arms, are about 200 years old. The house has once a week maid service and grounds keepers.

The house, (aka Toad Hall) is located in Napa county just at the edge of Napa town. It is secluded but not isolated. The knot garden and flower beds around the house are lovely, even in winter. The views from the house are all of open oak wooded hillsides. The Melbec grapes grown on this small estate are sold to local wineries. It is a perfect base for exploring not only the Napa and Sonoma wine county but for making day trips to the coast and to San Francisco which is only one hour away.
