Artist's Magical Home/Pool-Franklin/Leipers Fork
The above quote is the way I describe my handpainted decorative art furniture. Recently I realized that it perfectly describes my home as well. When I purchased the property, all who came to visit said it was meant for me.....truly an artist's magical home on a hilltop in the woods, complete with pool and tiki bar and a bomb for a weathervane.
I knew from the start that the property was so special that it was meant to be shared, which I've done with family and friends. Recently I decided to offer it to travelers or familiy and friends of people in our community of Leiper's Fork.
The drive up a long, often bumpy, gravel driveway in the shadow of the woods is an adventure in itself. The house is fairly simple from the front as it is built from a barn kit. Once inside the front door, the magic begins with a large handpainted armoire that looks like it was painted into the house. There are vaulted ceilings, posts and beams, light fixtures that look as though they are from a castle, a window seat with a zebra covered cushion, a stone fireplace with a 'fish' stone at its center, and antique wallpaper and tile in the kitchen.
Out the back door is more magic... a screened gazebo with the bomb weathervane, a curvy multi-level deck which ends with the pool and tiki bar. All this in a completely private setting in the woods. There are no curtains! There are trees to watch dance, birds to look at and use as alarm clocks, the hoot of owls, deer and turkey that roam freely.
As you can see, this is not your 'city' house even though it has all the conveniences and it's 5 minutes from a grocery and liquor store and 7 minutes to Franklin or Leiper's Fork. It's furnished with my personal belongings, including a sprinkling of handpainted furniture.
As guests, you'll have private use of the house....living room, dining room, kitchen, and half bath on the main floor; 2 bedrooms each with a double bed, and a full bath on the 2nd floor. There's a thrid bedroom/bath with 2 twin beds that might be available on special request. The deck and pool are yours as well. I reside in another structure on the property, but I may do some work in my studio/workshop which has it's own private access in the basement.
Bring your sense of humor and your sense of wonder. Visit Franklin for it's history and wonderful downtown stores; visit Leiper's Fork for the same thing. And there is WONDERFUL live music all around!
Photos show the house in various seasons.....always something to do OR just sit in a window seat and watch life in the woods!
Guests may request: use of phone line for computer or phone calls;use of washer-dryer in studio. Special requests are welcomed.
Fridge can be stocked with a few essentials of your preference or fully stocked as you request. If you are arriving or working late and would like a light meal or snack, please ask.
I look forward to having you visit Rocky Top!
Visit Leipers Fork, historic Franklin, or famous Music City-Nashville.
There is great food and GREAT GREAT music at Puckett's Grocery, both in Leiper's Fork and Franklin!!!! Now in Nashville, too!

We had guest come in from out of town and rented the house for them while they were in town. The house was perfect and even more than we expected. The only negative was that the well water had a odor.

I doubt thisreview will be allowed to show for this property, but I am writing it anyway... I didn't actually get to stay here, the owner doesn't allow kids?!?!? I am sorry, sometimes she will allow 1 child if she thinks it will "work out"... Seriously ??? 2 double beds and 2 twins... Who else sleeps in twin beds??? Frankly with the amount of rental property available these days, it is definitely her loss... Just don't let it be yours...

This is a wonderful property with so much charm . I will stay there again. However, be forewarned that the smell from the well water is quite overwhelming. I personally could not even take a shower during my stay. It seems the water in the kitchen was the worse. not sure why it was so terribly smelling. I've grown up with well water and never quite had this experience. The pool area and the decks are great for gatherings. I loved being surrounded by the trees.

It was a little bit hard to find when we arrived after dark, but we had a fantastic time. Suzanne was lovely and her home is beautiful. Just a quick drive to Nashville I would stay again. Beware the well water though, the sulphur smell was pretty strong.

You will love staying at this home! Secluded location, owner is very accommodating and it's an absolutely beautiful property. I stayed here for a weekend in October and wish I could have stayed for a month or more! Very spacious home and grounds. You will not be disappointed. We cooked at home each night, sat on the back porch in the evenings and enjoyed sitting out by the pool in the afternoons. Close to golf, shopping and restaurants if you are looking for activities away from the home. I will definitely stay here again next time I am in Tennessee.
