Blue skies and fresh air are what you notice first when you visit The Upper Penninsula of Michigan. Drive over the Macinac Bridge and you feel like you are driving into another world. Swim in some of the public beaches of Lake Michigan which you will pass as you take route 2 to our cabin. With pristine white sand and so much less crowds than the ocean fronts, we believe that these are some of the best beaches in the world. We also recommend the Gould City Beach. Every year my family enjoys an excursion to Lake Superior. Although the water is chilly, the beaches are even more spectacular than lake Michigan. A favorite destination is Ausable Falls in Grand Marais where we take the dune trail down a cliff of sand to the shore of lake Superior. My kids can't get enough climbing up and down this wall of sand while I walk the beach to the mouth of the Ausable river. The beach is covered with jewel like rocks and the water is bluer than any I have ever seen. We take the trail up river to the spectacular Ausable Falls where we climb the steps back to our car. Explore the entire National Lake Shore bt taking the newly paved road from Grand Marais to Munising. Castle Rock in Munising is also spectacular. With our central location in the Upper Penninsula, you will have easy driving distance for day trips at Macinac Island, Soo Locks, Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore, Seney National Wildlife Sanctuary, Tequamina Falls. Over the years my family have visited all of these beautiful, historical and interesting places and can recommend all of them to our guests. We are only 20 minutes from Garlyn Zoo and 30 minutes from Oswald's Bear Sanctuary. The Snow Mobile Museum in Naubinway is only 10 minutes from us. Enjoy dining at many local establishments, golf, hiking, ATV trails. There is a great fresh fish market in Naubinway. Casinos in Munising, Saulte Ste Marie, and St.Ignace. Hunting in season in designated areas.

Reviews for this vacation cabin rental in Naubinway, Michigan

Great place to get away from it all, we relaxed and fished to our hearts content. The weather didn't cooperate at times for fishing so the extensive collection of movies helped pass the time. Everything you need for a upnorth adventure is in the cabin . Thank You Bev, you're a wonderful person to work with. George

very accomadating. beverly is very easy to work with. many, many extras located at cabin to help enjoy fishing, boating and kayaking. engadine is only a few miles away and has everything you need-gas, groceries, bar/diner, ice cream. the cabin is located in a very private location and access to the lake is easy. however, the cabin has only one bedroom with a door and our two yr old grandson needed quietness to be able to fall asleep early and that limited our evenings. also, bedding and quilts should be refreshed.
Thanks for the review. We asks guests to provide own bedding, because we have no washing machine and are there only twice yearly to change bedding. The cleaning lady makes beds but cannot change sheets weekly. Our 2 bedrooms upstairs are only semiprivate in a loft which opens to our great room. I want people to know what to expect when they rent our cabin

Great place, great memories
August 18, 2014
Our week spent at the Fisherman’s Family Hideaway is full of great memories. First and foremost, Beverly and her family were warm and gracious in their communications with us, as well as very accommodating--which we appreciate since this trip brought us back to our childhood summers spent on Lake Millecoquin. The cabin really is a hideaway: no direct neighbors and hidden among the trees and reeds--but with a great view of the lake from the front lawn nonetheless. The cabin itself is very cozy and comfortable, and it seemed actually bigger than it appears in the photos to us. There is ample couch space for everyone to relax and the dining table can seat at least eight. It has almost everything you could need for cooking inside or out. We rented a pontoon boat through a local (Dave Kosar, owner of D&D and Stars and Sand), and we were able to tie it right to the cabin’s dock. We kayaked on, fished in, and motored around the lake every day. We also enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings, and even in the chilly mornings. A truly great experience! Thanks again to the McNeeley family!

Enjoyed a stay at this cabin in mid October. We fished and had good success, a little on the small size for northern pike but beautiful lake. The cabin was as described and felt very much like a UP cabin should. I like that it was only about 50 minutes past the Big Mac. Beverly dealt with my son on the rental and was very accommodating.
Cabin on Lake Millecoquin, Sept. 2013

We arrived Sunday afternoon, unloaded our things and settled in at the cabin. It was so nice to have the Propain Heat on as it was chilly. We fished, my husband went Duck hunting, he even used one of the Kayacks at the cabin. He really enjoyed that. We watched a lot of movies at night and had the fireplace going in the evenings. The ombianace was so nice. The upstairs was so much warmer come morning so I slept up there. Very cozy. We enjoyed it very much.

The trip and vacation was awesome, very relaxing and fun. The cabin was very nice and more than we thought it would be nice and cozy it had everything we needed. The fishing was great, kayaking was so much fun, the stars were beautiful at night and there was so much to do and see. We surely want to go back soon and stay at this cabin again it was so peaceful and quiet really a nice place to stay the cabin was beautiful inside very comfortable we didn't want to leave or come home. It had everything you could ask for in a nice place to stay and the view of the lake was exciting right out the picture window with no neighbors in site and the woods all around. Thanks Beverly for the nice time we had at your cabin looking forward to coming back again soon. We caught lots of fish and saw lots of wild life too.

Nise cabin very relaxing grandson loved it.The people that you talk to are very nice and helpful. When you wake up in the mourning there may be deer looking in.Fishing was ok nice size bass and pike grandson caught some of the largest bluegil and sun fish that i have seen. On the downside; Lake has a lot of weeds and not very deep. When you rent the outboards it would have been nice it they were installed on boats,(I just had shoulder replaced)Two kids at the boat ramp helped to install them. Over all I think We would go back and stay next year,if we have time!!!!!

Frequently Asked Questions
Come if you are not addicted to technology. Our cell phones work very slowly up here. Also we have not bothered to establish internet or satellite TV service. Our family gets enough of that at home and we enjoy getting off the grid once or twice a year. We have a great old fashioned stereo set up to hear the local news and pretty music. We have a VCR and DVD player with hundreds of our family's favorite old movies.
Come if you like wildlife. Our cabin sits in a wooded location in a wet land area of Lake Millecoquin. We are surrounded by wildlife. Our family enjoys the encounters that we have with animals and consider them part of the adventure.
Come if you're self sufficient. There is a lot at our cabin for you to do, but we are not there to do it for you. You are welcome to use whatever we have to create your own adventures. We do not have a dish washer or washer and dryer at this time. Who needs a dish washer when you have kids and paper plates? We know to bring enough clothes and bedding for the week, but are capable of hand washing a few socks and towels to hang on the line. It makes us feel like pioneers. There is a Laundromat to use in Newberry for emergencies.
We are 100 times more comfortable than camping, but we offer no guarantees against mice or bugs.
