Fisherman's Family Hideaway

Relax and get away from it all while enjoying our clean, comfortable, secluded, lake front cabin on Lake Millecoquin 3 miles north of Lake Michigan in the Upper Penninsula. It is our family's home away from home. Perfect for 8 friends or family group. Lake access with110 ft. dock on property. Feed and cast for blue gill visible off dock. Locals claim that the best fishing site in the lake is within rowing distance from our cabin, or rent our motors for a longer excursion to the mouths of the Upper and Lower Millecoquin River. Northern pike, large mouth bass, small mouth bass, yellow perch, black bullhead and many other species present in lake. 2 rowboats available for your use. We have plenty of life jackets. Motors available for additional fee. Bring your own motor or launch your boat at the public boat access located just outside the property. 2 kayaks available. Kayak through fields of water lillies and water hyacynths.You can explore the Upper and Lower Millecoquin Rivers seeing many species of water foul and other wildlife. Private bird sanctuary located North of cabin. See a pair of bald eagles which nest near the mouth of the Upper Millecoquin River. Kayak to our favorite sandy bottomed swimming hole located South of the cabin. Borrow our old bikes, or bring your own, going down secluded lane and past many local farms in the neighborhood. Our kids like to bike to Engadine,(1 mile) for icecream. You may pass some Amish buggies. We have several Amish neighbors. Check out the Amish Quilt Shop located down the road. Enjoy beautiful fall colors. View local wildlife including deer, fox, otters,and painted turtles. My kids catch frogs from our dock using the fishing nets in our garage. Roast marshmallows or grill using our outside fire ring and gas grill. Wood and propane included. Back yard provides ample space to set up soccer or volleyball nets. We keep ours in the garage if you feel like borrowing them.
Inside the cabin we try to provide for your comfort. Simple rustic decor throughout. Have a fish fry or cook gourmet meals in our fully equipped kitchen. Up to 8 sleep in comfort in 3 bedrooms with 2 full sized beds, 1 bunk bed and 2 cots. 2 bedrooms in upstairs loft. 1 bedroom with cot downstairs. Bring your own bedding or sleeping bags and enough clothing for your stay. There is no washer or dryer available at this time. 2 full sized sofas and love seat. Fans in every room. Small air conditioner in lower bedroom. Propane heat and large fire place for cool weather. Large dining table, great for games. We have plenty of games for you to use. Bathroom with shower. Antenna TV with VCR/DVD. TV reception is not good but enjoy 100+ movies for the whole family from our collection. Pets are welcome for additional fee.

Take I-75 across the Macinac Bridge and drive 50 miles west on scenic Rt 2. In Naubinway turn right on Naubinway Rd, left on Hiawatha Trail, right on Indian Trail, and right on Lake Road. Entrance to property located at the Lake Millecoquin Boat Access Site. Turn right on gravel lane. Go past one other cabin. We are located at the end of lane. Three miles north of Naubinway, Michigan. One mile east of Engadine, Michigan and 20 miles south of Newberry, Michigan.

Blue skies and fresh air are what you notice first when you visit The Upper Penninsula of Michigan. Drive over the Macinac Bridge and you feel like you are driving into another world. Swim in some of the public beaches of Lake Michigan which you will pass as you take route 2 to our cabin. With pristine white sand and so much less crowds than the ocean fronts, we believe that these are some of the best beaches in the world. We also recommend the Gould City Beach. Every year my family enjoys an excursion to Lake Superior. Although the water is chilly, the beaches are even more spectacular than lake Michigan. A favorite destination is Ausable Falls in Grand Marais where we take the dune trail down a cliff of sand to the shore of lake Superior. My kids can't get enough climbing up and down this wall of sand while I walk the beach to the mouth of the Ausable river. The beach is covered with jewel like rocks and the water is bluer than any I have ever seen. We take the trail up river to the spectacular Ausable Falls where we climb the steps back to our car. Castle Rock in Munising is also spectacular. With our central location in the Upper Penninsula, you will have easy driving distance for day trips at Macinac Island, Soo Locks, Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore, Seney National Wildlife Sanctuary, Tequamina Falls. Over the years my family have visited all of these beautiful, historical and interesting places and can recommend all of them to our guests. Enjoy dining at many local establishments, golf, hiking, ATV trails. Casinos in Munising, Saulte Ste Marie, and St.Ignace. Hunting in season in designated areas.
