Motors available for additional fee. Bring your own motor or launch your boat at the public boat access located just outside the property. A house boat from D&D Grocery store in Engadine can be rented for an entire day of water fun on Lake Millecoquin. 2 kayaks available. Kayak through fields of water lillies and water hyacinths. You can explore the Upper and Lower Millecoquin Rivers seeing many species of water foul and other wildlife. Private bird sanctuary located north of cabin which attracts loons and other species. See a pair of bald eagles which nest near the mouth of the Upper Millecoquin River or the Trumpeter swans which nest near the lower river. Kayak to our favorite sandy bottomed swimming hole located 100 feet south of the cabin. Borrow our old bikes, or bring your own, going down secluded lane and past many local farms in the neighborhood. Our kids like to bike to Engadine,(2miles) for ice cream. You may pass some Amish buggies. We have several Amish neighbors. Check out the Amish Quilt Shop located down the road or Saturday bake sales. Enjoy beautiful fall colors. View local wildlife including deer, fox, otters, and painted turtles. My kids catch frogs and turtles from our dock using the fishing nets in our garage. Roast marshmallows or grill using our outside fire ring and charcoal grill. Wood included. Back yard provides ample space to set up soccer or volleyball nets. Area Information
Take I-75 across the Macinac Bridge and drive 50 miles west on scenic Rt 2. In Naubinway turn right on Naubinway Rd, left on Hiawatha Trail, right on Indian Trail, and right on Lake Road. Entrance to property located at the Lake Millecoquin Boat Access Site. Turn right on gravel lane. Go past one other cabin. We are located at the end of lane. Three miles north of Naubinway, Michigan. One mile east of Engadine, Michigan and 20 miles south of Newberry, Michigan.

Blue skies and fresh air are what you notice first when you visit The Upper Penninsula of Michigan. Drive over the Macinac Bridge and you feel like you are driving into another world. Swim in some of the public beaches of Lake Michigan which you will pass as you take route 2 to our cabin. With pristine white sand and so much less crowds than the ocean fronts, we believe that these are some of the best beaches in the world. We also recommend the Gould City Beach. Every year my family enjoys an excursion to Lake Superior. Although the water is chilly, the beaches are even more spectacular than lake Michigan. A favorite destination is Ausable Falls in Grand Marais where we take the dune trail down a cliff of sand to the shore of lake Superior. My kids can't get enough climbing up and down this wall of sand while I walk the beach to the mouth of the Ausable river. The beach is covered with jewel like rocks and the water is bluer than any I have ever seen. We take the trail up river to the spectacular Ausable Falls where we climb the steps back to our car. Explore the entire National Lake Shore bt taking the newly paved road from Grand Marais to Munising. Castle Rock in Munising is also spectacular. With our central location in the Upper Penninsula, you will have easy driving distance for day trips at Macinac Island, Soo Locks, Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore, Seney National Wildlife Sanctuary, Tequamina Falls. Over the years my family have visited all of these beautiful, historical and interesting places and can recommend all of them to our guests. We are only 20 minutes from Garlyn Zoo and 30 minutes from Oswald's Bear Sanctuary. The Snow Mobile Museum in Naubinway is only 10 minutes from us. Enjoy dining at many local establishments, golf, hiking, ATV trails. There is a great fresh fish market in Naubinway. Casinos in Munising, Saulte Ste Marie, and St.Ignace. Hunting in season in designated areas.

Lakeside Gem

Great place to get away from it all, we relaxed and fished to our hearts content. The weather didn't cooperate at times for fishing so the extensive collection of movies helped pass the time. Everything you need for a upnorth adventure is in the cabin . Thank You Bev, you're a wonderful person to work with. George

fisherman's cabin

very accomadating. beverly is very easy to work with. many, many extras located at cabin to help enjoy fishing, boating and kayaking. engadine is only a few miles away and has everything you need-gas, groceries, bar/diner, ice cream. the cabin is located in a very private location and access to the lake is easy. however, the cabin has only one bedroom with a door and our two yr old grandson needed quietness to be able to fall asleep early and that limited our evenings. also, bedding and quilts should be refreshed.

Beverly McNeeley

Owner's reply:

Thanks for the review. We asks guests to provide own bedding, because we have no washing machine and are there only twice yearly to change bedding. The cleaning lady makes beds but cannot change sheets weekly. Our 2 bedrooms upstairs are only semiprivate in a loft which opens to our great room. I want people to know what to expect when they rent our cabin

We all had a great time... The cabin was cozy. Fishing was great and everyone enjoyed some nice fish dinners. Lots of mosquitos when we were there so bring repellent. Deer came right up to the cabin and the loons sang songs...

Thanks Greg.

Great place, great memories

Our week spent at the Fisherman’s Family Hideaway is full of great memories. First and foremost, Beverly and her family were warm and gracious in their communications with us, as well as very accommodating--which we appreciate since this trip brought us back to our childhood summers spent on Lake Millecoquin. The cabin really is a hideaway: no direct neighbors and hidden among the trees and reeds--but with a great view of the lake from the front lawn nonetheless. The cabin itself is very cozy and comfortable, and it seemed actually bigger than it appears in the photos to us. There is ample couch space for everyone to relax and the dining table can seat at least eight. It has almost everything you could need for cooking inside or out. We rented a pontoon boat through a local (Dave Kosar, owner of D&D and Stars and Sand), and we were able to tie it right to the cabin’s dock. We kayaked on, fished in, and motored around the lake every day. We also enjoyed the fire pit in the evenings, and even in the chilly mornings. A truly great experience! Thanks again to the McNeeley family!

Great Get Away

Enjoyed a stay at this cabin in mid October. We fished and had good success, a little on the small size for northern pike but beautiful lake. The cabin was as described and felt very much like a UP cabin should. I like that it was only about 50 minutes past the Big Mac. Beverly dealt with my son on the rental and was very accommodating.

Cabin on Lake Millecoquin, Sept. 2013

We arrived Sunday afternoon, unloaded our things and settled in at the cabin. It was so nice to have the Propain Heat on as it was chilly. We fished, my husband went Duck hunting, he even used one of the Kayacks at the cabin. He really enjoyed that. We watched a lot of movies at night and had the fireplace going in the evenings. The ombianace was so nice. The upstairs was so much warmer come morning so I slept up there. Very cozy. We enjoyed it very much.

Lake Millecoquin Fisherman's Family Hideaway

The trip and vacation was awesome, very relaxing and fun. The cabin was very nice and more than we thought it would be nice and cozy it had everything we needed. The fishing was great, kayaking was so much fun, the stars were beautiful at night and there was so much to do and see. We surely want to go back soon and stay at this cabin again it was so peaceful and quiet really a nice place to stay the cabin was beautiful inside very comfortable we didn't want to leave or come home. It had everything you could ask for in a nice place to stay and the view of the lake was exciting right out the picture window with no neighbors in site and the woods all around. Thanks Beverly for the nice time we had at your cabin looking forward to coming back again soon. We caught lots of fish and saw lots of wild life too.

Girl Scout weekend

My middle school Girl Scout troop recently stayed at the cabin. We had a great time! There were 8 of us that went and there was plenty of room. The owner gave us great information about the cabin and local attractions. The girls loved relaxing and playing games and were sad to leave.

Nise cabin very relaxing grandson loved it.The people that you talk to are very nice and helpful. When you wake up in the mourning there may be deer looking in.Fishing was ok nice size bass and pike grandson caught some of the largest bluegil and sun fish that i have seen. On the downside; Lake has a lot of weeds and not very deep. When you rent the outboards it would have been nice it they were installed on boats,(I just had shoulder replaced)Two kids at the boat ramp helped to install them. Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What are the most fun things to do at your vacation rental?
A: Great fishing, kayaking, boating. Observe local wildlife from our back porch or kayak Lake Millecoquin and its tributaries. My kids learned to swim in a sandy bottomed swimming hole located in front of the cabin where we kayak. Kick up your feet and relax with a good book. Watch an old movie. Take a walk down our secluded lane. We love family game night or relaxing around our fire ring. Enjoy a starry, starry night, or experience the sound of silence or perhaps a chorus of bullfrogs. In cooler weather you can enjoy our indoor fireplace. There is plenty of room to set up yard games or take target practice. Meet our Amish neighbors who frequently have bake sales and sell quilts down the street.
Q: What makes your vacation rental special?
A: Our secluded location allows you and your family to truly get away from it all. Our cottage is a great place to reconnect with family and friends. If you are the person who prefers to avoid traffic, long lines, and big crowds, then our vacation rental is the perfect spot for you, yet we are only minutes from Route 2 and all of the amenities that you will need.
Q: What's the coolest nearby activity?
A: We are centrally located among all of the wonderful attractions of the UP of Michigan. Macinac Island, Tequamina Falls, Soo Locks, Seney Wildlife Preserve are all about an hour drive. Pictured Rock National Lake Shore is our family favorite destination. The drive to our cabin is cool. Cross the Maccinac Bridge to Rt. 2 past miles of pristine beaches of Lake Michigan. We are only 10 minutes from Lake Michigan beaches.
Q: Who should come?
A: We want all of our renters to enjoy our place as much as we do. We want you to know exactly what to expect before you rent with us..
Come if you are not addicted to technology. Our cell phones work very slowly up here. Also we have not bothered to establish internet or satellite TV service. Our family gets enough of that at home and we enjoy getting off the grid once or twice a year. We have a great old fashioned stereo set up to hear the local news and pretty music. We have a VCR and DVD player with hundreds of our family's favorite old movies.
Come if you like wildlife. Our cabin sits in a wooded location in a wet land area of Lake Millecoquin. We are surrounded by wildlife. Our family enjoys the encounters that we have with animals and consider them part of the adventure.
Come if you're self sufficient. There is a lot at our cabin for you to do, but we are not there to do it for you. You are welcome to use whatever we have to create your own adventures. We do not have a dish washer or washer and dryer at this time. Who needs a dish washer when you have kids and paper plates? We know to bring enough clothes and bedding for the week, but are capable of hand washing a few socks and towels to hang on the line. It makes us feel like pioneers. There is a Laundromat to use in Newberry for emergencies.
Q: Are there mice or bugs at your cabin?
A: We never want our guests to have a disappointing experience and try our best to be honest and prepare you for the best experience possible. About your inquiry about mice and bugs, we do our best to keep the place sealed against mice and bugs with good screens and yearly calking, but we are located on a wooded lake front lot, and a lot depends on the weather. When the weather gets colder, mice can find a way inside. There are usually few bugs inside, but what come in with us from the front door and occasional spiders.. Outside there are usually few deer flies or mosquitoes during the day, but they can get bad at dusk especially when the air is still. A nice breeze usually blows them away. They don't usually bother us around a camp fire. We are not overrun with mice or bugs, and many weeks we see none, but they can be present and some weeks can be worse than others. Our family always brings bug spray just in case. We keep fly swatters and mouse traps handy. We understand it to be part of the outdoor experience that our family enjoys.
We are 100 times more comfortable than camping, but we offer no guarantees against mice or bugs.
Q: When is your check in time?
A: We book our cabin Friday 6 PM -Friday 11 AM during peek season June, July and August. Our cleaning lady makes the cabin available for new guests on Fridays between 11 AM-6 PM.
