Experience all of wonderful New Orleans while staying in one of the oldest Creole Cottages in the city. This home was built circa. 1808 and has some of the finest examples of architecture and details fashionable in the late 1700’s and early 1800’s. You will be staying one short block from the French Quarter and one block from Bourbon Street. Our cottages are luxuriously furnished and elegantly decorated, most having antiques from the mid to late 1800’s.

For larger parties rent the entire complex of 3 buildings 1
House with 3 bedrooms & 5 Apartments will accommodate up to 23 guests. The main house includes a sumptuous living room with hardwood floors and a ceiling fan, a fully-equipped huge kitchen with all modern conveniences, pass-through bar seating to dining room, which has a fireplace original to the house, a courtyard and covered sitting area.

We are located in a quiet neighborhood only 1 block form the French Quarter and 1 block from Bourbon St.
THE HISTORY OF THIS AMAZING HOME

This elegantly decorated Creole Cottage built, “of columbage and bricked between post” circa. 1808, is one of the rarest examples of early Creole cottage architecture remaining to date. This home is in the first subdivision of New Orleans named Faubourg Marigny. The plantation was subdivided in March 16 1806. This home retains almost all of its original architectural features including; its rare Ram’s horn hinges and original latches on the French glass doors. There are also very outstanding long latches which were used to open and close the doors. The ceilings are original and are “dressed and beaded” which are rare to find intact to day. The mantels are the most distinguishing interior elements in Creole domestic architecture. Two of the mantels are box mantels in the style dating from the late 1700’s to 1810 with columns supporting a frieze having strong horizontal moldings. The floors are beautiful large plank and the original moldings are intact. This property was sold to one of the first women of color to purchase property in the United States. Madame Magdalene Baure’ purchased three lots which now form the sites of 1426 and 1434 Burgundy and of 928, 930 and 934 Kerlerec. This property now has 4 other cottages, two of which were believed to be very early barge board cottages from the early 1800’s most likely moved here at a later date. There is also a servant’s quarter at the back which is possibly one of the early buildings on the property. The main house and other cottages all have the conveniences of the modern home. This property is now a very quaint and lovely Guest House. Experience the amazing architecture very few ever get to see in an elegantly decorated home constructed 200 years age.

Perfect location!

We came here on a bachelor party with 10 people. It is literally the perfect location. The walk to the Opposite side of the French quarter is only 15 minutes. Cross the street and you're on bourbon street in three minutes. Great food around there too. Everybody loved the place. What we loved the most was the front deck and the back patio. The front office made it very easy and had great recommendations. The house is slightly old but that didn't effect our weekend at all

Great spot to stay when visiting NOLA!

We came in Thursday afternoon for a girls weekend! Larry was super easy to work with leading up to the trip! The house was so close to Frenchman street. We were able to walk to dinner at Melange and then hit up DBA for drinks. Friday and Saturday we were able to walk to Bourbon in about 10 minutes. Saturday we cooked in and Larry's son was very helpful with figuring out how to work the stove :) It was so much better to all be in a house rather than separate hotel rooms! We didn't have to bring anything but groceries- linens and cookware were all provided! Would definitely recommend and hope to visit again soon!

Great Location and very comfortable

We went to New Orleans for the 2013 Rock n' Roll Mararthon my daughter ran in. She had recently been in N.O. for Mardi Gras and kept talking about "some purple drink" come to find out we were staying almost right across the street from the little tavern she got it out:) So that made her very happy. As far as our rental, it was great! We love staying in places that have that Ol' French Quarter "FEEL" but clean!!!! And this was BOTH:) In the same block but on the corner is CLOVER's GRILL, I thought that Kyrstals was crazy busy late night, but CLOVERS was more! Great Burgers!!! Also, you may want to try Camiella's for breakfast, within walking distance, just ask anyone local where it is. Mr. Peanut will make your visit very entertaining while eating. I loved our place we stayed at, like I mentioned, it was clean and much space. Annette, his house manager was more than a sweetheart from the moment we meant her!!!Ohhhhh, sitting on the front balcony was the perfect spot I momma enjoyed to people watch:) We found a treasure and will be back.

The unit was everything it said it was and much more. With two teenage girls, my husband and my mother we all had enough room to have our own space. The unit came with everything needed, you do not need to bring supplies to wash your clothes or anything. The hot tub on the roof was great for watching the sunset over the city and listening to the sounds of New Orleans at night (we were there for the Running of the Bulls). Be sure to get a good map of the city to not rely on GPS to get you around because no matter what it took us across the river to get to the aquarium that was at the end of the street about six blocks away.

Location is everything

We stayed in the cottage unit and loved the location, right off Bourbon Street. Delightful courtyard and our friends stayed in one of the other units so we had privacy but were close together. Downside -- noise! The Blacksmith Shop bar adjoins the kitchen wall and we heard the music until 2 a.m. Great for nightowls but not good for those who want to retire earlier. Kitchen and furniture were outdated but adequate. Parking was also an issue as there is only one "resident parking pass". Two hour parking is enforced and we got towed for not moving our car on a street cleaning day -- $125. ticket and having to pick up car at the pound. Ouch! Good value for the money, however, and location can not be beat.
