Write a review We had a great time. Heidi is very welcoming and helpful. She is there when you need her for input about the area, but ensures you have enough privacy to relax and unwind. She was very welcoming to our family (2 year old son and 2 small dogs). They had a great time running around the yard and playing in the leaves. Although the October weather was touch and go there for awhile---everything worked out just fine. The cottage is a great place to relax and unwind...and get away from the everyday "chores" at home----yet still feel like your at home..... We're hoping to return next year! Thanks for everything Heidi!! Loved it!! Actually, smitten with my girlfriend in Long Island. I wanted a quiet, quaint retreat for two ( + wee 'lil Pug dog ) where I could meet Laura in the "middle of the road". This cottage exceeded expectations. This was our first Groundhog Day celebration together which we truly enjoyed despite our stuffed animal 'chuck, named Carl, (after Bill Murray's devout role in Caddyshack )seeing his shadow next to the cottage. Great base cottage for exploring the 'Gunks, gum-shoeing New Platz's shops and then lounging around afterwards. Just terrific. A beautiful little find right outside New Paltz, with all of the comforts needed for an experience to explore this great area. Heidi is a warm and gracious host, with a cool eye for design, too! Thank you! We had a great stay. Nice comfy bed with soft sheets - great after a day of hiking or biking. And our dog felt right at home. Very bohemian, artsy feel to the place -fits in with the New Paltz "vibe" -a nice retreat. Heidi and Lou are very welcoming hosts. A little small but just fine for 2 and a dog. Love the hand made soap! Firstly this cottage is super dog friendly, and when owning a german sheperd who is a litlle rambunctious, that is super important! Heidi, who lives in the main house is delightful and very informative and helpful if you need. I liked that the cottage was a little off the beaten track and that you felt kinda isolated without the isolation! Not super fancy or anything so if you want a hotel environment then its definitely not the place. Loved it! This cottage has all the amenities and this amazingly artistic decor - the kind that just warmly invites you to "come in, relax, enjoy!" I needed a getaway to do my work and have some fun, be in nature, enjoy nearby towns and relax. THis is perfect. Heidi is a thoughtful host, helping out when needed, careful of your privacy when not. A great place to stay, and come away feeling completely renewed and refreshed! My husband and I have been visiting New Paltz for many, many years always staying at the Super 8, considering it is the only decent hotel in town. I wish we would have found this cottage sooner. We have children now and the cottage truly is the perfect place for a family or even just a couple. It is spacious and you truly feel at home. Heidi, the owner was more than accomodating, even bringing us the paper Sunday morning. The cottage is in a great location, right in the center of all New Paltz has to offer. The cottage is nestled in "the forest" as my 4yr. old son liked to call it, which was beautiful with fall foliage . Can't wait to visit again! Oh and forgot to mention cheaper than the area hotel rates in the fall! My family went here for a long weekend in October and it was just the perfect lil cottage for us to unwind and just be with each other to relax. We had a brand new baby and my four year old daughter who still talks about the "cottage"..the amenities were perfect and there is something for everyone to be enchanted with New Paltz. My husband still talks about how soft the sheets were and it inspired us to build a cute garden in our back yard!The small touches of artistic decorations really made the stay special and one we will remember. Our weather was a bit iffy in October, colder than expected but we still enjoyed the weekend and the owner is very helpful she gave us great ideas of what to see and where to go in town with children. It is a place we will definitely return.
