"Must see" Historic sites:

Turtle Mound: For over 10,000 years Indians populated our area. This 50-foot-high shell mound was "built" by Indians centuries before Columbus. It is located in the National Seashore Park at the end of South Atlantic Ave. (US A1A). Modest adminnion charge.

Old Fort Park: This mysterious coquina foundation was reworked in 1805, but who built it? While you ponder, visit the Connor Library Museum, also located in the park at Washington Street and North Riverside Drive. Free admission to both attractions.

Sugar Mill Ruins: Sugar was big business until the Indians burned New Smyrna and the mill in 1835. Was this scenic structure recyled from an earlier Spanish era? Free admission. Located at Mission Drive and SR 44 (K-Mart). Bring your camera and lunch basket.

Ponce Inlet Lighthouse: Second tallest on the east coast, this 175' brick lighthouse went into service in 1887. Climb to the top for a spectacular view! Go north on US #1 to Dunlawton Blvd. in Port Orange, east to A1A and then south to the inlet. Modest admission charge.

We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Condo was very nicely outfitted with everything that was required to make our stay so comfortable. Park and ocean right across the street was so comfortable for walks on beach, bike rides, etc. Condo association very friendly, some wonderful folks and lots of activities to keep busy. Thanks Marie. If you're looking to stay somewhere away from all the tourist attractions while at the beach, then this is the place for you!!! The location is GREAT and walking across the street to the beach is ideal as well as having a convenience store located next door. There is no hassle in finding a place to park and easy out and in from the street. The owner is very friendly and will help you in any way that she can.
