Description of the Northside vacation villa rental

After two years of construction, the spectacular new Cannon Cliffs Villa is now available for your next escape to paradise. Cannon Cliffs is located on the tranquil North Side of St. Thomas on Peterborg Peninsula. Although the area is a simple twenty minute drive from Cyril King Airport, it seems worlds away from the hustle and bustle of Charlotte Amalie. Specifically, Cannon Cliffs is in Peterborg East, where awesome vistas are around every bend. The area is secure, and the congenial residents often meet on strolls through the lush tropical foliage. Magens Bay Beach is but a five minute drive away as is the famous Mahogany Run Golf Course.

The Villa itself is perched on the edge of a rocky cliff which affords mesmerizing views of the ever-changing waters of the Atlantic Ocean. From the moment you pass through the gate, you will be delighted by the profusion of flowers in the lush landscaping. A graceful travertine walkway curves from the parking area to a lovely stone entryway. Throw open the magnificent mahogany doors and step into the arched foyer. Immediately your eyes will be drawn to the pool deck. Water from the custom stone spa spills into the slate tiled pool and seems to flow over the infinity edge to the sparkling ocean below.

To your left are the kitchen and great room. Large iron orb chandeliers highlight the rustic dining table which is capable of seating ten comfortably. With custom mahogany cabinets, granite countertops and stainless steel appliances--including a five burner gas range--the gourmet kitchen has every amenity a chef could desire. Just outside the kitchen door is the grill porch. Sear steaks to perfection on the hybrid grill that uses gas, charcoal or wood. There is also a recessed burner that can accommodate a pot large enough for the heartiest of shrimp boils.

Back inside, the air conditioned great room boasts two plush sofas and chairs, perfect for reading or just gazing at the view. A mahogany and granite wet bar is equipped with a beverage refrigerator and an ice maker capable of producing forty pounds of crystal clear ice per day. There is also a Margaritaville blender for all of your frozen concoctions.

Beyond the great room is the first of four master suites. Although all four suites are similar, special touches make these spaces private and unique. The bathroom in the first suite includes an indoor and outdoor shower as does the bathroom in suite three. The bathroom in suite two has a bay window for taking in the ocean view, while the bathroom in suite four boasts a charming claw foot tub. All suites include four poster king beds with Ethan Allen mattresses and luxurious six hundred thread count linens. Although you may relish falling asleep to the sound of waves crashing on the rocks below, each bedroom suite is equipped with individually controlled air conditioning, should you prefer. Of course each suite has its own porch for enjoying the ocean views.

To the right of the entryway are suite two, a powder room and the media room. When the sun sets at Cannon Cliffs, the fun need not stop. The entire Villa has WiFi, a Sonos sound system and satellite TV. The cozy media room has state of the art electronics, a fifty inch flat screen TV and a large selection of BluRay DVDs. The back wall of the media room is lined with shelves that are filled with books, both fiction and non-fiction. For the history buff, there are several works on the history of the Virgin Islands and the Caribbean in general.

For additional fun, follow the travertine steps to the lower level. Don’t be surprised by the large rock jutting into the room. During construction of Cannon Cliffs it was determined that this rock was just too massive to move. Instead, it roots the Villa to the island and reminds guests of St. Thomas’ volcanic origins. The “grotto room” has custom glass cases displaying interesting collectibles from around the world. In the cabinets below there are assorted board games and puzzles for evenings of entertainment.

For more active fun, a ping pong table waits on a covered porch just outside the grotto. To the left of the grotto, pass through double mahogany doors to the well-equipped gym. Whether using the elliptical machine, the recumbent bike or the rowing machine, the amazing views will ease all the pains of exercising. Bedroom suites three and four are also on this level. Their locations on opposite sides of the grotto afford optimum privacy for each.

As beautiful as the interior of Cannon Cliffs is, the exterior beckons. The pool and sun decks provide ample space for taking in rays on the chaise lounges. A long picnic style table is perfect for enjoying a sandwich and beverage between dips in the pool. The main covered porch offers a respite from the sun with a comfortable settee, chairs and floor pillows. Grab a pair of binoculars, and this will become your favorite spot for watching wildlife or the occasional yacht pass by.

From cypress ceilings to custom stone work, from creative lighting to sumptuous furnishings, no detail has been overlooked at Cannon Cliffs Villa. What an incredible place to call home during your visit to paradise!

The island of St. Thomas is an emerald gem surrounded by Caribbean blue waters. Not only is it lovely, but it is also the bustling capitol of the United States Virgin Islands. Because it is a United States territory, U.S. citizens do not need a passport to travel here. The American dollar is the currency used and the official language is English. It functions under the protection and laws of the United States.

Although St. Thomas is only thirteen miles long and seven miles wide, it hosts thousands of visitors every year. Some stop for a day while cruising the Caribbean, others come for a week or more, mesmerized by the island’s charm and natural beauty.

The population and commercial center of the island is the port of Charlotte Amalie. It boasts the best duty free shopping in the Caribbean. With venues ranging from small island-style vendors to large brand name stores, shoppers and bargain hunters are rarely disappointed.

But, by most accounts, it is the near perfect weather, the crystal clear waters and the white sand beaches that keep the visitors coming. There are more than twenty lovely beaches that are easily accessible. The most famous is Magens Bay Beach, named by National Geographic as one of the top ten beaches in the world.

Every water sport imaginable is available in St. Thomas. From kayaking in mangrove swamps to deep sea fishing for marlin and tuna, the Caribbean Sea provides endless hours of entertainment and activity. Most charters companies are located on the east end of the island in the Red Hook area. Charter companies also offer day sails to St. John and the British Virgin Islands. For many visitors, the highlight of a visit to St. Thomas is a day spent on the water followed by a delicious dinner at one of the many first rate St. Thomas restaurants.

If visitors decide to take a break from the beaches and the water, St. Thomas has numerous on-island options. For example, Mahogany Run Golf Course on the north side of the island is open to the public. Its dramatic fourteenth hole is perched on a cliff above the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean. To see this and other sights, many taxi drivers offer island tours. For more adventurous souls, there are self-guided tour maps available. Some sights to take in include Coral World on the east end, St. Peter Greathouse and Botanical Garden on the north side and Blackbeard’s Castle in Charlotte Amalie. Remember to drive on the left!

From sunrise to sunset and beyond, St. Thomas offers something for everyone. St. Thomas is an American paradise.
