Description of the Northwood vacation cottage rental

Waterfront cottage located on tranquil Lucas Pond in Northwood, NH. Fishing season opens April 24th on this trout stocked pond. Only 1.5 hours from Boston, this house includes private beach, 20 ft. dock, oversized outdoor deck with gas grill, paddle boat, fire pit and screened in porch overlooking water. Cottage has 3 bedrooms in the main house and a detached bunk house that can accomodate more. This is a great place for a family vacation. No need to pack the car for a trip to the beach, all you need to do is open the back door! Catch fish right from the dock. If you are looking for peace and quiet you found it. Less than a mile from route 4 and the famous "antique alley", 30 minutes to Concord NH, 20 minutes to Deerfield Fair and 35-40 to minutes to the ocean in Portsmouth.

Area Information

It's the best of both worlds, peace and quiet and only a 2 minute drive to Hannaford Supermarket and minutes to Dunkin Donuts for a morning coffee run.

Relaxation meets tranquility

July 18, 2012

We spent a wonderful week on this property. We had plenty of room for all. The beach area and deck were our playground during the day and the screened in porch at night. Everything we needed and then some was supplied for us (includin life jackets!). The was house was well stocked. With the pond not allowing motor craft this really added to the tranquility. My son cooked on the grill everynight and also had a campfire most nights. The kids were in the water from morning til night and then slept thru the night. The house is on the shady side of the pond which we enjoyed, the sun peeked around 3pm on the water. If your party includes those who enjoy fishing you will not be disappointed. While the grown ups were catching trout with poles the little ones caught some litte fish with a net and pale it was tooooo cute to watch (oh they were also catching frogs). No airconditioning needed plenty of fans supplied. I would however suggest to visitors to go the extra few miles on route 4 to market basket as they offer better prices than Hannafords (we discovered it after we had already shopped). We had a small group of 7 however because we have a medically comlex child a nurse or myself have to be up all night with him and with the additional space of the bunk house the noise of his machines didn't bother them. Great place for kids it is a home meant to be lived in. This is the first time I have ever rented directly from owners and can't say enough how responsive Julie was to all my emails, it was a positive experience. We look forward to renting next year!!

Rented this camp on Lucas Pond for a week with another family. The house is rustic but comfortable and was equipped with everything we needed. The pond is great for fishing, swimming, and paddling around in the provided rowboat or peddle boats. We also brought our own canoe-perfect for quietly gliding across the water in early morning or evening. We loved that no power boats are allowed! very quiet and relaxing. We enjoyed grilling on the big deck every night and sunning on the dock every afternoon. There were 4 adults, 5 kids and 2 dogs and we still had plenty of room for sleeping and doing our own thing. The detached bunkhouse was the perfect haven for the 3 boys aged 10-13!! Hint: Don't miss the little store at the end of Lucas Pond Road. It's a real blast from the past. We took bike rides or jogs down there daily to buy worms for fishing. Also, they sell N.H. fishing licenses in the store. The owners were very well-organized, nice and helpful in making the rental arrangements, answering all our questions, etc. No problems whatsoever. (Thanks for all the emails, Julie:) We would definitely go back there again for another vacation. Highly recommend!

Pure relaxation!

The home was perfect, rustic, yet all the comforts of home. Great fishing right off the dock. Water was perfect temperature for the kids, who enjoyed the entire week immensely. Bunk house was a great retreat for the kids to have their own privacy. Bagpipes playing "Amazing Grace" was a nice touch as well. Very relaxing vacation, screen porch & deck was where we spent most of our time when we weren't in the water. Highly recommended property!

Adam, thanks for letting us stay at your place this week! We felt right at home from the pond, the fishing (right off the dock as you said), the swimming, the 3 Stooges DVD's "nyuh" , the comfy beds, the Dropkick Murphys, the nod to Yaz in the bunkhouse , the boats, the leftover Labatt's in the icebox, the grill, and on and on. You know you're relaxed when you tell time by the sun on the dock and the bagpipes. I'll call in the Spring. If you're up for renting again, we're in! Great vacation. Don't go making "enhancements".
