Area Information

Northwood, a small town in southeastern New Hampshire, was founded in 1773 when its first settlers successfully petitioned the Governor's Council requesting separation from Nottingham. Since this section of Nottingham had been known as the great north woods, the newly formed town was called Northwood.
Northwood is proud of its nine lakes and ponds, its mountain views, miles of country roads, and its many lovely old homes and public buildings.

Perfect Vacation Spot for a Family or a Couple!

My husband and I just spent a FABULOUS week at 86 Shore Drive in Northwood, New Hampshire! This lovely property has amazing views of Lake Harvey throughout the house, including beautiful French doors that lead to a nice deck off the master bedroom! The house is roomy enough for a family, but cozy enough for a couple! The convenient location provided the perfect "home base" for several "day trips" to the White Mountains to see waterfalls, covered bridges, & a wonderful dinner train ride, and to Maine for lobster, lighthouses, and beautiful beaches! We also spent several wonderful days simply relaxing in this comfortable, well-furnished lake house... equipped with everything we needed to feel right at home! The property manager (Wayne) is a wonderful neighbor... very friendly and helpful, while honoring our privacy completely! Thank you, Gary and Wayne, for your gracious hospitality! We hope to return to 86 Shore Drive! Blessings! Jack and Candice

A great family vacation

The house was immaculate when we arrived and the care taker was very helpful and easy to get in touch with. Nice property on the lake with room to relax and for the kids to run. Our children ranged from 2 to 12 years old, and they all LOVED the house. My son actually cried the night before we left. We will be back :)

Relaxing Vacation

The house was exactly what we were expecting. It was clean and had everything we needed for cooking and they also provide towels for showers. It was also nice having access to a washer and dryer. The lake was beautiful and very peaceful. The property manager lives across the street and anything we needed, he was there to answer our questions. The lake has some great canoeing, fishing, boating. I personally witnessed 4 good size bass caught just off the property.

Perfect Lakeside Retreat

We stayed here for three delightful weeks and we're definitely going back next year! The lake is lovely, the home is very comfortable and the caretaker is very, very helpful. We found the house to be in immaculate condition. The king-sized bed is very comfy and the fully applianced kitchen has everything you could ever want. We also enjoyed daily visits from the pair of loons, the duck family, the goose family and a blue heron. This home has it all. The twin beds in the loft are quite difficult to access, but otherwise, this home provides all the comforts of home, but in a lovely, lakeside setting.

Owner's reply:

The loft twin beds are accessed via a catwalk and are best suited for children and/or teens. We would not recommend older adults or elderly expect to sleep in these beds.

gorgeous view

Quiet, beautiful view, right on the lake. I don't think you'd fine much more right on the lake than this! We stayed 8 days- really relaxing and great location. Only complaint is better directions to the place need to be provided- arrived at night and it was challenging as there are no numbers, and the street isn't even labeled, so describing to park by the bear statue or some clues would have been great. Otherwise, it is a gorgeous area, and the house has a great view.

4th of July Weekend

Comfortable, restful, great place for kids and dogs. Good value. Fun time fishing. Nice people, nice neighbors. Fireworks were spectacular! Everything needed was there (except a can opener). We'll be back.
