Description of the Norwood vacation cottage rental

Its vacation time and if you want to get back to the basics for a good old fashioned Adirondack family vacation then this cottage on Norwood Lake is just the place for you and your family. Off the main road but close enough for civilization. Quiet and peaceful!

3 bedrooms that sleep 7 comfortably, one modern bath and a good old fashion privy down at the dock, this 900 sq. ft. newly remodeled in 2006 makes this an easy to maintain, fun vacation retreat. Mom will love the ease of entertaining in the great room and off the very large sundeck

Here you can sit and watch the sun come up, go down, easily keep your eye on the kids as they romp on your own 100 feet of private beach with your own private dock. A sun boat is included and you may bring your own Jet Ski or motorized boat. Four lifejackets are available... a must when on the boat.

Dad and the kids will love the great fishing right off the dock. The lake is a large lake and is not a crowded lake. This retreat offers lots of privacy.

Rental fees are $600.00 per week to $1000.00 per week dependant on holiday weeks and amount of persons.
(Rental fees are subject to change without notice and rental is subject to availability) We only rent our home out five times a year so availability is LIMITED! Book early!
Deposit and reservations are required.
This property is a year round rental.
No smoking accommodations.


Like lobsters' Then just up the street is a fine restaurant called the Lobster House. Lots of nearby stores are within 5 minutes driving distance.
Upper Canada Village is one hour away - Eisenhower Locks closeby.

This rental is located between Potsdam and Massena.

Just 12 miles away is a flash from the past a Route 56 Drive-In movie theatre! Two first run movies for a LOW price nightly in the summer! A fun inexpensive family outing- or if you prefer a movie theatre ( 4 plex) is right in Potsdam.
Upper Canada village is one hour away- It is Canada's Williamsburg- a fully operational 1800's village...very cool.
Canadian border is closeby right in Massena you can cross over the bridge-
Be sure to see the Eisenhower Locks in Massena- a smaller version of the Panama Canal- neat to see the big cargo ships go thru the locks at the St. Lawrence river.
SUNY Potsdam is right here as well as Clarkson University, Canton SUNY and St. Lawrence University.
Be sure to check dates and times for the local events- all the little surrounding towns have great field days and parades. Many civil war and revolutionary war re-enactments. Triathalon in Norwood is in August- runs right along the lake!
Great jogging area or rollerblading.

We have in Potsdam the BEST NY pizza in the state- Sergi's- be sure to visit it!
Downtown Norwood has great icecream shop and small diner- also every Thurday is a FREE concert in the park! Norwood hosts the biggest celebration around on the 4th of July- great parade and fireworks.


OFF SEASON RATES ARE AVAILABLE APRIL THRU END OF JUNE- $600 week- (fall rates are lower too) IN SEASON IS $700-1000 PER WEEK DEPENDANT ON THE PERSONS AND WEEK SELECTED. We also can do a 3 nite minimum at $150/night. WE WILL NOT RENT TO MORE THAN A TOTAL OF SEVEN PERSONS... WE PREFER FAMILIES OR FAMILY MINDED PERSONS. We accept one pet for a pet fee. Sorry this property closes for the winter unless other arrangements are made before Oct. We generally re-open in April. THANKS

New stainless grill on site on deck but since the propane is out of sight you must get your own tank- available at both ends of the road at two local stores... Fire pit is there if you burn only wood you purchase... please no cutting down live trees!!! Since Potsdam houses Clarkson College, Potsdam State University and Crane School of Music there is always something going on for free or very low cost entertainment and this nearby town is loaded with all kinds of restaurants. We rented for a week while on business. Much better than staying in a hotel. Being able to cook our own meals was a plus. The lake was beautiful. We were able to get out on our canoe a few times. The leaves were almost at peak and just beautiful. It is centrally located for where we were working.

We rented the place for a week when we went to drop off our son to Clarkson University. The home is beautiful with a large deck and view of the lake. It was close to the college, Lake Placid and Canada and so much more comfortable than a hotel room. Donna’s warmness in welcoming us to her home was evident in how the home was maintained. We plan to make it our home every time we visit our son for the next four years. The North Country region is beautiful to explore and come back to a warm home.

My son and I stayed the first week of August, 2008. We had a great time. We kept our boat at the dock and fished every morning and evening. The cottage was exactly what we were looking for. Centrally located and in the perfect setting. It is had keeping a 17 year old son happy but with all the good fishing it was easy. Donna, it was a wonderful experience. Keep up the good work.

We had a small family reunion here and had a wonderful time. The fishing was great, and the firepit was a very nice touch. The Lake itself is very peaceful, quiet and beautiful. The location of the Cottage is nice because it gave the feeling of seclusion, but there are stores and luxuries just minutes away. We'd recommend this Cottage and plan to return.

Plenty of room and ambience in a cottage with a lot of room to run around outside and a beautiful lake to watch a sunset. Huge deck makes for great grilling and eating outdoors. There's easy access to the nearby towns as it's close to the highway but far enough away to be safe. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there and the owner was very helpful and let us use a lot of stuff there.
