Description of the Oakland vacation cabin rental

This cute little cabin is nestled in a cove with a private beach and excellent view. The property is surrounded on two sides with trees allowing for privacy. There is good fishing, right from the dock. Screened front proch is an excellent spot to enjoy meals and to watch the sunset. This end of Messalonskee Lake is quiet especially during the week. Waterville is ten minutes away with a variety of shopping centers and movie theaters. It is only a one hour drive to the beautiful coast of Maine.

Off Season “Tuck Away” is just right!

October 4, 2011

After Labor Day many of the “summer people” go “away” and leave this area with a much smaller population. The result is a small cottage with a very nice screened in pouch overlooking the lake surrounded by trees in front and along one side. A blind allows for privacy on the other side from a close by camp. No need for the blind, it’s “off season” and the cottage is “tucked away” between two unoccupied camps. Our night was spent on that porch enjoying the last night of summer with the night air just right and no wind, the calm lake and occasional shower. A perfect place to kick back, blend with the natives (both 2 and 4 legged) without being noticed. Perfectly Peaceful!

Excellent Getaway

Excellent place for a relaxing getaway with our dogs. The lake is a couple of steps from the back door - perfect for swimming. Great kayaking and a great spot for just soaking in the scenery. The cabin was perfectly sized for the two of us and our two dogs.

The cabin was just perfect - the beach front was shallow which was wonderful for my 4 year old granddaughter.. the only issue we had was a mouse problem that got into our food, the range had only one working burner- kinda of hard to cook breakfast. and a leak in the bathroom in which all my towels and toiletries got soaked. But all and all it was a good vacation.

Cozy cabin in the woods

Wonderful no frills cabin with a beautiful view. The wood burning stove came in handy a few nights, adding to the rustic feel. Swimming was wonderful and the wild life was amazing. We ate all our meals on the screened in porch. Our dogs seemed to have a good time also!

Was a wet week but had plenty of time to fish and tube. Caught lots of bass and pike. Camp was small but comfortable. The water pressure on the shower was unreal.

We are a couple traveling with 2 dogs. This cabin was comfortable. We fixed breakfast and dinner in the kitchen and looked at the lake as we ate. My morning swim was wonderful.
