Description of the Oaxaca vacation apartment rental
The apartment is located in a safe and secure neighborhood at the Northwest edge of the Centro Historico. Museums, art galleries, cathedral, churches and historic landmarks are within easy walking distance.
We try to take care of our guests not only when they are in their beautiful apartment, but also when they are out on the town. We know that any new town can be confusing. To help, we give our guest the use of a local cell phone and contact numbers for those moments when you find yourself on a street corner, wondering which way to go or where a good restaurant is in the area. The local cell phone also eliminates those nasty 7000 dollar a minute roaming charges that were never quite explained correctly by your carrier.
The owner, lives 5 minutes from the apartment and is available to answer your questions about the city or arrange anything from private tours to cooking lessons for his guests. After living almost 14 years in Oaxaca, Anthony has extensive knowledge of the language schools and their programs and would be happy to help with any information you might need to help you decide on the best school for you. Or, if you prefer, he can arrange private tutors for you or your small group. We think private Spanish classes in the comfort and privacy of your beautiful vacation home is a great option. Best of all, with home classes, you can pick your own schedule. You set your preferred schedule between early morning classes (from 8 to 12:00 am), afternoon classes (from 1 to 5 pm) or evening classes (from 7 to 11 pm). We feel the night classes are a fantastic option since your days are free to see the sites or go on tours and not spend the generous Oaxacan sunshine inside a concrete classroom. If you are staying several weeks, class schedules can be changed by the week if desired. Classes are held in your apartment for 4 hours a day, 5 days a week.
Come and see us. We think you'll love the place.

Reviews for this vacation apartment rental in Oaxaca, Oaxaca, Mexico

Very comfortable, beautiful views
August 13, 2011
I stayed here for 2 weeks in August 2011. This is a great apartment and location. The layout is perfect - very open to the outside, yet secure and safe. This was my fourth trip to Oaxaca, and definitely the most comfortable accommodation-wise. The owner was very helpful every step of the way; the kitchen is well stocked with cooking supplies; the bathrooms are huge by Oaxacan standards, with large, roomy showers. These and all the other amenities make this a unique and extremely homey setting for your stay in Oaxaca. I will certainly consider staying here on subsequent trips to Oaxaca.

Great Apartment and Location!
July 26, 2009
This was our home during our recent stay in Oaxaca City. It is a lovely apartment with an amazing view, a well-stocked kitchen, and a perfect location. It's easily within walking distance to the city center/ zocalo, but in a quiet neighborhood. Great Place!

We (family of 3 - two adults and one 9 yr old) stayed here for a week in July. It has two big bedrooms, two bathrooms, a huge kitchen with everything you'd ever need (including filtered water to drink). The living and dining rooms are large too. The best feature is the HUGE patio. Great views, very roomy with gazebo, so you can sit there if it is raining too. The owner is very responsive and bought us some requested items before our arrival and arranged for a taxi to the airport when we were leaving. There are also a few "misc." stores very near by for essentials and snacks. The location is safe too. It is about a 15 minute walk down to the center (to the Santa Domingo church), then another 5 to the zocolo. We did not mind the walk at all. Would highly recommend this as a rental option in Oaxaca. Wish we were still there! (And when you here people yelling in the morning - it is the water or gas trucks coming down the street. Aqua!)
Recommended for:Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.
Great Place To Stay

Just back from a great trip to Oaxaca. Spent nine nights at Casa De Emily. It was a short walk into the center. The terrace upstairs was very nice. had my coffee up there every morning and sat up there at night to enjoy the city lights, the view was excellent! The apartment is very spacious and bright. I slept in the master bedroom which was very spacious and comfortable, I got great sleep!! There is a very convenient store right by the apartment. The owner Anthony and his family were very nice and helpful. They let us look at the smaller apartment downstairs that was also nice. I would stay there again.
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, sightseeing, tourists without a car, girls getaway.

!!! Incredible view from the roof top terrace...easily 180 degrees vista of city w/ the Zapotec Archaeological Zone of Monte Alban on the horizon. Anthony was kind enough to pick us up at the airport...recommended for first time visitors. The pent house was BRIGHT, spacious, airy, w/ a fully equipped modern, American kitchen...sometimes rare in parts of Mexico...the bedrooms had separation for maximum privacy. It's a short walk, down hill, of about 15 minutes to the Church of Santo Domingo and the adjoining Museum of the Cultures of Oaxaca, not to be missed for it's historical collection and the classic architecture. The house of Bentio Juarez, a visitors information kiosk, a tour agency VIAJES XOCHITLAN,, and the pedestrian walk direct to the Zocalo. and the Cathedral of Oaxaca. The walkway is lined with shops, jewelry stores, eateries, book stores, night clubs, a pharmacy...and a Burger King...should you need a fix. In minutes you are in the Zocalo, the hub of the action and place for the "tastes" of Mexico. We followed our MOON TRAVEL GUIDE for restaurants...very successful dinning experiences.. Note: recommend establishments with second floor views, ASADOR VASCO, LA CASA de la ABULA and TERRA NOVA, all on the Zocalo...The two main indoor shopping markets are just south of the Zocalo. We always took a cab ride home, depending on your preferences for an up hill walk, cost $2.85 USD, worth it. Lovely family, Anthony (Californian), Sandra (Oaxacan), 10 year old Emily and her little brother. VERY accommodating, attentive, Anthony was always available for whatever our needs were, including a ride to the supermarket. He has lived in Oaxaca for 12 years and knows the territory. Misc. Lucy is a local store, down the street for basic food needs. Safe working class neighborhood, my daughters walked to the Zocalo on their own. Note: An international singing star is building a house four doors away...She and her band were on tour in the U.S. while I was there. There are three small boutique hotels in walking distance of this location, as is the Basilica of Our Lady of Soledad, the patron saint of Oaxaca. Definitely worth a stay at Casa Emily...
Recommended for:Adventure seekers, sightseeing, tourists without a car, families with teenagers.

This apartment is great. Five of us stayed there in July 2008 and had a wonderful time. The highlight of our trip was cooking and enjoying meals, cocktails and wonderful family time out on the VERY large terrace with the amazing view. Anthony was a great host - above and beyond. We hope to return sometime very soon and will definitely be staying at Casa de Emily.

If you are coming to Oaxaca on vacation, this apartment is a must stay. It is spacious, comfortable, affords gorgeous views in the night and the day and is a first class accommodation. It is an easy walk to the zocalo, and the city is at your finger tips. Because the apartment is in a neighborhood, part of the culture of Oaxaca is available to you that you would not get staying in the typical tourist destinations. The cost is very reasonable, and the attention paid to detail is amazing in a rental. Owner Anthony was the perfect host, assisting us in every way possible. This apartment will exceed your expectations in every way; it is the perfect place to stay in Oaxaca.
