Description of the Ocean View vacation cottage rental

WE ALSO OFFER WEEKEND RENTALS THRU THE YEAR

a cozy cottage built by a local family in 1886, this home has lots of history and has been updated to insure your comfort. Located on a wildlife preserve with trails thru the woods to the bay and a sandy beach, it is a perfect quiet getaway. This property is great year round for a quiet peaceful relaxing time. The property is about 15 acres with the cottage sitting on the front acre. In the back of the property completly out of your view is the rest of the farm and surrounding all of this is the 90 acre ecelogical preserve donated by my boyfriends parents. This insures that we all have absolute privacy with our own acess to the preserve and our own yard. The cottage yard is securely fenced and is outlined with tall pines and 10ft swaying bamboo.

The center for the inland bays has established lots of nice trails thru the restored wooded field ending with the indian river bay with a sandy beach. On the way to the beach you will be able to check out all the wetlands wildlife from 2 observation platforms tucked in the woods. Across the street the preserve continues with food plots and pine trees and another obserevation deck. At the bay you can launch your kayak, let your 4 legged friend romp in the no wave bay or just wander thru the water looking for clams with your toes.

There is a private pool available with advance notice right here on the property. I am happy to arrange a special pool party for kids or adults. Maybe a burger and hot dog lunch cooked under the pines

Area Description

The beach is just 3 miles away driving, 1 mile as the crow flyes. We offer plenty of dinning options and shopping. The owner lives in the rear of the property and will be happy to help with spa and dinner reservations as well as any other local info you may need. You will not find another property like this one. The cottage sits on 15 bay front private acres and some of our guests never leave the farm. We offer hikes thru the ecologically restored fields with the trails marked with native tree varieties, observation platforms overlooking the wetlands and osprey nests as well as swimming and clamming in the shallow bay lined with fabuolous sandy beaches at the bay's edge. Great for kids and pooches. Take a picnic packed by the owner and relax and forget about ever going home !!!! When you get back to the lovingly restored cottage rinse off in the awesome large outdoor shower, prepair a meal on the outside grill, and than kick back around the backyard firepit and make some smoores. When the kids go to bed take a nice long dip in the hottub which is compleatly private. Than sit on one of the decks and watch the stars.
The sunsets are just fantastic over the bay and a late afternoon walk is just what the doctor ordered.

We also offer horseback riding ( with advance reservations), and your kids will love meeting and playing with the mini horses and goats.
New this year we offer a kids camp and our renters can book a drop in day so the adults can go off shopping or just enjoy a quiet day at the beach. The kids camp will offer a pool party, horse play, bay activities with kayaking and nature hikes.
We can also doggie sit for the friendly ones.

The owner is a chef and will be happy to prepair foods ready for you to finish when you want. Mouth watering crabcakes, hand trimmed filet ready for the grill, awesome salads and tons of other options. A menu can be emaild after you book. Imagine coming back from the beach and in your in your fridge is everything you need to have an easy gourmet meal. So much better than fighting the crowds for an okay meal.
Having a birthday or other special occasion, we will be happy to arrange a wonderful private party in your yard or we can offer an amazing setting overlooking the bay under the tall pines. No party is to small. You can even arrange a pool party for the kids

Other Fees: 100. CLEANING FEE for the cottage. MORE if left really bad or any harm to contents or missing items. additional fee for the kids camp, reservations needed

Cottage Weekend, October 1, 2009

We enjoyed our weekend at the cottage. We spent the weekend walking our dogs on the nature trails, kayaking the bay and just kicking back and relaxing in and around the cottage. The property is lovely, the owner very friendly and accommodating and we will remember our weekend there fondly. I would recommend this rental to anyone looking to get away to relax.

Well, we cried all the waqy home. Diane is such a fun person with a true heart for vacationers. She is very busy, but still managed to fill all our needs and wants for a fun birthday escape for my mom and myself. The house was just as we imagined and better. The pictures don't do it justice. It is such a happy house even when it rains. We had a super time and will plan a longer stay next year. The crab Diane got us was super and we are picky. Thank you and 10 stars, girlfriend!

We had an absolutely wonderful time on The Farm. The rustic, quaint cottege in the midst of the preserve was an ideal setting for a fall getaway. Our Sophie (Golden Retriever) got to meet Diane's Sophie (miniature pony) nose-to-nose. It was awesome! Sophie also enjoyed her first trip to the beach and the bay. The weather was wonederful (to Diane's credit!!) and the quiet lack of bustling familes with kids was a real treat and a great break from the rigors of school. Thanks for sharing The Farm with us. This vacation ranks second only to our Honeymoon, and that's pretty impressive. We are sure to return.

Incredible Place, November 1, 2007

My family spent a week at the cottage during July, we had an incredible time. Diane is very warm and welcoming. The trails were beautiful and the cottage cozy and comfortable. We had our grandchildren there for 3 days (6&10) they totally enjoyed making s'mores over the fire pit in the yard. We also brought our 2 dogs, who loved swimming in the bay. My family of 6 just returned from a long weekend at Hi Point Farm. It is a charming cottage and the property is incredible. So peaceful, serene, yet 3 miles from the ocean. The trails leading to the bay are beautiful and well maintained. Diane was so very accomodating, and a gracious hostess. She prepared a meal for us that was out of this world. My parents, (father 81), live in Myrtle Beach, and are very picky about their seafood. My father had Diane prepare him crabcakes to take home even. He said they were the best he has ever had. I am a vegetarian, with a food and beverage background, and her lasagna was better than anything I have ever created. Our greyhound accompanied us and he too sends 4 paws up for the experience. Great, very large fenced in yard. Just can't say enough good about our experience. We will be back in a few months. Thanks to Diane for sharing her amazing property.- Laurie
