Description of the Okeechobee vacation home rental

Nice, clean, newly remodeled, two bedroom home with Florida room, on canal. From the back yard you can get in your boat and go to Lake Okeechobee in less than two minutes. From the lake you can go up the Kissimmee River, or down through the St Lucie canal to Stuart/Palm Beach or to Ft. Myers on the West Coast. Many fishing guides in area to take you Bass or Crappie fishing on the Lake and River. Large bass are quite common. You can fish from your back yard and watch the blue herons, otters, and occasional manatees.

Area Information

Okeechobee is a laid back fishing and boating community. It also is home to many large cattle ranches. The community holds weekend festivals throughout the year, as well as several rodeos. It is relaxing and quiet.

For more excitement, you can get to all the following attractions in one to 1-1/2 hours drive:

Orlando attractions: Disney, Universal and everything else in Orlando is about 75 minutes drive up 441.

West Palm Beach: The zoo and drive-through wildlife park, Lion Country Safari, are about an hour away.

Beaches: You are about an hour from Vero Beach, Ft. Pierce, Stuart/Palm City, Jupiter/Hobe Sound. All have fine beaches, restaurants and tourist attractions.

There are additional attractions in the Central part of the state, just west and northwest of Okeechobee, in Arcadia, Sebring and Lakeland areas.

The Seminole Casino is about 30 minutes around the lake.

A Little bit of heaven

It was our pleasure to stay at this property for Jan. & Feb. this year. The property is just as advertised and not a complaint was noted. Our hosts were fantastic to deal with and went above and beyond in ensuring our comfort and care. Both myself and my wife look forward to another stay at this great retreat from our harsh Indiana winters.

Okeechobee is one of the yet to be discovered vacation places. This particular place is exactly as described. Our hosts were most hospitable. We certainly enjoyed the quiet vacation atmosphere and added benefit of being far from Indiana winter. The small town pace was much to our liking. We hope to escape again to Okeechobee.
