Description of the Okeechobee vacation home rental

Nice, clean, completely remodeled, one bedroom home on canal. There is a boat house underneath the house. You can get in your boat and go to Lake Okeechobee in less than two minutes. From the lake you can go up the Kissimmee River, or down through the St Lucie canal to Stuart/Palm Beach or to Ft. Myers on the West Coast. Many fishing guides in area to take you Bass or Crappie fishing on the Lake and River. Large bass are quite common. You can fish from your back yard and watch the blue herons, otters, and occasional manatees.

Area Information

Okeechobee is a laid back fishing and boating community. It also is home to many large cattle ranches. The community holds weekend festivals throughout the year, as well as several rodeos. It is relaxing and quiet.

For more excitement, you can get to all the following attractions in one to 1-1/2 hours drive:

Orlando attractions: Disney, Universal and everything else in Orlando is about 75 minutes drive up 441.

West Palm Beach: The zoo and drive-through wildlife park, Lion Country Safari, are about an hour away.

Beaches: You are about an hour from Vero Beach, Ft. Pierce, Stuart/Palm City, Jupiter/Hobe Sound. All have fine beaches, restaurants and tourist attractions.

There are additional attractions in the Central part of the state, just west and northwest of Okeechobee, in Arcadia, Sebring and Lakeland areas.

The Seminole Casino is about 30 minutes around the lake.

Great w/1 minor area of concern.

I and my son stayed here the last week of March, Loved the House, Location, Landlord and Canal, the one and only thing that i had a small problem with was the boat-house under the house, don't get me wrong, it is a perfect place for it, it was just very shallow and needed more protection from the cement walls as you pulled your boat in and tied it off. We were very carefull and did not get any scrapes or scratches but it took both of us to do it, to do it right anyway. LOL Great Time Great Vacation. Totally Enjoyed it.

The house was as advertised. Very convenient for fishermen. Garage for your boat with lights and power. Great fishing in the canals or 5 10 min boat ride to the Taylor lock to Okeechobee. Great stay. Would book again...
