Scrub Pines

For families & friends who rent together. This is one of four adorable cottage condos at Scrub Pines, only a minute walk to beautiful Grand Beach, right down the street. Rent this one alone or if with friends & other family members, rent along with one of the other cottages here.

The cottage has two bedrooms; master has a queen bed; 2nd b/r has two twins. There’s also a new queen sleep sofa in the living room. Sleeps 4 in beds…6 with sleep sofa. Home has a bath with shower, outside enclosed shower, cable TV, WIFI, gas BBQ grille. Has Air Conditioning & heat, if needed. Park 2 cars….one in driveway & one out front. It’s only about a 5-minute walk to the famous pier for those fries, fried dough & amusements. Pets okay with permission. Off Season spring & fall, rates vary.

Old Orchard has a beautiful beach called Grand Beach. The best in the State of Maine. There are gift shops, eateries, amusements, an arcade & the famous Pier at Old Orchard Beach. Amtrak runs trains from Boston to Portland daily with stops in Saco year round and in Old Orchard during summer season. Saco & Old Orchard are adjacent towns. Saco is adjacent to Old Orchard to the south. Scarborough (Pine Point) is to the north, adjacent to Old Orchard Beach.

Saco & Old Orchard exits are #36 on the Maine Turnpike and are half way between Kittery & Freeport for outlet shopping; 20 minutes to South Portland to a major mall and 20 minutes to Portland. There are also many shops along Rte. 1 for antique stuff between Wells & Scarborough. The Old Port in Portland is at the waterfront with shops, 25 minute ride. We’re about 1-1/2 hours or so from the Boston area.

Only 2-1/2 miles to Ferry Beach, Camp Ellis & Old Orchard.

Saco beaches are named: Kinney Shore, Bayview, Ferry Beach & Camp Ellis. Kinney Shores is adjacent to Old Orchard. Ferry Beach, Camp Ellis & Bayview are located about 3 miles south of Old Orchard Beach and are at the ocean on Saco Bay. (see info below). Bayview is a little more prestigious area. State law now prohibits bonfires on any beach in Maine.

Old Orchard has amusements & gift shops. From either of the Saco beaches or the OOB beach, it’s about 5 miles to Funtown which is a theme park & water park; about 7 miles to the Aquaboggin, a water park; 5 miles to major supermarkets.

Camp Ellis is a "Fishing Village" area….now dotted with newly-remodeled. Located where the Saco River joins the ocean with a mile-long jetty in the canal. The dock is open year round, is still an active fishing area for commercial lobstermen & fishermen. You can go over to the dock and watch both fishing vessels and pleasure boats. Whale watching, paragliding & fishing charters operate out of the docks in Camp Ellis.

Kayak rentals are nearby for use on the Saco River, which goes out to the ocean at Saco Bay. There is also a mile-long jetty to fish from or just to walk on, a large dock with both fishing & pleasure boats in the harbor, a large dock with both fishing & pleasure boats in the harbor.
