Area Description

You are on the best and safest block in Old San Juan, right in the middle of the finest shops, galleries and restaurants.
You are surrounded by historic monuments: one block from the Cristo Chapel, Pigeon Park, the Governors Mansion, and Plaza de Armas, where you'll find cafes, grocer and drug stores as well as a trolly stop and taxi stand. You are 2 blocks from the El Convento Hotel and the Puerta de San Juan, the ancient gateway to the city. Here you enter the middle of the "Paseo": a beautiful mile long walkway along the bay that stretches from the ancient cemetery to the cruise ship docks. This is a great morning jog or walk.

Legendary nightlife is 4 blocks away: "SoFo" restaurant district to the east, and San Sebastian St. for clubs & bars to the North (up the hill).

If you plan to stay in Old San Juan, you won't need a car. If you will have a car anyway, you can usually find free on-street parking nearby, but it's a bit of a hunt. If you prefer, there are several inexpensive parking lots within a few blocks.

BOVEDA Apts. are the BEST, May 4, 2009
By David Lutz (New York, NY)
The Boveda apartments in Old San Juan are the BEST! I had the pleasure of being one of the first guests in the Garden Suite with my girlfriend visiting from Germany. I was apprehensive at first as to how the thing about the employees coming through the apartment would work out, as privacy is important to me. It turned out to be no problem. The room is separate, and the door locks. If they went through the other part, we never saw them, but really, we were out pretty much all day, and after 6pm the store is closed, so there's no one coming in. Actually the employees in the store were a real plus, serving as a sort of concierge service. We were both impressed with the room. It was cool and quiet, and the living room is like a balcony overlooking lush tropical plants and trees, with over sized wicker furniture to sink into. Not having to rent a car or struggle with parking was a huge time and money saver. We could walk the Old City, enjoying the cultural heritage, and even fl

Simply the best!, April 23, 2009

Love these places. I have stayed at both apts in the last few years. They're comfortable and they have what it takes to make you feel at home, including the hospitality of the caretakers. I'm and Old San Juan expert and I have stayed in many places before, but these are my favorites. I highly recommended them. Love the store downstairs too, La Boveda.

My Girlfriend and I stayed for 4 nights in February for my birthday and found the locationa nd apartment to be ideal for experiencing the city. The apartment nice with all of the amenities you need, though the staircase to the bedroom is a bit steep. Besides being close to everything the best part was the balcony where you could sit and watch the world go by.

Perfect for us, January 23, 2008
By Cynthia Camero (Puerto rico)
I truly enjoyed this apartment, It's location is ideal. Right next to Governors residence, restaurants and El Morro the 500 year old fort. The airconditioning was great and we enjoyed just being on the balcony watching people go by. It is important to know that their is a long stairway to go up to the second floor so you must be able to go up the stairs. I reccomend this apartment.

My girlfriend & I made our first trip to Puerto Rico in March, on what was the first leg of an extended overseas holiday. After travelling for the better part of 2 days by plane just to reach the country it was amazing good luck to find this place to stay. No exageration to say it would be very hard to find a better apartment in San Juan, on so many levels: location, privacy, security and comfort. An amazing base to set about travels of San Juan and further afield. For a start, this is in one of the safest parts of town. We stayed for a week and in that time ate at probably 10 fantastic restaurants no further than 5 minutes walk away. We hired a car to enable touring further afield for golf and other destinations (Las Croabas fishing village, downtown Fajardo, a bioluminescent bay, El Yunque Rain Forest, Camuy Caves, Arecibo Observatory, El Conquistador golf course, Dorado Beach golf courses). Very large and functional kitchen. Great loft with queen sized bed. Enormous living area with balcony, high ceilings throughout. Great tv reception in both the bedroom and the living room. You will find a cheaper option if you desperately want to but I am confident to say nothing of such high quality for this price. This is a class apartment most people would be more than happy to live in. Fully self contained. A real delight. I have travelled extensively throughout the world and freely suggest this apartment is one of my most comfortable and value for money finds to date. Feel free to contact me if you wish to verify any details. Happy travels & thanks for the memories, Puerto Rico. Sam C

Great place in San Juan!, March 18, 2007
By Gary Williams (Arizoana USA)
We just spent 2 weeks in Old San Juan, and that was the best vacation I have spent in some time. We were so happy to find this location to stay at. It was near everything we wanted and made a great base to explore the island at our will. The apartment was huge and had everything we needed. The owner was always ready to take care of us and help us with our plans; If you want to stay in a great place that is right on the the beaten path, then you will enjoy this nice and charming guest house.

I have enjoyed many stays in this Safe, quite apt located in the HEART of San Juan when I travel to Puerto Rico on business, Its like staying with Family ,without the hassels and screaming kids. I only stay here when I travel. The price is always resonable.

 Central Location, March 7, 2007
By Howard (Reno, NV USA)
We stayed in the Garden Apartment (smaller unit) prior to leaving on a cruise. The location was great, as we could easily walk to all the Old San Juan tourist sites and then the next day roll our suitcases down the hill right to the cruise ship dock. We found the room quiet and felt secure enough to not ever worry about our cameras or laptops.
