We are located in the residential area, but within walking distance to every place of interest in the old city. Our neighborhood is composed of a close knit community with people from all walks of lives. This makes it very safe because almost everyone knows one another.
The city is surrounded by water, so you see the ocean from almost every point, making it great to walk around just sightseeing. There is also a good shopping area, with outlets from different mainland stores, restaurants for every taste and budget, fun nightlife. For the culturally inclined there are two museums and several Art Galleries. A beautiful walk to the nearest beach is only 30 minutes or 10 minutes by car.

We rented this apt. so we could experience what it would be like to live like the local residents live. It was perfect. There was an air conditioner in the bedroom but after the first few nights we no longer used it as the apt. built in the 1800's was built in such a way that the air moved through the apartment perfectly with the help of the inner courtyard and the ceiling fans. There were no glass windows in thec apartment. What windows there were had luvers so the wind traveled through the building. It was great. Our host and hostess were friendly people but not intrusive in any way. They were helpful when we wanted help getting around otherwise left us alone. The old city is so extraordinary it is hard to describe. The local people were very helpful when we were looking for something and we felt very welcome. The last night we had dinner after dark in the middle of a dead end cobblestone street down by the chapel; a very romantic setting and very private. All in all the whole experience in Puerto Rico was more than either I or my wife had anticipated.

The place appear to be clean, but it was infested with ants, under the bed, between the mattresses, a real nightmare. Fortunately we only paid 50% of the total 3 weeks we were planning on staying, since we had to leave after 4 nights. Needles to say that the owner refused to give us our money back. Full of fleas (the cat population outside was at least half a dozen) Owner said, "it is Puerto Rico" but i differ strongly. Complelty unlivable

Perfect location to anything and everything in Old San Juan! Parking space was a must. Owner Maria was helpful with any questions we had, and very friendly.

This place has already been described in detail in the other reviews, so I won't rehash all the amenities and features. My family and I (4 people total) stayed here, and the parking space is nothing short of a godsend in Old San Juan. Some travel guides recommend not picking up one's rental car until one has to go outside of Old San Juan (inconvenient, if you think about it) because of the lack of parking, but this place made it possible for us to make the neighborhood our "base of operations" with no hassle. What peace of mind to be able to take a day trip and not have to worry about where to park when we got back! The location is close to everything you could want to see in Old San Juan, but the solid, colonial construction of the house meant that it was very quiet inside the apartment (very important because we have a 23-month old!). The coffee maker and stove let us save money by not having to eat out all the time or order room service (if we had gone to a hotel). Maria and her husband were very friendly and welcoming and asked if we needed anything to make sure our stay was pleasant. It truly felt like our home-away-from-home, and we will definitely stay there again on our next Puerto Rican vacation which cannot come soon enough.

This is a great little apartment and Maria is wonderful! The location is perfect -- it's easy to walk to everything. We had a great time here and will definitely come back some day.

Very nice small apartment just on the edge of Old San Juan - spectacular view just across the street of the ocean below from up on a hill. Excellent location for walking to any point of interest in OSJ - no need for taxis. Close to restaurants and shops. Very comfortable.

I recommend this lodging to those who want to explore and experience Old San Juan for a few days or a week. See other reviews for the advantages of having your own parking space in the old city. Old San Juan is small enough that everything to see and do is walking distance, including good reasonably priced as well as upscale restaurants. Economy sized car and parking space make for easy day trips outside the old city. The apartment is only a half block from the sidewalk that runs along the Atlantic from fort San Cristobal to El Morro, which is perfect for morning walks and evening sunset walks overlooking a vast expanse of ocean. These are not deluxe accommodations but clean and quite adequate. The owners are amiable and helpful. I used the small kitchen mostly for coffee, breakfast and stocking cold drinks and snacks. The grocery and drug stores are nearby at Plaza de Armas. Air conditioner in bedroom is a big plus. Unairconditioned living room/kitchen is comfortable with ceiling fan and breezes through opened shutters on tall front doors. The sofa and chairs could be a bit more comfortable. I used the wifi connection, although the signal was weak at times. TV has a variety of movie and music only channels. This is a worthwhile place to stay while you enjoy the charm, culture, scenery and history of this 500 year old city.

A friend and I stayed here in April and we had a wonderful experience. The neighbors were friendly and chatted with us and the owners could not have been kinder. They were very helpful and friendly. If you don't want to pay the high prices of a hotel but still want to stay in Old San Juan, this is a great alternative. It also has a free parking spot, which eliminated the huge hassle of vying for a spot on the crowded streets. Trust me, if you stay here, the parking spot alone will make you glad that you did. I would definitely stay here again the next time I come to San Juan.

We couldn't have been happier with this apartment. It's on the ground floor but set back about fifty feet from the street, which creates a sense of privacy and openness. The parking space is a big plus in Old San Juan, where parking is scarce. Also, Old San Juan is home to many stray cats, who are remarkably well cared for by the residents. The space in the front of the apartment is a haunt of some of these strays, several of whom who became our friends. The apartment itself is clean and airy, with extraordinarily high ceilings (very common in Old San Juan). And finally, and perhaps most importantly, the landlady, who lives upstairs, is a warm and lovely person. We wouldn't stay anywhere else.

Maria and her husband were fantastic. From the moment we arrived they welcomed us like old friend that haven’t seeing each other in years to this little, Spanish style apartment close to everything in Old San Juan. The rare parking space was useful from the beginning. The accommodations were comfortable. We have no complaints and we will definitely recommend Maria’s place and stay here in the future. We even met the lady renting next to us and have a new friend. We just had a wonderful time. Gracias.

The location was great, right near the ocean, one of the forts, and a couple of good local restaurants. A nice, quiet neighborhood across the street from a school. Included nice touches like beach towels etc. The owner lives upstairs if you need anything. And she's not exagerating when she says a parking space in Old San Juan is a rarity. My only complaint is that I spent too much time watching the free direct tv ;)
