Wonderful Cottage

My wife and 3 boys (8,6,3) just got back from a fabulous week in this onset cottage. The entire family had a wonderful time enjoying this property. I cannot stress enough the value of the backyard set-up (for parents with young children), there is a nice sized deck with table and grill for eating and hanging out, the next level down is a sandy beach set up for kids to play in sand and another table and area to hang out, and below that is the ocean/bay/beach where kids can swim in high tide, canoe, and paddle boat. The ocean bay water is really warm and calm, bottom is a bit mucky if that bothers you, you may want to bring swim shoes. There's also a nice basic outdoor shower/dressing area that is nice after swimming. Every single night, we had stunning sunsets. Its on a dead end st, quiet neighborhood, with short walks/bike rides into the village and the big main beach. This is a wonderful cottage, peaceful, cute, and although it's not right on cape, you avoid the awful cape traffic and enjoy all of the benefits. Its not a long drive over (during non rush hr times) to falmouth, yarmouth, etc if you want to go to the main cape. The town is not fancy, it's a sleepy, authentic coastal town, a nice little undiscovered gem, just like the cottage. This cottage is not a luxury resort, it is a really nice house/cottage, so if your expectations are aligned correctly, I would highly recommend it. We will be back again in the future!

Awesome experience

My daughters, ages 21 and 14, and I recently returned from a stay at this adorable home. From the moment we entered the house, we knew we had made the right decision. I was a bit leary at first renting in Onset, as I had staued on the Cape many times and was afraid that perhaps we would be too far away from the some of the attrations that we wished to visit. On the other hand, I looked forward to the serenity that such a location would offer. The owners of the cottage were there to greet us when we arrived and made us feel at home immediately. The house was immaculate and welcoming with a breathtaking view of the bay right out the back door. They acquainted us with the local area and provided us with maps, menus and books of the surrounding areas , restaurants, etc. The kitchen was equipped with all the essentials and the 3 bedrooms were cozy and perfect for each of us. There was a gas grill on the deck which we used to make dinner one night. The dining area opened to a beautiful deck overlooking a private beach which was the best feature of all.. My morning coffee couldnt have been better as I listened to the sound of the water and looked at on such beautiful surroundings. The sunsets in the evening were spectacular. The public beach is a 5 minute walk, as is the local town which offered a variety of restaurants and stores. We found some awesome restaurants and a supermarket, less than a 10 minute drive away. Visiting the upper Cape proved to be no problem at all. The ferry to Marthas vineyard was a 40 minute drive and we had easy access to the roads up to Hyannis and Provincetown. I have visted the Cape at least a half dozen times and hands down, this was my favorite stay.

We went to Onset to participate in the On the Cape Triathlon and could not have picked a better place to stay. Susan was friendly and helpful throughout the reservation process. The cottage is clean and welcoming in a beautiful, cozy, peaceful place - even on a cold, rainy weekend :)

Nice family vacation rental

We had a wonderful and relaxing family reunion vacation at this property. The peaceful and beautiful view of the water is the backdrop in every room. The house is second from the last house on an island and it is quiet at all hours of the day. The "beach" backyard is a wonderful playground for the kids. Onsite paddle boat and canoe allowed us to explore Onset Bay. Thanks Sue and Val for the stay!

The three of us enjoyed the house, and especially the view. Very relaxing, VERY quiet area. Took lots of pictures from the back deck of birds doing their thing, plus the general landscape. A little bit tricky to find, but it is secluded. The nearby town is nice, and shopping and restaurants are close by. Lots of great seafood to be had. It got chilly the first night, and the heating system got the place nice and toasty/comfy. The pictures don't do the view justice. Friendly neighbors too.

Great Place to Stay

I was not sure what to expect from this listing. My sister drove by to see it from the outside, from the side facing the road, and approved. Once in this place, it was clean, nice, neat, and very comfortable. We had 5 of us: 2 adults, 3 kids. The kids somehow got the bedrooms. Double bed in each room, and my husband and I got the pull out couch in the living room, but this way they could sleep in and we could get up and have coffee, go out on the water etc. The great thing about the layout of the house is that you could be inside, looking out the back at the water, or on the enclosed back room/porch area (with a dining tabel), or on the back deak outside with loads of hcaires and a table, or down off the back of the deck on to a nice sandy area the owners layed out, with more chairs and loungers and another table, or down on the actual beachy are in the water! Everything you needed was there, and if you wanted the public beach, you were not too far away from it! Very close to many things. Neighbors were nice/quiet. Had a great time there and may return next year.....in hopes to find that PLACE to go each summer! Had a tv, vcr, dvd player, internet access, it was all there! Even an out door shower which the kids thought was just great!
