Thanksgiving In Oostburg
December 5, 2014
We spent Thanksgiving in Oostburg this year and had an excellent time. The house is very cozy, clean, and and has all of the amenities you need for a relaxing escape from a fast-paced routine. The Kimballs are excellent hosts and go out of their way to make their guests feel accommodated. The surrounding area is beautiful and just steps from Lake Michigan--which is a great sight all year around. I highly recommend this destination for any time of the year and plan on going back in the near future.

This trip was wonderful. The humming birds and insects were amazing to see and the walks along the shore-line were exciting. The house owner, Liz and Art Kimball, couldn't be any nicer! We will be back again.

Lake Michigan Stay

We enjoyed our time at this cottage and my kids loved the beach and bonfire we had access to while we stayed. Being able to ride the bikes provided were also great. Very friendly owners and polite.
Serene and beautiful
August 12, 2014
We are a family of 4 & thoroughly enjoyed our week at the cottage . The cottage & surrounding property offered serenity and relaxation. The home was spotless and the decorations were whimsical and entertaining. The deck outdoors provided of the beautiful gardens offered peaceful viewing of gardens & wildlife surrounding the cottage. We enjoyed the fire pit at night and appreciated the firewood that the owners left for us to utilize. We enjoyed hiking on the trails that were in the property. It was just a short hike to the beach, however, we were able to carry all of our supplies. It was also convenient to have the beach chairs provided by the owners for our use. She even provided beachtowels in case we forgot ours! The owner was always prompt and very kind and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our vacation and hope to return in the future.

I stayed for the weekend and enjoyed the grounds of the cottage, the short trail to the beach, Lake Michigan itself, and the many trinkets inside the cottage. There is a garage with many items such as a kayak, special floating tubes for swimming, and hammocks that can be set up outside. When using the kayak during choppy waters, try aiming the kayak so that you're riding parallel with the waves instead of going at them (the kayak will sink if you let it fill up with water). Overall, I had a great adventure at this cottage. A buck and doe like to visit the backyard nature area. There is a blue and white egg trinket in the cottage that brings good luck if you hold it!
Great time had on lake.

I brought a group of friends to the house for the weekend. We had a wedding down the beach and wanted to be able to walk there. The weather was awful for July, in the 60s and cloudy, but we still had a great time. The house was very comfortable and clean with everything we needed to cook, have a bonfire, lounge around and go to the beach. It would be really great for families with kids. The outdoor shower was amazing! The owners are super friendly and chill. They have a large property that is well maintained. I would definitely return.
Amazing cottage by the lake

We so enjoyed our stay at the cottage in Oostburg, WI. So quaint and well appointed. Just a short walk down a path to the beach. The outdoor shower was the best. You will not be disappointed. The owners are so accommodating and friendly. We ate all our meals at the generous table by the kitchen, and the deck is expansive with lots of chairs and a outdoor bar. Lots of trees and greenery surrounding you with the noise of the waves so close by. Heaven on Earth!

Very cute and clean cottage in the trees with the sounds of Lake Michigan! Soft sand beach, great for kids! Great neighbors and owners!!
Nice stay at the lake
September 11, 2012
We have a very nice stay at the lake. The property was pretty much as described, clean, in good shape, the owner very helpful. This is not a 5-star property, but if you look for a relaxing couple of days by the lake, this is it. We had a misunderstanding regarding the reservation dates, which we were able to resolve positively. Location is great, we took long walks on the beach every day. Would recommend the place without doubt.

It was perfect for our family reunion. Yes we beat the heatwave which probably made for much better time. Location is great, excellent beach but neighbors private property is slightly annoying, but they dont own the lake so enjoy it! Was kinda weird being from California, but you have 45' of beach so how much do you need plus NO crowds! Cottage was like a time capsule to my Wisconsin youth, my high tech kids actually bonded over the nightly board games and garage full of stuff. Kitchen/ dining/ living room were great. Full bath upstairs but fun hot outdoor shower as well. Beds soso but no one complained. If you forgot to bring something just look, its probably there. Yes t.v/ games/ internet is there, but use the bikes, kayak, yard toys etc. It is a gem of a place and made priceless memories well never forget. What a deal! Wish I new about this place sooner, but may be back again. Thanks to Art for accomadating us.

Great beach cottage - just be aware
August 6, 2012
My family of 5 stayed at the house the last week of July '12. We had many positive experiences/things we really liked about the rental: beautiful surroundings, short walk to beach, full kitchen with ample supplies, beach towels. beach toys, charcoal grill (charcoal included!), outdoor shower, great deck to listen to waves in the PM, great assortment of books/movies/games, great dining table, short drive from Sheboygan. The reason I am giving a 4/5 rating is two-fold: 1. the house does not have air conditioning. I realize that temps have been way above normal, but it was 101 the day of our arrival and the owner had miscalculated our arrival (thought we were arriving the next day) and had little time to open the house and get fans blowing. He was kind to offer the small "house" next door for use, but I feel that the house should at least have window units at the very least. 2. It should also be a disclaimer that the beach area available for public use is only ~48 feet wide. This was not a big deal for my small kids (we certainly don't have any sort of beach at home!) but older kids/etc.. may not be pleased with this. The shoreline is open to public, but the 2 neighbors on either side of the property were not shy to indicate (both verbally and with strange wooden planks/brush piles) which portion of the beach was their private property. Overall, this is a great little property as long as you are aware of those 2 details before going in. We enjoyed so many attractions in the area such as: Kohler Museum, Sheboygan Children's Museum, The shops/ice cream shop near Blue Harbor, Bookworm Gardens (this was AWESOME), and just spending hours at the beach in general:) The owner is extremely friendly/kind hearted and accomodating, but a bit disorganized and does not reply to emails/phone calls in a very timely manner (before the trip was booked). He was VERY easy to get a hold of once we were at the rental itself.
Great Lake and Outdoor Getaway
July 15, 2012
A group of 8 of us came from Madison to enjoy a great weekend at this quiet cottage. It was more than accommodating for all of us with plenty of sleeping space. We enjoyed the volleyball and badminton court, the walking trails, the beach toys, kayaking, etc. We had a great birthday celebration on the deck and the grill and kitchen were more than ample to cook all of our meals. Lake Michigan is just a skip across the road and the beach was goregous. It was great to not have a TV or computer to distract us, but we did use the stereo and (sparingly) the wifi. Hopefully we will be coming back in the very near future to enjoy another getaway.
Magic moments and breathe

nothing said or pictured can describe the wonder. I felt like Peter pan rediscovering joy in life. Deb is great as an owner and assistant to get to this place. Budda to everyone.

Quite retreat near Lake Michigan beach
March 19, 2012
We enjoyed our short little get-away here on a quite road. We took a couple of walks along the beach, which is a very short walk away from the cottage. While not the fanciest of accommodations, we enjoyed the homey feel of the place and the spacious yard with a peaceful setting. It is an older house that is showing it's age, but it is comfortable - and just what we were looking for. Even enjoyed the "chore" of feeding the fish in the pond and keeping an eye on the water level. It was nice sitting out on the deck in the late afternoon and having our home cooked dinner out there. If we had spent more time there, we may have used the grill and some of the beach "toys" etc. from the garage. We had been hoping there would be bikes that we could use, but no luck with that. But we enjoyed the ice cream that had been left in the freezer! Might consider going back again sometime!
relaxing get away
August 7, 2011
My wife and I visited for a week with our two young children. It was very convenient not to have to bring any of the beach toys, chairs, etc as everything you would need for the beach is available at the house. The beach was very clean and easily accessible. The owners are very nice and easy to deal with. I would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet, low key getaway with their family.
Lake Michigan unplugged!
July 5, 2011
If you are looking for a Lake Michigan experience where you are not disturbed by television, videos, computers, etc. this is the place for you! We had a wonderful stay. The cottage had a family feel to it! The beach was beautiful and private. There is a kayak and plenty of beach furniture. The sunrise is amazing. And the owner, Nikki was very welcoming and generous. Don't let the simple life fool you. This is Lake Michigan at its best!

A cute cottage!
June 20, 2011
The place was good with a beautiful yard & the beach was right near by. It was quiet at the beach with folks coming once in a while. The owners gave us access to all the stuff in their garage & we had fun kayaking. Lots of movies & some good books to spend time. I found the nights a little too quiet, but that's just my feeling. Look at the expiry date of stuff like tea/coffee in the kitchen before you use them - some are expired.

Cute and Cozy
October 13, 2010
Picket fence and wrap around deck made sitting outside lovely. An eclectic and charming little old fashioned cottage was cozy and had everything we needed and more. The beach was clean and nice to walk along. No cable TV, and the DVD controller took some figuring out, but otherwise everything worked perfectly. Fun to feed the goldfish and see all the frogs!

A Great Escape
August 31, 2010
What a relaxing cottage. From the big wrap around deck we could listen to the waves of Lake Michigan and the sounds of the birds. The Lake and it's soft sand was just steps away. In the evenings we'd have a fire and watch the stars. We visited the bakery in Oostburg twice for some amazing bread and visited the Kohler museum in Sheboygan. The cottage is in a very convenient location. Sam and his family are great to work with. We'd go back again.

My husband and I and our son and his family, including their 3 girls, 5, 8 and 9 stayed here for 4 days and had a great time. The cottage is cute, even with just 2 bedrooms and 1 bath, it accomodated all 7 of us. The girls loved walking to the beach and making somores in the fire pit, and thought using the outdoor shower after being at the beach was awesome. There are trails for hiking on the property. The adults loved relaxing or having meals on the deck with the chairs and a bar area. We used the BBQ grill several times. Everything we needed for a great vacation was provided. It's very private, and close enough to the lake to hear the waves at night, and yet convenient for many of the area activities. We went hiking at nearby state parks, horse back riding at the Appy Orse Farm, and visted Sheboygan and Port Washington. The owner's son Samm, checked us in, and was excellent to deal with when making our vacation arrangements, providing detailed information about the cottage and things to do in the area, and also was very accomodating during our stay. He did everything to make our stay pleasant, including putting in an A/C unit for the unusually hot and humid weather! We all enjoyed our time at this cottage.
A good time in Wisconsin
August 28, 2010
This is a cute place, kid friendly,VERY close to the beach, and had everything you would need for a beach vacation. Samm was very nice to show us around and make sure we had everything we needed. We enjoyed campfires at night , roasting marshmallows, hikes in the woods and around the property, the outdoor shower, and of course playing in Lake Michigan. The beach was very clean and quiet. Many private homes along the shoreline. The public access area we used was big enough and no one was there but our family. We would go back.
Very kid friendly
July 28, 2010
We stayed here for two nights in July. The house is clean and comfortable. I liked the fenced front yard, the woods, the outside shower(very convienient) and overall perfect location. There were many board games and books for the kids, which kept them busy when inside and we had lots of fun playing card gamed together. We spent some time at the beach but could not swim because Lake Michicgan beaches were closed that weekend due to a storm but we did find a place called Random Lake(10 mins. drive from house), which had a beach and water was shallow enough for the kids to swim alone. It was a perfect vacation for our family. We got time to relax, have fun together and enjoy nature.

This is a great location with a classic cottage feel. The walk to the beach is literally seconds away. The beach itself is beautiful with soft, white sand and nice blue lakewater. While we were here, we enjoyed the provided kayak and inner tubes while spending time on the beach! The next day we took a nice bike ride with the provided bikes. One night we went up to nearby Sheboygan for a nice dinner and a movie at the theater. Overall, I appreciated my time there and the owners were great to work with as well! Thanks!
Roman: We stayed in October and had excellent time there! Private cottage with fully equipped kitchen and only 50 yards from the Michigan Lake and away from all city noises. Sports equipment was provided - so kayaking on the lake waves was my favorite!
